Becoming Babywise

In an attempt to get the little guy in a routine, my mom got me a book called "On Becoming Babywise." She's heard great things about it and has gotten it for several other new parents. My cousin said it saved her life when she had both her boys. So I read it yesterday and Lee & I started to put the plan into practice right away.

Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. Babywise involves putting Joey down for a nap while he's still awake...several times a day. Let's just say he wasn't that into it yesterday. Cried and cried and cried the first time. Every 15 minutes, Lee would go in, pick him up and calm him down. As soon as Lee picked him up, he was silent so at least I knew he wasn't in pain or dying. Meanwhile, I was curled up in the fetal position on the couch brushing away my own tears.

Despite (or beacuse of) the crying, he slept GREAT last night. So this morning I started it again. I woke him up at 7, fed him, changed him, and Lee played with him while I took a shower. Then we put him down for his nap at 8am.

8:15: started whimpering and a little crying (not the full out wailing of yesterday)
8:27: silence
8:33: started whimpering again
8:37: silence.
9:00 (current time): I haven't heard a peep in 23 minutes. Success?! I have hope. It could be a long day. Lee left for work and I have to be strong on my own. Pray for me.
Oh, and here's some pics of his precious little punam.
