The big 4

Sienna turned 4 when we were in Hawaii. I was just thinking I would get out of throwing a party this year, and just find a cake for her when we got there and just give her the bike when we got home. Lazy mom right..... in my defense I had a lot going on with work, and being sick.... excuses excuses! Sienna was bummed she didn't get a cake and balloons, so we got home on a Thursday and I put together a little party for family on Sunday. Sienna had to have a arial cake, and with a few days notice this was a hard cake to come by. I normally go overboard with the party planning, and obsess over every detail, but this year was simple and oh so nice! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Our little family

Sienna was so lucky to have both sets of Grandparents at her party. She was so happy Grandma and Grandpa Schaar made the long drive for one day!

I made Sienna's favorite dinner. Spaghetti, breadsticks, and salad.
Sienna with her two best buds Isabelle and Haylee. There is not a day around my house that she doesn't ask to play with one of them! Baby porter is Sienna's love of her life. This little boy has a cousin that loves him to death.... or malls him to death. She is his little mother!!

Sienna is OBSESSED with anything mermaid and all 3 of her aunts gave her new barbie mermaids that go everywhere with her!
Sienna holding up her 4 fingers on her new PINK bike! She had such a fun party, and was so lucky to have all the people that she loves at it.

A little piece of paradise.... Maui 2011

My parents gave the family a trip to Hawaii for our Christmas and Birthday this year, and can I say I would take this instead of gifts any year! It's no secret that the last few months have been a bit of a struggle, after the miscarriage the thought of a getaway and seeing the sun again was the only thing getting me through some days. Our vacation started off a bit rocky. We ended up at the SLC airport for 8.... yes 8 hours before we got on a flight to LA. We got to LA around midnight and ended up not having bags, and searching for a place to spend the night. The next morning it was off to Maui, we finally get there and all take a deep breath, Porter and Sienna were AMAZING on the 6 hour flight, and all we needed were our bags to get our vacation started. Everyones bags came out, but Casey's and mine.... figures right!!! Our bags ended up still being in LA, and Delta finally got them to us 2 days later. I learned a BIG lesson, always pack a spare set of clothes including a swimsuit, and a toothbrush in your carry on!!

This is basically what our 8 hours looked like at the airport.... a circus show!! Sienna LOVED her makeup kit, and was entertained for quite some time!

Our first night out we went to Bubba Gumps, Casey's one request of the whole trip.

This is was just one of the fun pools Sienna got to play in every day!

I am in LOVE with this little bikini body! I brought lot's of cute one piece suits, but sienna had to wear her "bakini" as she called it.
Dinner at Dukes just up from our hotel.

Lounging at the pool

Siennas afternoon routine consisted of lounging around, and drinking her slushi or a mudslide!

Sienna's first taste of hula pie on her Birthday! Lets just say we had one of these almost every night, and I am paying dearly for them!

Shopping at Whaler Village with her new mermaid from Uncle and Boo Boo.

We went on a early morning Whale watch. Sienna didn't know what to expect, but was excited for every whale that we saw. We have done a whale watch every year that we have gone to Maui, and this one was by far the BEST. I can't believe the amount of whales that we saw. They were jumping and playing basically all around us the entire time. Casey got some incredible pictures, about a 100 to be exact! I just posted a few of my favorites.
What I would give for this little girls natural curls. It was so nice having a week off from fighting her to do her hair!
Notice Casey's sweet whale tale necklace that Pete bought him the night before. Thankfully he lost it a few days later body surfing, otherwise I'm sure he would still be wearing it!

Our first sighting. Sienna was so cute and thought the whales were waving at her.
We never just saw one whale, they where always in groups of four. In this group there was a mom and baby and three males fighting over her.
Whales have to be the most incredible animals! This whale didn't disappoint, he continued to breach over and over again.

I miss the AMAZIG Maui sunsets.

Our only family picture. Sienna has always been hard to get to take pictures, but this trip was especially hard. This was such a dream vacation. I can't THANK my parents enough for taking us, we are so LUCKY to have the family that we do, even if we drive each other nuts.... what family doesn't!!

for now.....

I have been going through all of my holiday pictures, and decided for now I would post my two favorite pictures. My talented friend Rachel Cowan took our pictures back in November and I never got around to posting them. If I would of sent out a Christmas card you might of seen on it, but since the month of December was spent in a hormonal fog I never got around to it.
For now I think I am going to skip the last few months of blogging. This last week has been a rough one. Miscarriage has been the word I have been dealing with. A word that after a year of trying for a baby, was one that I prayed so hard we wouldn't have to deal with. I know that all things happen for a reason, and right now I am trying to figure out what those reasons are. I am so THANKFUL for our family and friends, and most of all for the 2 people I live with that make getting up in the morning worth it!

Baby Porter

Almost 2 weeks ago my sweet nephew was born. This was such a special day for our family, and we are so happy for Enoch and Nicole. FINALLY Sienna has a cousin on my side of the family!! This picture bellow melts my heart every time I see it. Whitney and I went up to the hospital about a hour after Porter was born, and when we got there Enoch and the baby were in the nursery. I walked out into the hall to see my brother pushing this tiny bundle, Enoch had tears in his eyes and the glow of a proud daddy!

What a AMAZING day I feel so blessed to of been a part of it. There is nothing like holding a perfect baby sent from heaven. We love you baby Porter!

Can you believe this woman just had a baby!! Seriously I hope and wish for a 2nd pregnancy and delivery like Nicoles!
Baby Porter was blessed with Enochs LONG toes and the dreaded hammer head!! ha ha

Casey's TROPHY!!

Ok so I know for most people this picture might be a little disturbing, but since this is our family blog I figured I needed to post it since Casey has not stopped smiling since!! Casey has been EXTRA busy this year with school and work. Lately it seems like we barley see him, and if we do we consider ourselves extra lucky! On a normal week Casey works between 60-70 hours and then goes to school full time, and if any time is left over we can find him in his office studying! So I know this was a rare treat for him being able to do something he really loves. While laying in bed the night before he was telling me how he only had 3 days left before his tag expired, and there was no way he was leaving that mountain without a deer even if it was a spike!! So when he sent me this picture at 7:30 a.m. I was so EXCITED that he got what he wanted, I know that doesn't happen a lot. (And since he never reads my blog I think I am safe to admit that) This last year my appreciation and love for this man has grown more than I ever knew possible. We have learned to pull together when things get hard, and that together there is no obstacle we can't overcome! Right now we want more than anything to have another baby. With how easy it was to get pregnant the first time around we were thinking baby #2 would be a piece of cake...WRONG!! One year later we are starting fertility testing and all the emotional baggage that comes a long with wanting something you can't have. If I have learned one thing in the last year it is to trust in the Lord and know that things will work out when they should. This is a really hard thing for me considering I like to have control of most things in my life! ANYWAYS.... I am really proud of him not only for the deer, but for his commitment to his family. Sienna and I are two LUCKY girls!!!

Halloween week

We had quite the Halloween week! Sienna got to dress up 3 days in a row and was in heaven. People would say "sienna you look so cute" and she would promptly correct them by saying "I am not Sienna I am Sleeping Beauty!" After last years Halloween I wasn't quite sure what to expect (remember last year she wouldn't even put her costume on) but this year was a success!
at our school Halloween Party

Trick-or-treating
Love this sister of mine, although I sure wish I had those big eyes and extra long eyelashes!

Finally a family picture! We don't see Casey nearly enough these days, but sure love when we do!
Love them! (dang you red eye)
If you look closely you can see casey broke his nose for the second time in his life! And refuses to get it fixed, oh well!
