6 year old in the house!

Happy Birthday to Hyrum!!! I think 6 is the last year that I can convince myself that Hyrum is still a little boy but after this, I dunno, 7, 8, 9 all those ages seem like big boy ages. So I will enjoy my last year with Hyrum as a little boy :)

We started the day with waffles, presents from family & skyping with Darlin' & Pa.

Figuring out Bumblebee together. Jeremy just admitted to me 5 minutes ago that he thinks he likes these Transformers as much as Hyrum does. I am not like this at all but Hyrum just loves to figure out how things work & fit together so after watching Daddy put Bumblebee together a couple of times he was able to transform him all by himself & was quite proud :)

This afternoon/evening Hyrum had 6 of his friends over from school & church. It was loud but lots of fun to have them all here. They are a great group of kids. We drove them all over to Jump Mania for some bouncing fun (thanks to the Englands for watching the twins at our house during that time & for helping with dinner!)

Then home for hotdogs, chips, grapes, cake, ice cream & more playing.

Then he opened his friends' presents-everyone was so generous & he is so excited about all of his new gifts.

things we love about Hyrum

*I love having Hyrum around & it's been hard for me to have him start school this past year. I miss him & the weekends go by too fast. Lucky for me he says he likes school but he likes being home a lot more-yay!
*He is a big helper around the house
*He plays so well with Hunter & the babies. It is one of my favorite things to watch him interact with his brothers & sister (Even though lately he is really starting to fill the TEASER roll in the family-but that's what big brothers are good at eh?)
*He genuinely loves babies & little kids - not just ours but anyone that comes over, I wasn't expecting that so much with a boy but he does have a soft spot for them. I know he'll be great with our new baby in about a month & a good Daddy in about 20 years
*The kid has an amazing attention span if he is doing something he loves
*He is always drawing pictures/cards for me & other people in our family-he is so sweet
*It's been fun to see him develop interests in things like Transformers & Bakugans & even though they're not my favorite things it's fun to sit & listen to him talk about them & explain all the little gadgets to me-he gets so excited about them
*He is a good friend
*I love his sense of humor that he is developing & his super silly streak
*I love his curiosity & love of learning & how creative he can be
*I love how independent he has become, taking showers by himself, getting for school on his own etc. It's soooooooo nice to have one kid that can do all of those things!

We love you Hyrum & can't imagine our family or life without you!

Sorry you have to hear me sing-I've always known I couldn't sing but boy that was bad :)

Em

Emma looked so cute for church yesterday I had to show her off :) I love the twirly skirt I got at Target!

Here's a good one of Justin with his church pants up way past his belly button-he hated it! Hahaha, just like his Momma I guess, likes his pants around the hips instead.

Tired from jumping-who needs a jump house when we've got our furniture, eh??
I love it when they all play together

Turnin' 2

This past Wednesday, whether I can really believe it or not, these two maniacs turned 2! It seems impossible that they've been in our lives now for 2 years. They have changed so much! And as hard as it has been & continues to be to have twins I would never trade this experience.

We didn't do much to celebrate & just stayed home since Em had a high fever. 'Yummy chloklate' is one of their favorite phrases so we had chocolate cupcakes.

Then we opened their presents. Here is Em sporting her new sweater from Darlin' (the next morning). I am so impressed with my Mum! She is so on the ball--she had sent each of our kids a box of little presents a few days before their birthday & really made the day special for each of them. It's hard enough for me to turn around from Christmas & try to think of birthdays.
Five of their eight grand kids have birthdays in January!!

Emma is always wearing Potato Head's glasses which are 3 times too small for her so Jeremy picked out some glasses her own size-she calls them 'Emma's glass'. Justin's favorite presents were the plastic sharks we gave him...

and the train tracks Darlin' & Pa sent him. He was so excited about the trains that he was flapping his arms while I tried to pry it out of the box :)

Here are the aprons Darlin' made them for the day when I allow them in the kitchen (maybe in a year or so?)

Emma girl

*I love how she talks-she always adds extra letters or syllables to everything she says
*She is Miss Independent (of which I am extremely grateful) most of the time & keeps herself occupied by reading & singing to herself while looking at books & playing with all of the male dominant toys around the house. She only becomes clingy when other people are over or we're at someone else's house
*She fake laughs constantly but if you can get her real laugh to come out it is hilarious! It's so low & deep & infectious.
*She is her Daddy's girl through & through. Anytime he walks through the door she freaks out (in a good way) & won't leave him alone.
*She is our best eater ever & will pretty much eat anything
*Super ticklish armpits
*Already very dramatic, sensitive & sweet
*Jeremy laughs at how different her run is from the boys. She is as much up & down as forward with her hair bouncing & flying
*She is a screamer & squealer when upset & when excited

Justin

*Constantly saying 'Mommy, botch (watch) this' then he proceeds to do some sort of stunt & I'm supposed to be amazed, clap, smile & say good job
*Loves sharks, big trucks, cars, trains, dinosaurs, dragons & all things little boy
*Loves running, chasing, wrestling & always wants to show us he can go FAST
*Is the pickiest eater ever (but he is getting better). He does have the typical Turner/Shakespear sweet tooth though. Anything that tastes good is called 'chloklate' & his Daddy would agree with that
*If he had his way I would give him all of my attention all day long & we would read books for 90% of the time. I love how he brings me a book& says 'Sit by me' meaning he wants to sit by me while I read to him
*The biggest teaser, face maker & goof ball & is always making his older brothers laugh (really all of us)
*He is very verbal & is constantly babbling & wants me to repeat everything he says
*The best laugh & smile ever

A big 4 for the Bug!

Hunterbug turned 4 years old today-hooray! We celebrated yesterday. Friday night I had fun decorating his bedroom & the kitchen for when he woke up. He wanted donuts for breakfast & we obliged most willingly.

He opened his presents from Darlin, Pa, Aunt Jennie & us-thanks guys! Right after breakfast he wanted to watch his new movie 'Cars 2'. I don't think we've ever watched a movie as early as 8:30 in the morning before!

He wanted another race track cake & had the idea to put cones (chocolate chips) all around the track.

That afternoon/evening we had a couple of his friends over. He wanted banana pancakes for dinner (pancakes with strawberries, bananas & blueberries on top with a buttermilk syrup-delicious!) & to go to a jump house. It was a lot of fun.

Some of my favorite things about our Bug

*He is one of the most affectionate kids-he likes to snuggle & he will come up to give me kisses & hugs randomly
*He loooooooves cars & plays with them constantly & he could never have too many to play with :) When we drive around town he's always pointing out 'friend' cars that he likes. Usually ones that look like race cars, are a cool color or have some kind of writing/pictures on it.
*He loves to help me cook in the kitchen, especially baking. I have to be careful to remember to always invite him to help me out or he'll get sad. He's quite adept at stirring slowly & filling the cups etc. with the ingredients all by himself.
*He has a snort laugh
*Running, racing & being chased make him the happiest boy
*I love his positive attitude-seems like everything is his 'fravwrit' color or food or whatever, everything we do is fun & he loves everything. I could learn a lot from him about attitude.
*He is kind of polar in his moods, when he's upset he can still throw the loudest, longest fit around but when he's happy he is really happy, goofy, silly & fun to be around.
*He is a great brother-he loves to wrestle/tickle Justin, snuggle with Emma & play the days away with Hyrum
*I love our quiet time each day while the babies nap. We play games, do his workbook, color, read books etc.
*And he likes to go to bed early :)

We love you Bug!

Post Christmas

Today is the last day of our 11 day all home togetherness. Tomorrow is back to work & school for two of us at least. Anyone else have a hard time going back to reality? And does anyone else remember Christmas break being much longer from school than just 11 days? I remember like 2 or 3 weeks.

My least favorite parts:
1. spending the first half being sick
2. doing the 8 hour fasting glucose preggo test, but at least I'm really not gestationally diabetic

My favorite parts:
1. Being in the sunny 50's & playing outside. I love the sun!

This is our staged reenactment of the opening & end credits of Little House on the Prairie TV show of course. Anyone else watch that growing up?

2. Going on a one-on-one date with both of my older boys. Hunter & I (per his request) enjoyed Andy's custard, picking new books at the library & playing at the red slide park. Hyrum (per his request) & I went on a walk & ate lunch at Houlihan's. He has wanted to go to this restaurant since we moved here because they were in the middle of building it right by our house, he likes that it starts with an H & it always smells really good around lunch & dinner time.

3. Lots of fun playing at home

4. Naps

5. And introducing the newest SUNBEAM at church! And the oldest too :) He seemed to adjust great, said he liked it & was excited to see Hyrum in Primary. I'm still the nursery leader & we lost 9 of our kids to Primary. We only have 4 or 5 in nursery that come now instead of 14 (& two of them are mine)! It was very nice & quiet in there.

6. Jeremy made dinner the whole 11 days he's been off, has let me sleep in every morning for however long I needed to (so I could stay up past 9:30 at night) & has changed most of the poopy diapers. I feel spoiled. Can't we do this for another week??
