Betrothed or Cheated?

The week Rachel was born, my friend Danette also had her baby boy.  There was more than two full pounds difference between the two, although they were the same length!  We had dinner with them the other day and had to take pictures of the two babies.  We have been joking since September that Rachel and Kellen will be married one day.  Of course they are betrothed!  We spend so much time together, how could they not be?  Before we left their house that night, her older daughter and son were going to bed.  The almost 3-year-old boy was standing over Rachel as I held her.  He looked at me and simply asked, “Can I kiss her?”  How could I resist?  Drisan gave Rachel the sweetest little kiss!  Danette was shocked because he doesn’t even ask to give Kellan a kiss.  Poor Kellen is already being cheated out of his future wife by his older brother!

He is so much bigger than she is!!

1st Tummy Time

Rachel has gotten so big already in just 4 weeks!  She has been rolling to her side since we were in the hospital, and I thought certainly she would be fine on her tummy.  Boy was I wrong!  She hated being on her tummy.  This made me nervous to have tummy time with her.  I know that it helps her develop her muscles and is good interactive time for her, but I kept putting it off.  Eventually, it had to be done.

She did GREAT!  We played with her and she was so interested!  Earlier this week, she and I had tummy time together while Scott was at work.  Lindsay sent a variety of toys for her before she was born and she loves the rainstick.  I picked up the rainstick and turned it over while she had her head on her hands.  She lifted her head up off her hands and turned towards the noise!  She has strengthened her little neck muscles so much and continues to show us she is really not “so little” like I keep saying.

2 Weeks Old

Monday was Rachel’s 2-week dr appointment.  She is growing so fast already!!  When we put her on the scale, the MA said her weight, then, Rachel immediately released everything in her little bladder.  Scott laughed and said it’s because she is already “watching her weight.”  All I could think was, “Thank heaven it’s a little bladder!”  She hated that I had to wipe her little legs with a cold wipe!  We didn’t get pictures taken on Monday, but we did yesterday.  So she is 2 wks and 1 day in the pictures…please forgive the one day.  Rachel is obviously eating very well according to her weight gain.  She continues to sleep through the night unless she is hungry, but really only wakes up once or twice.  We feel very blessed that she is such a good baby already.
Such a big yawn for such a little girl!

Weight: 7 lbs 5 oz (gained 1 lb 3 oz since we left the hospital)
Length: 20 inches (grown ½ inch since birth)
Head Circumference: 35 cm (32cm at birth)
You can see the weight is mostly in her chin and cheeks in this picture.  She still has skinny little legs!  We'll get there though.

Deep in Thought

We thought she was so cute last night when she fell asleep in this position!  Scott's phone was sitting right next to him, so he snapped a shot real quick before she could move.  She looks as though she is contemplating something very seriously.  If you can't tell, she is practically drowning in her clothes.  Those are newborn clothes!  We still can't believe how little she is.  I was doing laundry the other day and pulled out a tiny pair of pants.  Scott reminded me that not only are they tiny, they're too big!  We have a dr appointment on Monday and will find out how much she weighs...check back for more then!
