QCHS Graduation 2018

Got the graduation wall decorated, made candy and ribbon lei's, let the commencement begin...
Noah had graduation at ASU, which is nice because there's enough parking and it's large enough to fit everyone. There were 550 kids graduation tonight. It's the largest class Queen Creek has had, plus it's the 30th anniversary of Queen Creek. It was a nice night celebrating the seniors. Good luck to them on their next adventure in life!

One Last Mesa Temple Visit

Lexine and I wanted to savor our Mesa Temple memories with one last visit before it closes for the next two years and has quite the changes planned for it.  We didn't have a lot of time, so we just did a session of temple sealings, then spent a few quiet moments in the celestial room.  It was a nice one last time visit before it closes on May 19th.  What wonderful memories we have of that temple where both of use were sealed to Cindy and Rod, as well as our own marriage which took place there.  We look forward to the new temple renovations to come!

Track Banquet

Noah & Jonah had their Track Banquet last night! Wow... what a night for Noah! He was awarded many time over for his performance and hard work this season. He even made some of his coaches tear up. They all had great things to say about him. They even had an award named after him! Jonah was the best high jumper this year even with being sick for half the season. Can’t wait to see what he does in the next two years! So proud of both these boys and what they accomplish! I know their dad is cheering them on, on the other side! 💜💛

Garrett goes back to Concepcion Chile!

With it being the best two years of MY life with Garrett on his mission, wouldn't you know the first chance I got, I would send him back!  And that's exactly what I did!  :-)  Funny coincidence, which is too coincidental if you ask me, but the screens we sent to the Chile Concepcion temple needed some extra work and I needed to have two guys go work on them.  So I thought of who would be the best to send...someone who knows the language, area, culture, members (if we needed an extra hand) -- obviously Garrett was the first choice having just returned from there to Join Aaron in that installation.  It was a good thing he did, because shortly after getting through customs and searching everywhere for Aaron, he discovered they wouldn't let Aaron into the country, so he was alone on this job.  But he was the right man for the job and saw to it that he got everything completed that he could possibly do -- thank goodness he went on the Oakland temple job just a couple week before!  He learned a lot on that trip and got to see first hand what my work trips are all about -- lots of work, little fun!  That's exactly how his trip went...working from morning until 8 or 9pm at night. But he still managed to squeeze in a little bit of fun.  One evening after work he went by and visited his mission president.  On Saturday, as coincidence would have it, two of his old companions got put together as another missionary went home and they were given permission to swing by the temple and say hi to him for a few moments.  Then on Sunday before his plane left, he was able to attend church to see another old companion and have one of his good member friends visit him for lunch.  Then he was off back home, sitting in middle seats during the long hauls, having his luggage lost which caused him to miss his flight home, but it was nice to welcome him home once again!  Great job buddy...I sure love you.

Happy Mother's Day!

I've been richly blessed with many amazing women in my life beginning with my own wonderful mother who raised me and taught me more than I can even acknowledge about life, being responsible, kind and always doing my very best.  I was once again blessed to marry another amazing woman Cindy, whose motherly instincts. nurturing and teaching our children made me love beyond measure.  Lexine is another of those amazing women of my life who came into it at a very lonely time for me and has filled a void I did not know I had, but I so love and appreciate her for loving me and my children, and jumping in where Cindy left -- these fruits of both of these women are so evident in the accomplishments of these great children we have.  But I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge the other wonderful mothers who have also profoundly influenced our families for the better.  Grandma Porter, Grandma Glasgow and Grandma Clark...we love and appreciate you!

I hope this weekend was adequate at showing my gratitude to Lexine for all she does for me.  I decided to try something new this by getting her some plant Tulips, but by the time they made it home they were not looking so hot. I took her out for breakfast at Kneaders which is one of her favorites -- free for mom's on mothers day, to dinner at KrazySub which she picked, then to see the new Avenger's movie and then back to our home and family.  I love how she says she's content just being with me no matter how simple the things are we do together.  You are truly wonderful Lexine and I hope you know how much you are loved.

We also visited the cemetery today and remembered and honored Cindy for her life and the wonderful mother she was and is still.  We have no idea all that she is still doing for us on the other side of the veil -- but I'm certain she is still very much involved in our lives and is beaming with pride of the great decisions of her children, who honor her in how they have and are living their lives.  We love her and recognize her influence ad all that she stood for that continues to live on through me and our children.  We love you Cindy and love the Heavenly Wife and Mother you are to us...we hope you know how much we thought of you this day and everyday.

Its great to see the next generation of mothers stemming from Cindy & Lexine in Kami, Bentley and Maizey who radiate the great women who have have made such a great impact and influence on them.  Married or not and with children or not, you are already wonderful examples of women and mothers and I feel so blessed to have you too as some of the amazing women in my life.

I sure love you all...Happy Mothers Day to all of you!

Caleb Speaks in Church on Mother's Day

Caleb was asked to speak at Church today for Mother's day along with 5 other of the youth.  He did a great job honoring both of the mothers he's been blessed to have in his life.  He shared a funny story which got some good laughs -- almost too much laughter.  But it was so true about mothers and all they do that so often goes un-noticed...and got lots of comments about how good that story was and that it should be read each year.  He wasn't sure who the author was, but here is the story:

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.  There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids, keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money and budget money for groceries each week.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor, a dentist and a haircut appointment.
He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal pains, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings, but not complain as much as they could or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book and then pray with the children each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth, and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

They must find time to make dinner for a neighbor in need and ensure they’ve fulfilled their monthly visiting teaching assignments.

A quiz will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes sizes, and doctor's name.  Also the child's weight at birth, length at birth, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear, and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote dads off the island based on performance.

If there is a man who wins, he can play the game over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right to be called a good Mother!

Great job Caleb!  That was an awesome talk...I sure love you!

Nova Scotia

Toby had to be in Halifax Nova Scotia for the week. So of course I tagged along. We flew into Bangor Maine and then drove 6 1/2 hours to Prince Edward Island. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape and seascape as we drove. Loved see old farm houses and barns and farmlands. We went and saw Anne of Green Gables and went to the beach. The weather was pretty chilly and very windy. We didn’t have a lot time to really explore, plus it’s still off season and most everything is closed. Then we drove down to Charlottetown and stayed the night. Loved exploring this little town and seeing the churches and old buildings. The next day we took a 1 1/2 hour ferry across to Nova Scotia. We drove another 2 hours to Halifax. We stayed right down town and loved seeing all the old buildings and churches. After we got to the hotel, we got in the car again and drove 45 minutes along the coast to Peggy’s Cove and enjoyed the lighthouse and huge boulders there. The next day we walked around the town and looked at different churches and an old grave yard from the 1700’s and then made our way to the Citadel. It’s an old fortress from the 1700’s. It had great views of the city and great history. They had an old war museum and we even saws some of great...grandpa Jonathan Brownings guns. Afterwards we drove back across the river and got ready for our conference. We had a pretty good turn out and talked to quite a few people about our home theater movie screens. Our last day we had breakfast and took off for our 7 hour drive back to Maine. This time we drove to Fundy National Park and were able to see the Hopewell Cove. It has the worlds highest tide..40ft! It was amazing to see!! So worth the little detour! We made it back to Maine on time and then headed back home the next day! What an amazing trip! Wish I could take video and pictures with my eyes. My photos don’t do this beautiful country justices.
