Medical School Graduation

Oh no. It is happening again. The blog is dying a slow death and needs to be resuscitated. Must...not...let....it...die....
So much has happened quickly, it is best not to play caught up and just hit on some big notes. For example: that Sean is now an M.D. and that we have moved to LA, Oh! and that I am extremely pregnant. You know? That type of stuff.

Four years have flown by. Why is it that time starts to move faster the older you get? I remember being little and an hour felt an eternity, makes me feel kinda bad for Jakob when I force him to go shopping with me. Probably feels like 3 hours for him.

Here are the pictures from Sean's graduation ceremony:
Below is Sean getting hooded by Dr. Maguire, one of his mentors and favorites.

Both sets of parents came down for the ceremony.

And our dear friends of 8 years also came and struggled through the ceremony with us with the kiddos. Bless them.

Sean is wearing a long white coat now (graduated from the short medical school coat) and when he puts orders in the hospital, people respond with a "yes, Dr. Sumsion". Pretty cool. FYI - he won't be able to write prescriptions until next year, so we'll help you out with that Vicodin later. Just kidding. You are going to have to seriously injure yourself first.

After everything is said and done and I can say that getting Sean through Medical School successfully was a huge group effort. We had so much support from our two families it blows my mind. They were there every step of the way and it made a huge difference to our small family. Sean's parents were always pumping him up over the phone and giving him encouragement. My family kept me happy and sane and I knew they would drop anything at anytime if needs be.

I am really grateful that our little family was able to have this experience and opportunity for Sean to fulfill a life-long dream. And grateful again for everyone that helped. My heart is filled with love right now! Feel the love... you deserve it.

Baby and Gender!

So, we are expecting our 2nd baby! Yeah! I have told as many people as I see/talk to on a regular basis, but I still would like to get this out there for the rest of you. Also...we know the gender. I am 20 weeks along and we just had our ultrasound appointment this week.

This pregnancy has had my body reacting to it like poison. I was so sick during the 1st trimester -  everything from watching TV to being on the computer made me nauseated. This alone explains why my blogging fell off. I didn't start to feel better until a couple of weeks ago. I literally tried every trick in the book which only helped a little. I was doing the mini meals and NOT drinking water or any liquids with the food. Taking Vitamin B6 four times a day along with Zantac twice a day and Unison before bed. It was fun?

Every time I see this little baby though, I fall in love. Here are the pictures of baby:

I love the gummy bear pictures. Just 10 weeks here.

Nice profile of baby at 13 weeks

All stretched out. Also at 13 weeks.

And now the 20 weeks ultra sound....here are the little feet.

Annnd the most recent profile at 20 weeks.....are you dying to know yet? Wait for it.....

Well, we love her. And by HER I mean we are having a girl. Yeah! We are excited to have both sexes out of the way and excited for pink bows and ribbons!

I was on pins and needles while the doctor was doing the ultrasound but once he found out Sean was about to graduate from medical school, he pain-stakingly went through all the anatomy for his benefit. He took about a full hour and my pants were covered with ultrasound goo when he was done and Jakob was hell bent on destroying the ultrasound machine. When I finally found we were having a girl, I was thrilled and then immediately worried about all the clothes I had to buy.

Due date is September 28th - another California baby as we head up to LA in a month. PS, Sean would like to add that he is also thrilled!

Happy Birthday Mom!

What is this? Another tribute blog! Well, this is one way to get my lazy bum blogging again, I guess. I swear I have a good reason for not blogging in so long but, I will save that explanation for another day. For now, it is time to celebrate my mother.

People always ask me where my brown hair comes from and here is the answer:
My Mama! We have the same color hair and eyes which, she was generous enough to pass on to me. This is a fantastic picture of her in High School and I am loving all the 70's style clothing. Did I ever tell you my mom was a bit of an intellectual hippie? She did the sit-in protests and listened to that good 70's music. Awesomeness confirmed (read with robot voice please).

High School Graduation. I LOVE these old photos. Look how foxy! I was always proud she was my mom growing up. All my elementary school would tell me how pretty she was and I was like "Do whatever I ask now because my Mom is the prettiest " and then they did.

We are in college now. Where my Mom graduated in 3 years thanks to her genius brain having a ton of AP credits from High School (apparently those used to do something for you, not so much now) and where she (gasp) joined the young democrats. This is an ever so 70's style photo shoot done by a photography major who had a thing for shorter women. Did I mention my Mother is small. 5'3"

And now, a classic wedding day shot. My parent's photographer never showed up on their wedding day, so wedding pictures are few and far between. But what they lack in quantity they make up for in adorableness. My parents are dangerously cute in this.
And on a side note, there is Grandpa in the corner, he looks the same to me.

OK, that trip down memory lane was fun - now lets get to the meat of things. My mom as a mom. She is fantastic. She is the most loving women ever and so kind to everyone. Sometimes kindness can pigeon hole people into a sugar sweet stereotype - don't let that fool you. She is also FIERY. And if you mess with her kids she will destroy you. She has a back bone and always says what should be said  - I am very proud of what she stands up for!

Some fun, random facts about my Mom:

1. She is an extreme couponer. This has made more then one cashier upset.
2. She has two bachelor degrees, one in music history and the other in piano performance. No, I cannot play a note.
3. She also has a master degree in Choral Conducting, which was obtained while I was in High School.
4. She loves to write music and I may or may not have found some long-forgotten poems written by her in High School while I visiting at the Grandparents house. She is an artist.
5. She is not materialistic or vain and sometimes goes out without makeup. I didn't realize this was uncommon until much later in life.

OK OK.... Too much writing. Back to the photos. Here is my Mom doing her current favorite activity: being a Grandma.

She couldn't wait to get her hands on Jakob after he was born. She was so excited to be a grandma!

She has started teaching him young and hopes he takes to music more then I did.

Mom loving Jakob in his chubby stage.

Jakob enjoying another music lesson given by Grandma.
Visiting for Jakob's 2nd Birthday. He was excited to see Grandma!

Kissing and tickling his feet just like she use to do with us kids growing up.

Reading Jakob books - Richard Scarry books are the best.

Taking Jakob to the San Diego Zoo (try to ignore my floating head).

Reading some more after a busy day.

Well, Mom, if you can't tell, then let me make it clear how much I love and adore you. Thank you for being a wonderful Mom and Grandmother and for the excellent example of womanhood.

Happy Birthday!

Happy 30th Sean

Happy Birthday Sean (side note: also Scott (twins!)). I have known you for 7.5 years now and during that time we have taken 2,288 pictures of you. Now, you may have seen this coming.....a birthday blog post with as many of those pictures that I can fit on here. Now, Blogger rejected my first attempt at uploading 60 pictures so, I have whittled it down; but, will do no less then 40 pictures! I have so many pictures, I have had to categorize them. And you know that I can't let you off easy on your 30th birthday. Enjoy the Seanfest.

The early years category:

Sean wearing weird stuff category:

Sean having a love affair with food:

Enthusiastic Sean:

Silly Sean Catergory:

Sean being a great Dad:

Normals of us:

So what can we gather from these 40 pictures of you? Well, you really like food. But, besides that, what a fun, easy going, loving man you are. You are my truest and best friend. You make me so happy!

Congratulations on living to 30 years. Now lets raise our imaginary glasses with our imaginary (fake)wine and toast to a life well lived. Here's to another 30.....and then another 30 after that.....and, well, after that, I am not too optimistic. Wink wink. Love you.
