Assertive. Adventurous. Active. That's our Andrew!

After rescuing Andrew from the giant play table, nearly on his head, he decided it would be fun to pull down once again. Go big or go home. That seems to be his motto these days.

One happy little boy.

graduation

Andrew's head has been quickly approaching the 1-inch margin between himself and the top of his infant car seat, signaling the end of his days in the convenient little carrier. So over the weekend, we upgraded Morgan and snagged her former seat for Andrew. With warmer weather, longer wake times and super sitting stability, I'm hoping this transition will be an easy one. I guess we'll find out next Monday when, for the first time, Andrew will make his debut in the jump seat of the shopping cart at Meijer. Note to self: prepare Morgan mentally for this change!

Morgan is now in a youth car seat that still utilizes a five-point-harness. It conveniently converts to a booster style seat for use with the vehicle's seat belt system, and while the parameters for each overlap, it will be a long time coming before we make the switch (we're talking a height of 57 inches before she's technically forced out of the five-point harness).

Here's to safety!

stealth

I've always known that my mom was very selective about which ingredients were common knowledge in the dinners we ate, fearing that if we really knew the truth, we'd go to bed hungry. Lately, I've been walking in her shoes. In fact just today, I added a couple cubes of Andrew's homemade baby food to Morgan's lunch. And do you know what? She gobbled it up like nobody's business!

Mom's original recipe with Velveeta, combined with
inspiration from Jessica Seinfield's Deceptively Delicious

PLUS...
The last three cubes of Andrew's butternut squash

EQUALS...
Mac and cheese... and a bit of squash! YUM?

We were out of elbow macaroni, so maybe the new rotini shape helped disguise the orange flecks. No matter. Morgan practically licked the "cheese" from her plate upon finishing. Go, Mommy!

Now if the Mac and Cheese Expert (Joel) came over for lunch, I'm not so sure I could pull a fast one on him.

and the winner is...

Since receiving numerous birthday cards in the mail, Morgan has taken a huge interest in what arrives in our box. Today when I mentioned a special envelope arrived from Grandpa M., she held it close and asked, "Is it for me?"

Not this time. Today's special mail is for Daddy. "For Daddy?" The look on her face read something like, how can that even be possible?!?

Here's how: Scott won the first annual family bracket challenge for the NCAA basketball tournament. From worst to first, he walked away with a $30 gift card to the business of his choosing. Tomorrow, he will enjoy the first of several Bottomless Express Lunches ($6.50 for endless soup, salad and chips with salsa) at Chili's Restaurant compliments of Sarah, Doug, Dad, Joel and me.

After getting home from work tonight, Scott officially accepted the gift card, given to him by a special representative from the Bracket Commissioner's Office, as appointed by Dad, of course.

sunny skies

Wednesday afternoon was windy, but beautiful. This weather has been such a treat! Morgan made use of our fleet of outdoor plastics (scooter, bikes, wagon, soccer ball, baseball and bat, stroller) while Andrew observed from the blanket. Hoping for repeat smiles this afternoon.
