We have been blessed to have these two lovely grandmas staying with us for December through part of January, so they were able to enjoy all the holiday fun with us this year! It was Nice to have both Lexine's and Rod's widowed mothers' both stay with us at the same time and watch movies, go out to lunch, get pedicures and all sorts of fun things that they did together. We're glad we had this time to spend with both of them...

Sevark Christmas Morning 2022
Christmas morning has surely changed from our first Christmas as a large family 12 years ago! This year it was only Maizey, Noah and Jonah home with us, along with Grandma Glasgow and Grandma Clark who are staying with us for a couple months. Caleb was off to Hays' family celebrating Christmas with then now that they are engaged. And all the other kids are married having their own families, but they came later in the morning, but it was a little difficult getting everyone together this year since it was on a Sunday, so everyone had their sacrament meetings to coordinate around. Regardless it was a wonderful day with our family, exchanging gifts and remembering the most important reason for this day -- the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Severtson Christmas Eve
The very big Severtson Christmas Eve party was at our house this year with Grandma & Grandpa Severtson providing giant Pizzas for everyone again! It was a wonderful evening of eating and visiting, following our gift exchange Swedish style, opening them on Christmas eve which has always been the tradition of Grandpa Severtson's side of the family. Afterwards we had a special visitor stop by which was even more fun for the grandkids and now great grandkids! It was a nice evening altogether plus to have Linda there, however we missed Karen and Nick this year. Its amazing how this family has grown since I was a kid and remember this Christmas get together in the tiny home of Nanny (Grandma Severtson)...but its still as wonderful as well even though there's so many now we miss, but will one day see again!

2022 Sevark Christmas Card
This is our 2023 Christmas card picture from Garrett & Bailey's wedding...it didn't have all of us in it this year, but that's getting next to impossible with how large our family's getting and all the different directions our lives are going in! We've been so busy with Jonah returning from his mission, holiday festivities and a last minute business trip to Thailand that we didn't send any out this year -- so this will have to do. From all of us Sevark's, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas as we remember and celebrate birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Nana's Gingerbread House Night
Each year about this time, Lexine like to have her annual gingerbread house making night and this year it was even better since it was also sugar cookie decorating night as well! What fun it was for the grandkiddos as you can see in the pictures. All sorts of creativity loaded with lots of SUGAR! :-) It can't get much better than that!

CineAsia Thailand Trip
With CineAfrica cancelling last minute leaving Lexine and I with huge airline credits, Kirk, Dan and I decided we might as well use the credit to visit the CineAsia show in Thailand for the first time this year and since it has been cancelled a few years in a row due to Covid, so Lexine and I luckily found the perfect flights and were off on one more trip this year! Our flights went through Japan, so we had a stop at Japan's Narita airport, then had to take a bus to the Haneda airport 1.5 hours away -- which was no problem since we had a 7 hour delay there. Then it was back on our way to Bangkok!
Bangkok was amazing! As our driver picked us up and drove us to the hotel, we saw the new Bangkok temple under construction to be open in 2023, so that was a pleasant surprise and when we got to our hotel we crash after such a long trip. Later in the afternoon we got up and started walking. We never know what the safe areas are at first and were a little cautious since the area our hotel was in seemed a little older and run down in parts. As we were walking a guy stopped us and told us it wasn't the safest area and said to take a Tuk Tuk motor scooter. We were being careful not to be scammed, but fell right into their trap...for the next hour we would visit gem and clothing factories who pay the drivers to take us there. Eventually we got to the subway, then proceeded to where we wanted to go.
We fell in love with Thailand and I would love to serve a mission here someday or even just to live for several months. We learned it was safe pretty much anywhere we want and were soon taking shortcuts through alley way and taking the boats across the river with the locals. After hours we would visit nearby temples and sights which were amazing!
CineAsia was small, but we had a good time seeing friends which we haven't seen in a long time. We walked the show for the 3 days it ran and enjoyed walking through the Iconsiam mall where it was located. On Thursday evening everyone boarded boats to Pier 55 for the big show event. They showed parts of a Coldplay concert then gave everyone 500 baht to spend on dinner at the malls foodcourt...it was awesome and I was able to make a lot of great contacts and connect lots of attendees.
Friday we spent the day visiting more parts of the city. We saw so many different Buddah's I'm couldn't imagine there being another one we hadn't seen yet, but we visited the largest one in the world which was many stories tall...that was really neat to see on our last day before our long route home once again through Japan and arriving home on Saturday. It was an incredible trip in every way...I look forward to visiting Thailand again!
