Emigration Canyon Ridgeline Trail

So I have been itching to go hiking for awhile and finally we were able to go. We have been talking about getting one of those child carrier backpacks and I came across one on ksl.com for a good deal so we got it. And after we got it, all I wanted to do was go hiking, I just couldn't wait any longer. Even though it was threatening rain today, I thought we could try to sneak in a hike before the rain came. So we woke up and it looked nice outside and so off we went. We didn't get to do the whole hike before we thought it best to turn around and head back because the rain kept heading our way. (As you can see the sky in the background, it wasn't a bright and sunny day) Seth had to hurry back with Ari to try to not have her get wet.  We got a little bit of rain at the end, but overall a success. It was a pretty hike with some really cool views. I think we will have to go back and go all the way to the end because there is a great view of the Salt Lake Valley at the end. Obviously the seat was comfortable enough for Ari to fall asleep in it. She was awake most of the time and really seemed to enjoy it. We are really happy with our new backback toy so far!

Somebody turned 7 months this week! She is learning to get around, she can push up on her hands and knees, but hasn't gotten the crawl down quite yet.  She can army-crawl though. She loves her parents, spoons, credit cards and going on walks. She does not like rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, squash, applesauce, pears or anything else I have tried. :) Maybe one day, but for now just milk.

Happy Mother's Day!

Ari waking up in the morning - who cannot have a good day when you wake up to that cute face!!
Seth decided to start the tradition of making breakfast and serving it to mommy in bed. It was cute. After I smelled burning, he came in to see if by chance I wanted to come and help. He was making Breakfast Quinoa and it had boiled over and burned. It didn't appear to be cooked all the way and looked super brown.  He had put in 8 times the cinnamon because he thought last time it didn't have enough. :) So after  we cooked it a little longer, we went back and ate it in bed.  It was very cute of him and actually turned out pretty good in the end. A good tradition to start I think. Maybe a few more practices and he will have it down perfect.  What a good husband! I must say, these past couple of weeks, he has conquered the breakfast-burrito-making. He makes a killer breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, cheese and tortillas.

Ari in her cute leg warmers. Mommy loves leg warmers, maybe because she was born in the 80's.
Well it is official, Ari sits up very well on her own. She is learning to scoot forward and is good at going backwards. She is getting quite strong and can stand up for quite awhile if she is holding on to something. She loves to suck on the metal part of her binkie clip as shown in the photo. She just started adding rice cereal to her diet and doesn't seem to love it too much. She loves finding her voice and making herself known.

Ari and Daddy having a sound battle. Ari likes to makes noises to overpower Daddy's voice. Quite cute.

Ari wants to be a grown up, she loves spoons. And she loves to pretend she is getting a drink from our glasses. She feels like such a big girl. We've started transitioning her to her crib for naps and nighttime. Well she starts the night off in her crib and usually at some point in the night comes and joins us in bed. We are working on that one. She loves hair, as most babies do, and will play with Mommy's hair or her own hair while she lulls herself to sleep.

Mommy with Ari on Mommy's birthday. Nothing could be a better present than such a cute, happy child.
Other news, Seth is now the Ward Mission Leader, which is a great calling for him. I think he will do a great job. I just got called to be in the Primary Presidency (1st Counselor). That will be a new one for me, I have never done much with the Primary. The Primary in our Ward is very small, probably less than 20 kids. I think I will enjoy it, I am a little sad that I will miss Relief Society. I really enjoy Relief Society, but I am excited for my new calling.

We went and got Ari a passport. We hope to take a fun vacation before she is too mobile. We are thinking Cancun. We'll see what happens. We are going to San Antonio in June for a little Paul Nielsen family reunion so we will see how she does with travel. We are excited to go and see the family!

Anyone have good Father's Day traditions they like? I want to start something fun. I was thinking maybe a special meal each year? Ideas??
