That's right, this post is all about the wonderful, fantastic, stupendous Robert W. Sercu, Jr. I owe it to him because I flat out neglected him in my last entry :( So sorry, Sersh. I always thought of you as so much more "grown up" then the rest of us and in your own class!
An Ode to Sersh
Oh Bob Sercu, I knew thee so well.
You gave me my first job, even though at times it was hell.
I remember the sound that would make my ears a-tingle,
When I could hear the muffler of your pink car jingle.
Even though your desk was filled with lots of piles,
You have a heart that goes on for miles.
I fondly remember you telling me that long pig story,
From when you traveled in Buffalo in your days of glory.
Although we could be annoying, you were never cruel or mean.
You always had a smile, and were always neat and clean.
You had an appreciation for Sunil's empty folder,
Even though we both knew he should have been acting older.
You would always pat your stomach, a.k.a. the Buddha,
Because Peg always filled it with lots of delicious fooda.
It amazed me how you handled Linda the secretary,
On her bad days, she was pretty darn scary.
I hated working with Dave Fabian,
More than once, he made me cry like a babian.
You were always there to cheer me up,
And offer me some Diet Pepsi for my cup.
At times you could be stern, saying "What now, Sunil?"
But I imagine in your college days, you probably drank beer from a funnel.
Nobody knew better how to deal with Steiner,
Because although we love him, he can be a whiner.
Peg is lucky to have you, you're quite a catch!
Even though you and Sunil lost many a volleyball match.
As a leader, you taught us everything we know,
As our mentor, you encouraged us to grow.
You always knew the right things to say,
When it comes to bosses, you lead the way.
When you left the office, we were so sad to see you go,
How much we would miss you, we would never know.
In all my working years, I've never had a greater boss,
When you left Gannon, the college suffered a huge loss.
Bob, please forgive me for leaving you out of my last post,
If I had a glass of champagne, I would honor you with one hell of a toast!
You're the best, Sersh!

Friday, August 8
It's Friday. Weeeeeeee
So, it's Friday and I'm glad. My bubba started school this week. He seems to like it well enough. I picked him up on Monday and he was thrilled to see me (naturally). Wednesday, he looked a little worse for wear. As soon as we left school on Wednesday, we headed back to Brockport for happy hour with my work peeps (mother of the year, I know). Lee had to work at 8am today so he left with Joey at 7am and headed to school. It was the weirdest thing. I have NEVER been in the house without Joey. I didn't know what to do with myself in those 25 minutes before I had to leave for work. So, what did I decide on? I settled on the couch with a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and watched the greatest show: My Life on the D List. {I tried to put the link in there but blogger is being crotchedy this morning and wouldn't let me. sorry.}
So, now it's 8:15 and I'm at work. And I'm deciding if I should be productive today or continue procrastinating. Some of you may wonder what it is that I do all day at work. If you really want to know, take a look at my new header! That's right, I have a new look to my page that I toiled over yesterday afternoon in my office. You likey? I changed the title too. I'd like some feedback please. Anything to show that there are actually people out there who read this thing. I feel guilty playing on my blog while at work. I swear, I'm a very hard worker but I just need a break now and then.
Also? I got some fantastic news yesterday. My dear friend Sunil and his wife are expecting a baby! I'm very excited. I was part of a very tight-knit bunch when I worked at Gannon. How the six of us managed to all get hired around the same time is an act of God, I tell ya. Steiner, Sunil, Agnes, Balls, Kim and I were tight. Too tight? Maybe. But we had a blast! It's been five years since we all worked together. There are now six kids between the six of us and two more on the way. That's crazy when you consider how immature we were! We've all gone our seperate ways; Steiner stayed in Erie (and had twin boys) while the rest of us left the nest. After a few years in Virginia, Ags is back in Erie expecting her second. Balls is back in WashPa and had her daughter Meredyth just before Joey was born. Kim's in Corry. Sunil is on Long Island (sniff). And I'm in the crotch. If any of you guys read this, I miss ya! Thank God for Facebook where I can still exchange insults with Steiner and Sunil.
Let's see, what else did I want to talk about. This post is becoming pretty boring, sorry. OH, I remember! We close on our house next week! That's right, we sold our house in Clarence. I'm kinda sad to see it go but I'm sure that sadness will disappear as soon as I get that fat check in my hands. Muahahahaha. We're going to pay off all our debt except school loans. We need to replace my Honda, a.k.a. Lil Sis. She was the first car I bought: my 1996 Honda Accord. She only has 115K miles but I think the clutch is going. Plus there's no A/C. Usually I take our nice car to work but the other day I had the Honda. I drove home in a complete downpour and it was 90 degrees out. My options were 1) keep the windows down to get a little air in there and get soaked, or 2) keep the windows up so no rain came in but sweat my ass off and still get soaked. I chose option 2. It was a long twenty minute ride home. But I digress. We need to get rid of the accord for obvious reasons and I think we're going to get a Mazda 5. {again, tried to put a link in but blogger is sucking a big fat one today.} Please pray to the real estate Gods that we actually do close next Friday and everything goes smoothly.
I guess that's all for now. Sorry I didn't have anything interesting to discuss. Have a great weekend!

Hodgepodge
Nothing too exciting going on in the crotch (Rochester). Joey and I enjoyed a fantastic week during my time off. We were busy little bees. We visited his new "school", visited friends and family in Buffalo, visited my work peeps, got his portraits taken and went to his 9 month pediatrician appointment.
Yup, Joey starts "school" on Monday. Lee's going back to work full-time so Joey will be in day care 2.5 days a week. The place is really wonderful and I'm excited for Joey. We' lucky to have found such a fabulous place to send him. I'm sure I'll have more updates on his life as a "student" :) in the future.
Joey now weighs 24.4 lbs and is 30.5" tall. He's still a giant baby but his hugeness is finally starting to taper off! He's still above the 97% for both height and weight. As a result of this, you should see my biceps. I'm happy to say I can no longer be mistaken for Olive Oyl.
We also celebrated my dad's birthday last Sunday. It was the Bicentennial Parade in Clarence and my mom was the grand marshall of the parade. Margaret graciously offered to accompany her crammy in the car. Joey and Matthew were hilarious as always. you can see from the pictures that it was a tad windy. They were both given mardi gras beads and apparently the rules have changed, because neither boy revealed their cash and prizes to get the beads.
So anyhoo, here's some random pics from the past two weeks or so. I apologize for making it into a slideshow but blogger's photo uploader is painfully slow today. Enjoy!
