SNOW 2012

On Christmas day is started sleeting which turned into snow which ended up with Central Arkansas seeing the most snow in forever!!  We were fortunate to never lose power, but we had tons of friends around LR that were without power for days.  Some are still without power and have been without since Christmas night.  We got around 10 inches at our house and it was beautiful.  Fortunately we are off work for Christmas break and didn't have to get out and brave the roads unless we wanted to.

Here are a few pictures of the crazy snow of 2012.

27 & 28 Weeks

  • I am still here and still feeling good.
  • I am up 14.4 lbs which isn't bad considering we are only 2 days passed Christmas.
  • We braved the snow and ice (which is another post all together) and I made it to my doctor's appt today.  Everything is still looking good and on track.
  • I have felt Carter move more and move lately.  He really gets going around 8pm every night.
  • I have no complaints.  I can't believe I have made it this far.  My next appointment is in 3 weeks and then we will go to every 2 weeks then every week!  Crazy!!
  • We have made a lot of progress on Carter's room.  We cleared out all of the Christmas boxes, rearranged the furniture, and brought home the rocker and changing table that were being refinished (before and after pictures coming soon hopefully)
  • While my parents were here over Christmas, mom and I washed all of the clothes and got them organized.  My cousin has 3 boys and gave my tons of clothes.  It was becoming overwhelming looking at them in tubs.  Now they are all hung up and we have a general idea of what we have and what we will still need.
  • Carter is already being spoiled.  He got diapers, books, an outfit, and a toy for Christmas this year from family.

26 Weeks

  • Thanks to prenatal yoga, my back pain is pretty much gone.  I am sleeping in the bed again and getting a great nights sleep.
  • I went back to the doctor on Monday for another U/S and to take my glucose test
    • The U/S came back great.  Everything looks good and the amniotic fluid levels are normal.
    • My iron is a little low but not low enough to be forced to take iron supplements.
    • I passed my glucose test so no gestational diabetes.  I have to say the stuff you have to drink wasn't that bad.  It's fruit punch on steroids.  I have a major sweet tooth so maybe that is why I kind of liked the taste of it.
  • This week I gained 0.4 lbs so I am up to 9.6 lbs overall.
  • Carter now weighs 1 lb 14 ounces.
  • I was hoping to get another good 4D picture of his face at the U/S but my stubborn child was facing my back and refused to turn around.  I figured he would be wild after I drank the stuff for my glucose test, but apparently it had no effect on him.
  • I feel him move like crazy these days.  He seems to move more at night than during the day, but I love being able to feel him.

25 Weeks

  • I have slept on the couch/recliner 5 of the last 7 nights thanks to this nagging pain in the middle of the right side of my back.  The past couple of nights the only place I can sleep is in the recliner.  Thankfully I am still getting decent sleep, but I really miss my bed.
  • I lost 0.8 lbs this week (not sure how that happened), so I am up a total of 9.2 lbs overall.
  • I have started back exercising and even walked a 5K this past weekend.  The weather has been in the 60s here lately so I have started bringing my tennis shoes and walking on my lunch break.  I even took my 1st prenatal yoga class.
View from my lunchtime walk

  • Scott felt Carter move for the 1st time Wednesday night.  He has been moving more and move lately which I love.  It's a nice reminder that he is still in there and doing good.
  • Now that I have hit 25 weeks, the chances of viability are starting to increase drastically.  I want Carter to stay put for as long as possible, but knowing that I have hit this mark makes me breathe a little easier.

Random Thoughts and Happenings

  • It less than 20 days until Christmas and I am no where close to being finished with my Christmas shopping.
  • Only 10 working days left until Christmas break....it can't get here soon enough.
  • I am going to be an aunt again in one month from today, unless my nephew decides to make an appearance early.  I can't wait for him to get here and to see what his big sister thinks about him.
  • The Razorbacks hired a new coach this week....FINALLY!  The same day Arkansas State's coach jumped ship after 1 year and headed to Auburn to be the new head coach.
  • I am an ASU alum who loves with the Hogs and the Redwolves (apparently this is VERY uncommon in this state although they aren't in the same conference)
  • I find it funny that many of my DIE HARD ASU friends thought it was soo funny when the Petrino scandal went down and screamed and yelled that is U of A didn't fire him they were crazy...blah..blah...blah AND now those same people are posting about how they think he should come to ASU and coach.
  • I love Christmas movies and I am soo happy that Hallmark Channel is airing 2 new movies a week.  It keeps me entertained on Sundays when Scott is watching NFL.

Happy Friday!  I am sooo glad the weekend is finally here.

23 & 24 Weeks

  • This past Monday, I went back to the doctor for my 23 1/2 week appt.  I had another ultrasound b/c they weren't able to get a good enough look at Carter's face and lips during my "big" u/s at the end of October.  They gave me sneak peak in 4D and it's amazing how much he has changed in 4 weeks.
  • Carter is up to 1.5 lbs.  His weight had doubled in 4 weeks.  He is measuring 5 days ahead now.  He is a growing boy.
  • I, on the other hand, am up 10 lbs.  I blame the holidays for this quick weight gain.  My doctor was happy with where I am so I good with that.
  • Dr. Phillips called on Wednesday to tell me I am going to have to come back in a couple of weeks for another u/s.  For some reason that didn't get a good look at all 4 heart chambers this time like they did the 1st time so they want to take another look and one of their measurements of fluid showed a more than normal fluid, but another measurement showed it was normal so they are going to measure again.
  • Overall I am still feeling pretty good.  I have started to have some crazy leg cramps in my calves and I went through a spell where I was having back pain about every day, but it seems to all be getting better.
  • I took a week off from exercising over Thanksgiving, which was a bad idea, but I have started back this week and even signed up to walk a 5K this weekend.

Thanksgiving 2012

Let's face it I'm not a great storyteller so this Thanksgiving post will be in bullets

  • This year we headed to NW Arkansas to have Thanksgiving at my sister-in-laws house.  We headed up Wednesday afternoon and arrived just in time for dinner.
  • On Thursday, we had Thanksgiving lunch filled with wonderful food and about 25 people, mostly my brother-in-laws extended family.
  • After lunch we hung around and the guys watched football.
  • Eliza-Grace ran around and kept us all entertained.  This little girl is not going to know what to think when her brother makes his arrival in the coming weeks and her cousin arrives in March.  She is going from being the only grandchild to one of three.
  • On Friday, we headed to the Razorback game for the last game of the season.  Luckily it was a 1:30pm game and the weather was decent until the end of the 3rd quarter when the sun went down and it became freezing!!  Unfortunately the Hogs lost, but it was a pretty good game which came down the the last play of the game.
  • We came back to LR after the game and my parents came down on Saturday and brought Oliver back.
It was a great Thanksgiving break!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am Thankful for.....

  • My Marriage.  Scott and I have been married over 9 years and it has flown by.  I am often amazed by how little we argue.
  • Razorback football season being over.  What looked to be an awesome season took a quick turn with BP's scandal and turned out to be a terrible season.
  • Great doctors and nurses.  Dr. Phillips has been with me since the beginning of our journey to have a child and to see how she and her nurse were soo excited when I came in for my 1st prenatal visit made my day.  They are always willing to listen to my questions and they treat me more like a friend than a chart.
  • My mother being one of my best friends.
I can't believe December is almost here.  It will be Christmas before I know it.  Happy Thursday!

Also, I just noticed this is my 200th post!  I can't believe I have kept with it this long.

Thankful Thursday

I am Thankful for......

  • Great neighbors.  Our new couch came in last Thursday and we didn't have a way to pick it up.  We ran over to the neighbors house to see if we could borrow the truck and he didn't even hesitate.

  • Scott's boss.  The guy is always willing to help us out.  He helped Scott install our home gym in the garage, he built us a box to use when working out, and he came over at 6:30am to help Scott load a piece of furniture in the back of my SUV.

  • Living close enough to family that we get to spend time with them on all the major holidays.

  • Friends who work at the bank.  We had a little banking fiasco this week and being able to talk to someone you know always makes things a little easier when trying to get the problem fixed.

  • My health.  I have never had any major health problems and I am soo thankful for that.

  • Time off during the holidays.  I am soo fortunate to have a job that gives us a 4 day weekend at Thanksgiving and pretty much 2 full weeks at Christmas.

  • Food and Water.  I have been fortunate enough to never have to worry about clean drinking water or where my next meal will come from.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

22 Weeks

  • Life has been pretty uneventful this week, but I guess that is a good thing.
  • I have started to feel Carter move more and more each day.
  • I gained 1.6 lbs this week for a total of 5.6 lbs.
  • I can still wear some regular clothes, but I've started wearing my maternity pants to work almost every day.  They are soo comfy.
  • I've been having some back pain, but it comes and goes and hasn't been unbearable yet.
  • Overall, I am still feeling pretty good and haven't gotten my appetite back in full force.  I'm not sure yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing with the holiday season just ahead.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am Thankful for....

  • That I have a college degree.  Growing up I didn't know going to college was a choice.  It was something my parents instilled in my to make sure I was able to get a good job and support myself if needed.
  • That I am getting a raise.  Working for a school district has it's perks.  When the teacher's union negotiates a raise, 9 times out a 10 all staff gets a raise.  And it's just in time for Christmas.
  • My dog, Oliver.  He always makes me feel better when I have had a bad day and he loves to cuddle.
  • For a good nights sleep.  I was up all Tuesday night with terrible back pain and after dragging out the body pillow and a few rounds with a heating pad, I feel good as new.
  • To work with people who are also my friends.  My group consists of less than 10 people and we all get a long so well.
  • Good health insurance.  While my health insurance didn't cover infertility treatments, it does a pretty good job of covering all the major stuff.
  • Social Media.  It gives me an easy way to keep up with friends and what is going on in the world.  And if someone shares to much you always just hide them.

21 Weeks

With each week that passes by, I am amazed that this little boy is still inside me and things are still going great.

  • Last Friday night Scott and I made a trip to Gap and I bough a few maternity clothes.  I had a 40% one item and 30% off the rest of your purchase so I didn't feel bad splurging a little and I stuck to the basics...things that I can wear often, both to work and on the weekends.
  • I am up 1.4 lbs since last week and up 4 lbs overall.
  • So the fabric samples I ordered came in and the color was not what I expected.  I then ran across the perfect fabric at a Holiday Show yesterday.  I asked the girl where she got it and called them up.  Unfortunately the only place I have been able to locate this PERFECT fabric is at a store in Jackson, TN who refuses to mail it to me.  I am still dumbfounded by this fact.  Who refused to mail anything these days???  My parents, who are hands down the BEST parents ever, offered to drive there tomorrow and get it for me.  Fortunately, in the time since I started the post, I found that the fabric store also has a location in Tuscaloosa, AL.  I called them up and they were more than willing to ship the fabric to me!  Crisis averted.
  • I hate walking as a form of exercise.  I miss jogging soo much!  But nevertheless, I continue to walk so I don't hurt myself.  Better safe than sorry.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for......

  •  My right to vote.

  • The election being over.  Hopefully the political status updates on Facebook will some to an end soon.

  • My job.  While I may not always love my job, I glad that I have a good job with great benefits.  It's hard to believe I just celebrated 6 years here.

  • My love of budgeting.  My parents taught me the value of a dollar early in life and luckily it has stuck with me.

  • My extended family.  I am so fortunate to have great family.

  • My home.

  • My vehicle.

Weeks 18, 19, & 20

Wow.  I can't believe I've been soo lazy about uploading pictures from my camera.  There is no 19 week picture b/c I simply forgot.

  • I can't believe I am at the halfway mark.  There were soo many times I never thought I would make it here.
  • We finally picked out a name.......Carter Layne
  • We had our official gender u/s on Monday and even got a glimpse of Carter in 4D.  It was soo cool and made it even that much more real.
  • According to his measurements, he currently weighs 12 oz and it measuring 3 days ahead of schedule.
  • I started feeling movement at just over 18 weeks.  Had so many people not told me it would feel like flutters or bubbles, I probably would not have noticed it this early.
  • I have finally started gaining a little weight.  I am up 2.6 lbs.
  • I broke out my maternity pants on Tuesday for the 1st time.  I still have some pants that fit, but some of my dress pants have become uncomfortable and who doesn't love an elastic waistband.
  • I have had to stop jogging due to some ligament pain in my lower abdomen.  I am not a fan of walking, but I am going to try to make it a habit.  My plan is to start doing squats and lifting some weights again to help stay in shape.
  • I have picked out the bedding for the nursery and have ordered fabric samples to make sure it's really the color it looks to be online.
  • I am starting to think about all the little things we will need, so if anyone has an suggestions of must haves, please let me know!  I am clueless and overwhelmed by all of the options.

Thankful Thursday

I can't believe it is already November 1st.  This year is flying by and Thanksgiving is just around the corner (3 weeks from today!!)  In honor of Thanksgiving, I am again making a list of 30 things I'm thankful for.  My hope is to post every Thursday this month.

I am Thankful for......
  • this miracle boy growing in my belly
  • finding a doctor who was willing to take the time and figure out what was wrong with me and fix the problem.
  • my friends (blog and IRL) who know what it's like to suffer with infertility
  • the fact that with God's help, nothing is ever more than I can handle
  • my wonderful husband who always has by back
  • all of the lessons that 3 years of infertility has taught me
  • the best parents a girl could ask for

The Fair Game

Scott and I like to play the fair game.  You know... I drive half the trip, you drive half the trip or I do this if you do that.  It's all taken lightly and in good nature.

On Monday we were on our way back to my office after our Dr.'s Appt and I said to him "Hey, when you get home can you go upstairs and get our 2011 tax returns out of the filing cabinet?  Just grab the folder and bring it downstairs." (He was off work on Monday)

Scott: "Sure, send me a text so I won't forget."

(I then send him a text)

On Tuesday I am driving to work and it dawns on my that I didn't grab the folder.  When I start to think about it, I didn't even see the folder.  Tuesday afternoon he calls me and we are talking about dinner and I am ask him if he is ever going to go get the propane tank filled so that we can use the grill.  Scott then proceeds to say "When you get home, can you go unhook the propane tank and set it in the garage?  I will go get it filled when I get home."

Me:  "That depends....where are the 2011 tax returns I asked you to bring downstairs yesterday?  I didn't see the folder this morning."

Scott: "#$@#, they are upstairs on the computer desk.  I got them out of the filing cabinet, but forgot to bring them downstairs."

Me:  "I guess I will unhook the propane tank and leave it in the backyard.  Since you can't bring the folder downstairs, I can't bring the propane tank to the garage.  That's FAIR right?"

I'm not sure he found that quite as funny as I did, but in the end we both got a good laugh.  Needless to say, not only did I put the propane tank in the garage, but I went upstairs and got the folder myself.  Sometimes the fair game doesn't work as planned.

First Purchases

After finding out that we were having a boy we made our 1st purchases, received our 1st outfit, and some other clothes.
After our U/S last Friday, we ran over to a friends Furniture Store and bought a baby bed that we had been eying.  We weren't intending to actually take it home with us, but he happened to have on in stock.  My dad brought it back to Sherwood for us on Sunday and when I came home from work on Monday, Scott surprised me and had put it together.

My cousin's spent Thursday night and Sunday night with us since they were flying out of Little Rock and got this cute track suit and socks as a "Thank You."

My cousin has 3 little boys and she gave me a box full of boy clothes.  These happen to be the ones her 1 year old just outgrew, but she said she has 2 more boxes of even smaller clothes.

We also decided to order a stroller.  Amazon.com has been running a good sale on their BOB strollers and we decided to save a little money and go ahead and get one.  I knew this was the stroller I wanted and I didn't really want to look at any other brand.

I'm sure there will be many more purchases to come....this is only the beginning.

The Refinance from ___________

Back in July we decided we should look into refinancing our house.  After calling around a few places, I decided to call Wells Fargo since that is where our mortgage currently was.  They gave me a great rate and I was going to be able to reduce my loan from 30 years to 20 years and my payment would only go up around $100 a month.  We decided this was a great opportunity and started the process.
Everything started off fine, then I never got a call about an mandatory appraisal.  After finally calling the loan officer's boss, I was finally able to pay for and schedule my appraisal.  Then everything stalled once again.  I kept getting the run around and was repeatedly asked to send the same documents over and over.  I still can't figure out why I was asked 3-4 times to send copies of my flood insurance and hazard insurance when they already had both on file from where they were ALREADY paying them.  (I guess I shouldn't be surprised as a few months ago they asked for a copy of my hazard insurance, which they already had, and when I faxed it they promptly paid my hazard insurance again which caused the insurance company to mail me a check and then I had to turn around and pay it back to my escrow.)
We are required to have flood insurance b/c we live on a lake and that caused an entirely different set of problems for them.  I have never seen people push off blame soo much in my life.  We also have a 2nd mortgage with another bank that we DID NOT want to combine with our 1st mortgage.  This also caused an issue b/c they couldn't seem to figure out why in the world we wouldn't combine the two.  We have our reasons...
They were also NEVER able to tell me the exact amount of our new loan (as we were adding in the closing costs instead of bringing money to the closing).
Then 2 weeks ago they tell me we are almost ready to close and even go so far as having the title company call me and set up a time and then turn around and tell me they don't have all the documents yet.  Here we are almost 2 weeks later and we have finally closed on our refinance.
It took roughly 80 days from start to finish.  I made 3 mortgage payments before we were able to close on this loan.  Needless to say, I will NEVER has another mortgage with Wells Fargo.
Oh the joys of being a homeowner......

It's A.............

BOY!!

Last Friday Scott and I took a half day off work and headed to NE Arkansas with hopes of having Dr. C do a quick ultrasound and see if we could find out he gender of this kid.  Dr. C wasn't able to make it, but he scheduled us an appointment with the sonographer.  We were joking around with her and telling her that Dr. C didn't show up b/c he was afraid the guess he made at 12 weeks 2 days would be wrong.  She then says "Did he guess boy?"  Yes he did.  "Well then he was right."

After the appointment I texted Dr. C to tell him that he was right it was a boy and he responded with "Like I would be wrong."  HA!  I should have told him it was a girl!

We are overjoyed.  We didn't care if it was a boy or girl as long as the baby is healthy.  We got to listen to the heartbeat again with is now 155.  I am amazed every time we have an ultrasound and see that little heart beating.  It is truly a gift from God.  I am soo thankful for this little guy.

Now we just have to decide on a name.......

17 Weeks

  • I have made it to 17 weeks. It seems to be going by soo fast.
  • After being extremely tired for a few weeks, I am starting to get my energy back.  I have actually gone for a run 3 times in the past 6 days.
  • We are headed to NE Arkansas tomorrow and if everything works out Dr. C is going to do a quick ultrasound and see if we can tell the gender of this kid.
  • I am still down a pound from where I started, but I know the weight gain is just around the corner.
  • I am still wearing my regular clothes although my pants are getting a little tight.
  • I still have an aversion to most vegetables, but I have started to enjoy sweet potatoes again.
  • I have been a huge fan of fruit, cheese, crackers and fruit flavored popsicles.  Many days I crave chips and a coke, but I try to make these a treat a couple of times a week.
  • Overall everything is going good and I am soo grateful everyday for this baby.  God has truly blessed us

Weeks 14, 15, & 16

I have become a terrible blogger.  Part of it is due to being soo busy at work right now and part of it is being lazy and not uploading pictures from my camera on a regular basis and part of it is b/c I haven't had much of anything to say.

I am still hanging in there.  Below are a few pics from the last few weeks and some other random stuff I want to remember.

  • Overall I'm still pretty tired, but I think some of that has to do with work being sooo crazy busy right now.  I might have gone to bed at 7:55pm last night.
  • I am still down a couple of pounds, but I am sure it will start catching up to me any day.
  • We had another ultrasound on September 24th and everything still looks good.  Heartbeat was 165.  We tried to get a sneak peak at the gender, but the kid was not being cooperative.
  •  I am starting to get a little of my appetite back.  Usually anything healthy for dinner doesn't sound good, but I actually ate a full meal tonight.
  • I haven't worked out in any form in over a week now, but I hope to change that now that the weather is cooling off.
  • For now all of my regular clothes still fit.  I bought my 1st pair of maternity pants last weekend.  I had a 30% off coupon to Gap and I figured I am going to have to have a pair of work pants sooner or later so why not get them on sale.
Happy Thursday!!

Whirlwind Month

I know September was going to be a VERY busy month, but I didn't realize the effect all this traveling would have on me.
  • Labor day weekend started with a trip to Fayetteville on Saturday to watch the Hogs play.  We rode up with our friends Kevin and Darla and came back to LR after the game.  We didn't get home until about 12:30am, but the Hogs won (this may have been their only win all season).  We got up Sunday morning and drove to the lake to hang out with Scott's family.  By the time we got home on Monday I was exhausted from soo many hours in the car.
  • The 2nd weekend in September we headed to Jonesboro to visit my parents, see a few friends, and catch an ASU football game.  The weather was great for football.
  • The weekend of the 14th it was back to Fayetteville on Friday afternoon to watch the Hogs take on #1 Alabama.  The weather was nasty and rainy, but we set through 3 quarters of the game even though it was a beat down.  Luckily it was an afternoon game so after it was over we headed back to LR.
  • On Saturday while we were in Fayetteville, my dads brother passed away unexpectedly.  So on Monday afternoon Scott and I headed back to Jonesboro for the visitation and funeral.
  • Last weekend Scott and I made another day trip to Fayetteville to watch the Hogs again.  The weather was perfect for tailgating and the game.  This should have been a fairly easy win for the Razorbacks but the played terrible and lost.  We left at the end of the 3rd QTR and decided to head on back to LR.
  • After all the traveling, I am excited to stay in LR this weekend.  We have some friends getting married on Saturday night, but the wedding is in town.
I am soo ready to be able to take a couple of days off work to just relax and catch up on a few things around the house that have been neglected lately.  This is our busiest time of year at work, so those days off will have to wait a few more weeks.

The First 13 weeks in a Nutshell

Here are some pictures of life over the past 9 weeks, starting with the day we found out we were pregnant.

Although I was in shock, I only took 1 test that day.

7 weeks
9 weeks - Looks like I'm scared in this picture, but it's the only one I have.

12 weeks 1 day

A few things I want to remember:
  •  As of today, I am 13 weeks 1 day.
  • I haven't thrown up, but I do get nauseous if I go to long without eating.
  • I don't like vegetables anymore
  • I have an aversion to dinner in general some nights no matter what we are eating.
  • Although it looks like I've gained a little weight, I have actually lost a few pounds (probably from my inability to eat dinner most nights)
  • I had an U/S last Saturday at 12 weeks 2 days and that is when it finally sank in for me that this is real.  As someone who has struggled to get pregnant and had a miscarriage, I was constantly worried that something had happened to the baby and my body just hadn't told me something was wrong.
  • I continued to attend CrossFit classes until I was just over 11 weeks.  I now do it some in our garage, but nothing is timed and I work at my own pace and only do what I think I can handle.
  • I am tired a lot.  It used to take me forever to fall asleep at night, but now it takes no time at all.
  • I am still wearing normal clothes and b/c I'm cheap and have no clue how to shop for maternity clothes, I am going to make the clothes I have work for as long as possible.

Happy Friday!!  We are off to Fayetteville to watch the HOGS play.  Hopefully this weekend will be better than their game last weekend.

Exciting News!!!

So I have a lot of catching up to do.  I haven't been blogging much lately, b/c I've had some pretty exciting/amazing stuff going on and didn't want to spill the beans to early.

After a 2 year 11 month battle with infertility.............I'm PREGNANT!!

I think I am still in a state of disbelief.  I am 11 weeks today and everyday I pray that God will keep this baby safe and healthy.

The last time I posted about my journey we had just had our follow-up appointment from my surgery.  Dr. C decided to have me start taking Letrozole on day 3 of my cycle since my FSH is high for someone my age.  He said he hoped we would be pregnant within the next 6 months.  I started the Letrozole on June 16th.

Below are the posts I started on the 3 most important dates so far....the day we found out, the day of our 1st U/S, and the day of our 2nd U/S.

July 10, 2012
Today started started out like any other. Went to work, came home, decided on a whim to go out for pizza. Scott and I got to talking about when I would know whether my first month of Letrozole worked and I was pregnant. The thing is I should have started this morning, but I hadn't. I was putting off taking an HPT b/c I was terrified it was going to be negative. When we got home from dinner Scott talked me into taking it. I set it down and walked away. He kept going in to check it and eventually he picked it up and our conversation went something like....
Scott: "what do I do with it now? Put it back in the wrapper?"
Me: "Actually u should put the lid on it but why r u asking? Is it already done? What does it say?"
Scott: "I was gonna put it up. We don't need it anymore b/c it says ur pregnant."
 Me: "Are you serious????"
I'm pretty sure I did some jumping up and down and even a little dance.

So this is nothing like I pictured this moment would be.  I always thought I would surprise him with the results.  I guess the element of surprise kinda goes away after almost 3 years of trying to have a kid, being on a medicated cycle, and being put on a "schedule."  All in all, I really don't mind that this is the way it turned out.

I am beyond excited!  I have had a good feeling about this for the past month, and I have prayed every day that I wasn't just getting my hopes up.  God has a plan and He has PERFECT timing.  I am still nervous and I will be until I have an ultrasound and we confirm that everything looks OK.  Patients with a history of endometriosis are at a higher risk for etopic pregnancy.  Things seem different this time around.  I feel different than the last time I was pregnant.  I can't wait to meet this baby!!!!

Today is Scott's Birthday.  For the past 2 weeks I have been on pins and needles trying to believe that this pregnancy is really REAL.  Dr. C thought I should get an ultrasound just to make sure everything was OK and I'm sure he also thought this would calm my nerves.  So today, at 5weeks 6 days we drove to NE Arkansas to see Dr. C.  After making me wait for 45 minutes in which I'm sure my blood pressure was through the roof, they finally called us back.  What followed may have been the best thing ever.  Immediately I saw the yolk sac and after a few seconds, we saw our baby.  After a little bit longer, Dr. C said "And there's the heartbeat....this is the 1st time you have gotten to see a heartbeat right?" and at that I lost it.  Last time, we never got to see a heartbeat.  Dr. C even took a little video of it with our iPhone.  What an awesome birthday present my husband got today.  I don't think we could have asked for anything better.

Today was our 1st appointment with my OB.  At times I thought this day would never come and at times I couldn't believe how quickly this day was approaching.  My appointment was at 10:15 and they were running only about 10 minutes late.  The nurse that called us back is the same nurse that has been with me every step of the way the past 3 years.  She was beyond excited that we were FINALLY pregnant.  Once Dr. P came it she also couldn't hide her excitement for us.  It is awesome to have doctors and nurses who remember you and your journey and are soo excited for you.  Dr. P decided she would try the U/S on my stomach 1st to save me from the wand.  She wasn't able to find anything and I told her I have a tilted uterus so she decided to let the U/S tech have a try.  She found the sac, but she still wasn't getting a good picture.  So after a quick break we tried with the wand and there is was.....a beautiful, perfect baby.  You could even see the arm and leg buds.  The heartbeat was a strong 179.  Everything was perfect!!!  We couldn't be more excited and this is finally sinking in that this is REAL!  We are having a baby!!  Baby Young's estimated arrival date in March 21, 2013.

It took until our doctor's appointment on the 13th to really feel comfortable enough that this was real to start telling anyone outside of immediate family.

It was 1077 days from the day I ditched the pill until the day I got to see our baby's heartbeat.  It was a VERY long wait, but worth every minute.

In other news, I woke up this morning to the news that Giuliana & Bill had their baby boy last night!! They have been through soo much and I am over the moon excited for them!!

Happy Happy Thursday!

Catching up.....

  • Scott and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on August 9th.  I can't believe how fast time has flown.  We kept is low key since it was a week night and grilled steaks and had homemade sweet potato fries.

  • We haven't had a whole lot going on in August and we are trying to enjoy it.  July was action packed every weekend and so it has been a nice break this month.  It will be short lived b/c we have something planned EVERY weekend in September.

  • Speaking of September and the fact that football season is right around the corner, look what we got last week!!  Our season tickets!  This is the 1st year and probably that only year for a long time we will every splurge on season tickets, but we are VERY excited.

  •  Arkansas Public Schools started back yesterday which means busy times ahead for the next couple of months at work.

  • August has been unusually mild in Arkansas this year and it is making my anxious for fall.  It has been in the 60's here the past few mornings when I have gotten up.

  • I have have a REAL post I am working on and will hopefully get it posted in the next couple of weeks.

Random Thoughts and Happenings

  • A lot of times, I feel like a lead a pretty boring life.  We get up, go to work, workout, cook dinner, watch a little TV, go to bed....repeat.  Very rarely to we do something out of the ordinary during the week.  The fact that it has been over 100 degrees here for the past week hasn't really helped either.

  • Last Wednesday was Scott's Birthday.  We decided to not celebrate Wednesday night b/c it was a "school night" so we waited and went out Friday night for a fabulous dinner at the Butcher Shop.

  • Saturday we hosted the 1st annual Pool-A-Palooza.  We usually have a big lake trip (Lake-A-Palooza) and after it fell through this year, we decided we should just have a pool party instead.  The weather was perfect and hot.  We had lots of good food and fun times with great friends.

  • I have been obsessed with the Olympics.  I love watching swimming and gymnastics.  The first couple of days I actually waited until the events were replayed in primetime, but lately I've either been trying to stream the even live on my computer at work or checking the web periodically to see if my favorite athletes won a medal.
  • Things are about to get crazy busy at work.  On one hand I'm super excited b/c it will make the days go by quickly, but on the other I hate being sooo busy it feels like you can't get much accomplished in a day.

Happy Thursday

Life Lately

  • Scott and I spent the week of the 4th of July in Seagrove, Florida on the beach.  It was a much needed vacation.  The weather was awesome, in the 80's everyday.  It rained a few days we were there, but we were able to always get a least a half day in on the beach.  We spent one rainy afternoon at the outlet mall in Destin.  We didn't take many pictures, but I will try to eventually post a few that we took.

  • My new shoes finally came in and I got to try them out on Monday at Crossfit.  I LOVE them!  I hope this solves all of my ankle rolling problems.

  • To show you that I am a clutz, we were packing for our trip to Florida and I had laid the suitcase in the floor in the bathroom.  On one of my trips through the bathroom to get clothes, I ran straight into the wheel of the suitcase.  Needless to say, my little toe turned blue/purple.  And to top it off, it was the same foot that already had a bum ankle.

  • Since we took our vacation seriously, we didn't work out once while we were there.  So after 11 days off, Monday was our first day back at Crossfit.  It was brutal!  My calves are still soo sore 2 days later.
    • Here is a rundown of the WOD:
      • 1 mile run
      • 150 double under's
      • 800 m run
      • 100 double under's
      • 400 m run
      • 50 double under's
      • Finish time: 30:43 rx!

  • While at the beach, I started readying Fifty Shades of Grey.  I didn't know much about the books going into it except that they were racy.  I had several blog friends and friends on Facebook talk about how great they were, so I thought I would give it a shot.  I'm about 60 pages into the 3rd book now and all I can say is WOW.  These books are good, but I'm not sure I will ever read something like this again.  Luckily, the 2nd and 3rd books don't seem to be as explicit as the 1st book.

  • The first week back to work after vacation is never fun.  I am counting down the days until Friday!!  Happy Wednesday!
