We are continuing to have a great trip. Silas has done beautifully with the surgery. We go in tomorrow to have his drains removed. Alyssa leaves in the morning - we will miss her! She has been a HUGE help and such a blessing on our trip. I wish she was staying longer. I'm looking forward to having almost 2 more weeks here. We LOVE Manhattan Beach. Seriously, if it wasn't across the country I would love to live here.

God is Great!
We had a great day today! Silas' surgery went great. There were a couple changes from the initial plan once the doctor got in and was doing the procedure. All is good though and he thinks Silas will have a really good result. Dr. Reinisch took a video and lots of pictures during the surgery so we could see Silas' ear before it was bandaged. It is unbelievable! It will be a while before it looks as good as it did because of swelling. I will not be posting the pictures on the blog due to Silas' privacy.
We arrived at the surgery center around 6:15 am and left around 5:30 pm. The surgery was probably around 9 - 9 1/2 hours. We talked to the nurse 4 - 5 times throughout the day. It was so helpful to know my baby was doing well. Dr. R came out as soon as the surgery was over and went over everything with us. He is amazing! He showed us the video and pictures. We then went down to recovery and were with Silas before he woke up. It took him a little while to wake up. He drank several cups of apple juice and ate some crackers. We changed his clothes and headed home! He dozed on and off on the way home.
Once we got home he ate 3 popsicles, tortilla chips, corn, taco meat, cereal and drank some water. He was starving! He and the girls watched a little of "Toy Story" and then Silas wanted to go for a walk (of course buckled in the stroller)! This child is amazing. He never shed a tear all day, and is such a little trooper. He is already learning that mommy and daddy can help him though. He was required to be so independent at a young age before we got him. Normally allowing us to help him with things is hard for him. I think this will be so good for our relationship.
Right now he is fast asleep. He was so tired when he went to bed! I'm exhausted too. Pictures will come tomorrow! Thank you everyone for your prayers. The were felt all day long. Also a BIG thank you to my sis, Alyssa, who took great care of the girls today. They had a blast going to the beach and exploring the little town we are staying in.

Morning of Surgery
The surgery nurse has called us twice since his surgery has started. Once to let us know they began the surgery and the second just to touch base and let us know that he is doing very well. Dr. Reinisch also came out early on because there was a change in one step of his surgery. So thoughtful he came out to tell us before he did the surgery than to wait until afterwards and tell us about the change.

Ready To Go!!
We are ready to begin our big adventure tomorrow! We're packed except for last minute toiletry things. We'll be leaving super early tomorrow morning and should arrive in LA at 10:30 their time. We have our first appointment at 4:00 and are looking forward to meeting his surgeon.
Silas is excited, but his nervousness and fear is starting to come out this afternoon. This is totally understandable! Pray he will be able to enjoy himself tomorrow instead of being hypervigilant about everything. The girls are so excited they are driving me crazy! Is it bedtime yet???
We'll we are going to Panera for a quick dinner. The kitchen is closed tonight!
