A Break from the Real World

Matt had to go to New Orleans for work and I tagged along. It was a great break from reality.(However, reality has given me a slap in the face since we returned) Matt had to work a couple days and then we played for a couple days. So many things to do and see. So much great food! (I won't be stepping on the scale anytime soon.) What an interesting city.

This was part of our Hotel lobby. I thought these trees were just gorgeous.
Jackson Square. In the background is St. Louis Cathedral.

We loved this piano bar. The musical talent in the city was amazing. Such great live music everywhere.
We met Toby and Lisa at a bar on the last night we were there. They were visiting from England. They were on their Honeymoon for the next 6 MONTHS! The trip will take them across the U.S. to Mexico and then through Latin America. The only deadline they had was to be in Las Vegas in time for New Years Eve to meet her family for the weekend. What an adventure!! I had a hard time being away for 5 days let alone 6 months.

A Savior is born!

Last weekend the kids had their Christmas Program at church. They all did a wonderful job. Emma and Bennett's hard work on memorizing their verses really paid off. They did great!

Our Angel.....

Bennett had his Pre-School Christmas program last night. He did such a wonderful job! So fun to see children share the wonderful news of Christ's birth with such energy and joy!
Bennett made this centerpiece for the reception tables after his program. I think he looks pretty sweet as an angel. However, funny how even holding a picture of himself as an angel didn't keep him from acting goofy for the pictures.

His big sister was especially proud of her little brother. She leaned over to me during the program and said "Mom, I can hear Bennett. He really knows his songs "

Emma's 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emma turned 8 on Tuesday. She had a great day! I can't believe it has been 8 years!! Time flies!!
She got to pick her favorite meal for dinner. Beef Stroganoff. mmm....

Emma had a party with her friends last night. Can't beat an ice cream party. However, I did realize you don't really need cake when having a build your own Sunday party. Most of the cake will be going to the tailgate today.

The girls had a great time!

"Spring" Cleaning

Before

After!!!!
I couldn't put it off any longer. Any time the kids would get in this cupboard something would fall out. Oh the treasures I found! Now the challenge is to keep it this way.

Bennett's Fantasy Day at Fort Riley

Bennett & Matt had a chance to see the sights today at Ft. Riley. I am not sure I have ever seen Bennett so excited. He was up at the crack of dawn in uniform ready to go with "Clegeland". I think he is ready to enlist on Monday.

Thanks for a great day Cleveland!

Happy Halloween!!

We tried

Getting a picture of Skylar standing still is no easy task. (Jen, I know you know what I am talking about.) Maybe next year.
There has never been a more fitting costume. Busy Bee she is.
Our little Sergent.

Halloween Party

Emma's school had their annual Halloween Parade and party. It's always fun to see what the kids come up with.

Fall Family Fun!!

It was a perfect fall day for a trip to the pumpkin patch. We traveled a few miles down the rode south of Wamego. The kids had a blast and could have spent the whole day there. There were all kinds of fun things to do..a bale maze, big tire swings, walking path, a pumpkin launcher (okay they were actually using hedge apples), bale bounce. Just an all around fun place on a beautiful day.
I just love this picture! My two beautiful girls.

Emma had her friend Payton spend the night. We always enjoy having her around. Notice the matching outfits. I am wondering what age that isn't cool anymore? Emma has loved to do that forever.

They loved having dad push them on the tire swing.

Firestation Fun!

Today was the Fire Department open house. Emma, Bennett, and cousins Allie & Logan took it all in. Fire truck rides, spraying out a fire, riding to the top of the ladder, popcorn, & lemonade make for a fun afternoon.

We happened to be first in line so they were able to sit in the front. The two heads up front are Allie and Bennett. They thought it was pretty cool to push the siren button.

Girls Day Out

Emma, myself, and our friends Trina and Jerica headed to Kansas City yesterday to see The Lion King. The show was incredible! It was great to spend some one on one time with the "big" girls. Thanks girls for a wonderful day!

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Bennett and his Pre-School class took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch this morning. We were worried it was going to rain but we luck out. They took a hay ride and then made it through the corn maze to the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin. Bennett told me on the way home that he loves fall. I have to agree!

The Happy Couple!

What a great weekend for a wedding! Our good friends Jessica & Cleveland were married on Saturday. The bride was beautiful and we are so happy they are now newlyweds. They had the honor of being the first couple married in our church. We had such a great time! The kids had a ball dancing the night away. The happy couple left for Puerto Rico this morning. I have to say I wish it was me. I could use a second honeymoon right about now!

Bennett Being Bennett

We can always count on Bennett to tell us what he thinks. Tonight was no exception. Sunday night is "Funny" dinner night at the Schoenbecks. Which means we stand around the island in the kitchen and munch on whatever happens to sound good. Tonight it happened to be cheese dip and popcorn. The family was discussing whether or not we would still be having "funny" dinner in 10 years. (Emma would almost be 18, Bennett 15, Skylar 11) Matt and I were saying how Emma would be a Senior and probably be too busy for us and Bennett would be hanging out with friends etc. Then Bennett said "And Dad will be bald." Needless to say he got a good laugh out of everyone.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go......

Emma had a chance to run in the Cross Country Festival's fun run. It was a beautiful day and she did a great job! We couldn't believe how many kids participated. We had to park further away than she ran. They had a competition between all of the elementary schools and the unofficial results showed her school took 2nd. Way to go Mustangs!

Bennett's 5!

Bennett turned 5 yesterday. He had a great day! He celebrated at school and then we picked up Emma at school and went for lunch at McDonalds. Emma thought it was pretty cool to leave school for lunch.
On Saturday we had his party at the KSU bowling alley. Bennett loved celebrating with his friends.
For the second week in a row I attempted another birthday cake. I was happy with the outcome and am ready to do it again. I had no idea decorating cakes were so much fun.
