Little Brother or Sister?

As you are aware, we are adding to our small family!  Rachel went with us to the ultrasound appointment and lacked any interest in what was happening.  We were able to see a healthy baby on the ultrasound, but I know everyone always wants to know the gender.  I have a friend who did not find out with her current pregnancy.  She had the baby this morning and I am still on pins and needles waiting to hear what she had.  I have been checking my email every 45 minutes or so to see if there’s something from she or her husband!  I can only imagine how I would be if this were me!  With that being said, yes, we did find out if it is a boy or a girl.

Rachel is excited to annouce she is getting a little sister!!

First Haircut

One of the results of Rachel throwing up was a hair cut!  Her hair was getting so long and we were planning on piggy-backing our hair cut appointments since I had one coming up.  Due to the throwing up, we ended up cancelling my appointment.

Lucky for us we have a good friend who came to our rescue!  Kristy cut bangs so that Rachel was no longer throwing up in her hair.  She did so well and sat so still!  Great job, Rachel!

The back was getting so long that it was down her neck to her back.  I was confident enough in my cutting abilities to cut the back.  After Kristy cut Rachel’s bangs, I put her in the bath and trimmed the back.  I put the hair in the sink so that I could see how much I cut off.  I was actually shocked when I finished and looked in the sink!

Illness…YUCK!

Unfortunately, we recently had some illness in our home.  About a month ago, I had a cold and was unable to take any good medications due to pregnancy.  I suffered through it and we survived with no one else getting sick.  About a week after I was feeling back to normal, Scott was just about to come to bed when he heard Rachel crying in her room.  He walked in and smelled an abnormal and horrible smell.  When he picked Rachel up, he realized what had happened.  I was then woken up to Scott, “Wake up.  Rachel just threw up and I’m going to need help cleaning up.”  We spent the next hour cleaning up, just to have Rachel throw up again and have to start over.  Over the next couple of days, she was up and down.  One night while Scott was gone to mutual or class, Rachel and I decided to have a bath and get her cleaned up.  She seemed to be feeling fine and not tired, so I decided to pull out my sponge curlers from when I was growing up.  She tolerated the procedure very well and even went to sleep in them!  Come morning, there was only a curler or two left on top.  As Rachel was still on the mend, things got worse.  I left Friday afternoon to go see Wicked (yes, it was fabulous!!).  When I came home that evening, Scott was not feeling well.  We stayed home the rest of the weekend…sick.  Come Saturday morning, my only prayer was that they both get better and I not be next!  We survived and I never got it.  We are grateful to all be better.  Maybe Rachel and I will get to play hair again without her being sick.
