Last night we saw the Tigers play the Houston Astros and Roger Clemens. It was a great game with the Tigers winning 4-0!

The crowd reaction after the only home run of the game was hit by Alexis Gomez (click on photos to see bigger and better).
Gomez rounds homeplate.
We stayed afterwards to see the victory fireworks.

Us... in the only Tigers shirts we own. You'll see them again, I'm sure, in the pictures I intend to take at the August game!
more tigers (just can't get enough)

the windy city
Last weekend, Scott and I took a little break from things and had a mini-vacation in Chicago with my best friend and her husband. Here's a review...
Jessica and Gabe's place, outside Chicago
Jessica and I, up close and personal!
Hanging at the pool with Jessica and Gabe
Saturday in the City. First stop, Navy Pier.

Then on to the Wrigley Field neighborhood

Cubs vs. Tigers... the view from our [shaded] seats along third baseline.
Us, scorching hot... and the view from our seats.
Looking at our seats from the first baseline. We were in the lower deck, about four sections of shade from the right. So glad about that, as it was in the mid-90s and extremely humid!
Final Score... go Tigers!
Scott and I with Jessica and Gabe post-game. Detroit was victorious with the help of lots of vocal fans and support from the crowd. It really was neat to be there with so many hometown fans. The poor Cubs fans... all they could come up with in retaliation was "General Motors Sucks!"

summer in DC
These are recent photos from Sarah and Doug. The first several are of their condo in DC, and many include Doug's parents. Love the new screen door, you two!

last weekend's pics
Finally, I got these stupid pictures up on this blog. I have been so frustrated trying to upload photos these days... I have no idea what has changed to cause these issues, but nonetheless, here's the pictures from a wedding we attended way back on June 9th...
Scott's parents
Our great friends, Phil and Kar
The happy couple
Who are these crazy ladies?
And these are the pictures from Race For The Cure from Saturday, June 10. We were able to attend through Scott's work (this was considered a volunteer opportunity), and it was great to see how another non-profit put on such a huge walk. It gave me some great ideas for my own walk in August that I'm planning, and I made some great professional connections!
Race For the Cure also was emotional, and much to my surprise, I became wrapped up in the moment... it was neat to see the joy survivors had in living and the tribute paid to those who fought (and sometimes lost) the battle.
My mom has never been one to don a pink ribbon or promote awareness, and maybe that's why I thought Saturday morning would be no more than good exercise and a chance to scout out the competition. Little did I know I would become so moved. It was a great experience.

busy times
We've had a hectic week... in which I've failed to mention the anniversary of my parents and my dad's birthday! It occurred to me that I've blogged about special occasions like these in the past, and want to recognize both of my fabulous parents here. Better late than never! Congratulations!
In other exciting news, my sister will be flying home from Washington, DC for the 4th of July. It was a spur of the moment decision that came on Friday after finding out her husband would be gone over the holiday for business and also finding super cheap rates. We'll miss you, Doug, but are all looking foward to seeing Sarah!
So that leaves Joel. I think Joel's been enjoying his summer and his first ever trip to Petoskey. And I believe his girlfriend will be taking the turn to visit him at my parent's house this coming weekend.
As for Scott and I... stay tuned. We've got pictures coming from the wedding we attended Friday night, as well as from this morning's Race For The Cure!

how proud i am
Posted Saturday, June 3, 2006 : "As I'm sure you've heard, there was a stunning announcement this week that there had been a misidentification of students at the scene of the accident and, in fact, Laura VanRyn had died and it was Whitney Cerak the VanRyns had been caring for during the last month. It's made national (and in some cases, international) headlines since Wednesday when this discovery was revealed..."
How proud I am to say I am a Christian. Click here to see my cousin's blog post in it's entirety. And be sure to follow the link on the bottom of her post to the website of Laura VanRyn and Whitney Cerak.

two more photos
These are the two photos from Wednesday's post that I wanted to include...
Somehow we created a space down the middle... I guess that's where Sarah and Doug would stand had they been able to come!
