Trip to Ohio

The kids spent a lot of time in front of the mirror in the hotel room.

We went to Ohio on Thursday to see Dan's graduation ceremony. The kids did okay, considering that we were all exhausted. They did really well on the plane, too. On the way to Ohio, Ben slept during take-off and landing, and he slept the for the whole flight on the way back. Nikki fell asleep both times when we started to taxi out of the terminal and woke up after we landed.

Congratulations to Dan! I can't believe he has his PhD! I'm so proud of him! I guess I should stop trying to compete with him--I'm getting my butt kicked! I accidentally left my camera in the car during the ceremony, but I was able to get a short video clip of him on the stage with Gram's camera.

Nikki is checking out the tree swing that arrived in the mail. I think she approved of it.

Ben is enjoying reading his book.

We use this basket to store the dogs' toys. This morning, I found it emptied of the toys, which were scattered across the kitchen/dining room, and this clue was left behind. Curious, very curious.

Outside

This weekend the weather was nice enough for us to spend time outside. It was the first time the kids have spent any time outside in the past six months. We went to a rugby game in Baltimore on Saturday. Joe's team lost, but it was a close game (12-17). Everyone seemed to have a good time, though.

The funniest part--the kids were on a blanket under our big tent, and they would not leave the blanket. They would crawl right up to the edge and stop. Not even the 4 month old puppy could lure them off of the blanket! It was the same at home on Sunday. They finally ventured off the blanket late in the afternoon, but even then they went only a couple of feet. LOL.

(Ben is sitting on the grass in the picture because it was taken before I brought the blanket outside.)
Nikki was showing us how pretty she was in her new hat. Ben's head is so big that the 12-24 month hats are too small for him!

A random cute picture of Ben in his crib. This was taken when he woke up the other morning. It's nice to walk into their room at 6 am to find him smiling at me!

Nikki and me. She really does have Joe's eyes. Mine are definitely more green than blue.

New hairdo

Joe gave Nikki a new hairdo after her bath the other night.

We got a ball at the store. Ben loves it!

Correction

Ben with our friend Heather

I have to make a correction regarding the previous post. Nikki has two teeth coming in at the same time. She's a trooper. Ben is feeling much better now, too. Things are back to normal.

Teeth!

Ben's first tooth broke through a couple of days ago. He's been pretty cranky the past couple of days, plus he has had a bad cold (which he gave to me!). Nikki's first tooth broke through yesterday. We had no idea there was one there until she sucked on my finger and I could feel it. It's impossible to look in her mouth, because every time you try to open her mouth or move her lip, she sticks her tongue out! It's pretty darn cute.

Everyone wants to be in Dad's lap

Why suck on your own fingers when your sister's will do?

Going to the gym

Joe and I joined the YMCA in January. It is the best gym in the area, and it has child care included in its membership fee. I take the kids with me when I go, and they have a great time. They don't even notice when I come back to pick them up!

Here they are right after I drop them off:

Here they are when I come to pick them up:

Nikki really likes the girls who work there (Jamie, Linda, and Brandi-not pictured). That is unusual for her because of her stranger anxiety. Jamie told me today that Ben and Nikki are happy as long as they are together. They separated them once to feed one of them, and they both started crying. Once they were together again, they were instantly happy :-)
