halloween in july

The boys were helping me clean out Hunter's closet when we happened upon Hyrum's old pumpkin costume from two years ago. Hyrum immediately wanted Hunter to try it on and then (of course the surest and fastest way for Hyrum to do anything is to have Hunter do it first) Hyrum tried on the suit and was excited to see that it still fit (sort of). Of course the fashion show didn't last long since it was 78 degrees in our house at the time but I did get a couple pictures before too much crying. I must say they make the most adorable pumpkins I have ever seen! The suit fit Hunter perfectly so I am sad to say he may have to be something else for Halloween in 3 months, but I have a couple of good alternative ideas.

On a Hunterbug note he has started getting up on all four's and rocking back and forth! I think this kid is going to crawl soon. This seems so young to me because Hyrum was like 9 1/2 months old before he crawled. I am excited though because I keep thinking the more mobile Hunter gets the more interaction the boys will have together (hopefully more positive than negative!) and the sooner they will be good little friends.

independence day weekend

We had the best weekend ever! It was just so much fun. Jeremy had the whole week off from school but worked at the emergency clinic M-W but we still had a nice four day weekend together.

Friday I was able to run in the 5k downtown with my friend Telia. I ended up running 9 minute miles which I know is not any sort of record but it is definitely the fastest I have ever run one of these. (It helped that the route was pretty much flat the whole way!) Now I want to try and run that pace at a 10k sometime soon. Then we stayed downtown to watch the parade. Our favorite part were the old fashioned bicycles and of course watching Hyrum eagerly grab all candy within reach. Then later in the afternoon we had a BBQ at the Curtis' home. We ate delicious food and had some fireworks (sparklers, poppers and the snake one). The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! It was sunny with a nice breeze and only in the mid-70's I think. And it wasn't even humid.

Then Saturday we went to Independence Lake with our friends the Hulet family. We were there for 5 hours and it was so much fun I can't wait to go back. Hyrum loves playing with his best bud Braxton. We had a picnic, played in the sand on the beach, went out on a rowboat and of course got sunburnt.

Thanks everyone who helped make our weekend the best!

yummy food

Last night we gave Hunter rice cereal for the first time just five days from his 6 month mark. Poor kid has been ready for it for a good month or more. And as you can see from the pictures, he quite enjoyed it....mostly. The first bowl was mixed with my milk so he gobbled that up but when I tried it with water he got really, really mad. But that was because he hadn't nursed for like 3 hours so I think he just really wanted the milk.

So, lately Hunter has been sleeping worse at night then he did when he was 2 months old. I'm not sure what is going on but he gets up at midnight and then again at 3:30 or so and then at 6:30 or 7 and sometimes after he gets up at midnight he won't go back to sleep for 2 hours which he has never ever done. I thought by 6 months he should be improving. Well I don't know if it was the rice cereal or that he fell asleep at 6:45pm or what but he slept from 6:45 until 7am straight last night! I had forgotten what a good 8 hours of sleep in one chunk felt like and thanks to Hunterbug I got that last night. Here's to hoping that's a permanent change!
