August in pictures

Whew!  That took forever to upload all of those pictures - I don't know if I have the energy to write about each picture!  The first set of pictures are from Jeremy & I's trip to Victoria British Columbia Canada to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!  It would have been fun to go somewhere really far & tropical for a long time but I'm still so not ready to leave my kids for too long so we decided to recreate our honeymoon.  It was a BLAST!  We have only spent two nights (not consecutive) away from our kids in 10 years of marriage so it was blissful to just be a couple for a few days.  We rode bikes all over Victoria, visited China Town, Fisherman's Wharf, toured the Craigdarroch Castle, went canoeing in Sooke, soaked in the beauty of Butchart Gardens & other adventures.  Thanks to my parents for watching the kids & taking them on all sorts of adventures!

The next few pictures are from a date here in Gearhart.  We borrowed a friend's canoe & walked down to the river & paddled down to the ocean & back- so fun!

While looking through phone pictures it is apparent we both like to take sleeping pictures of each other :)

OK next group of pictures are from Nana's one week visit!  We love having Nana come.  I was making dinner in the kitchen one afternoon & she was reading books & talking with the kids in the living room.  Justin was doing something funny & Nana was just giggling like crazy - I just love to hear them having fun together.  She was so sweet & took each kid on their own one on one date.  We went down to Tillamook to do Munson Falls, Cape Mears, Octopus Tree, Oceanside Beach, & of course the cheese factory.  We spent a day up in Long Beach at the kite festival.  It was super foggy but so fun.  We rode the trolley in Astoria, went to Fort Clatsop to learn more about Lewis & Clark & went to Young's River Falls.  We spent her last day at the zoo in Portland before her flight took off.  It was a week packed with fun.

The rest of our pictures are made up of other adventures we had as a family in August.

Gnat Creek Falls with some friends - this is a favorite spot.

Finally went to Short Sands Beach south of Cannon Beach.  This is an awesome spot!  It's rocky & sandy beach with the forest just a few feet away.

Hunter & Dallen reading books

One of the great things we've instituted around here is 'make your own lunch Sunday' where the kids (excepting Dallen) can only eat things for lunch that they can prepare 100% on their own.  Here is Hyrum's lunch one day.  It's so nice he & Hunter can do a normal lunch all on their own.  Em & Justy usually just have yogurt & nuts.  Someday every day will be 'make your own lunch' :)  Can't wait!

In Missouri we were at the doctor's office ALL.THE.TIME.  I felt like the front desk people & the nurse were my best friends.  Ha! Not really but we sure got to know each other well.  Ever since we moved here we've had sniffles here & there but have gone zero times to the doctor for anything.  I can't even begin to tell you how much I love that.  Here is the Bug on a sniffly day.

Our friends had a baby!  So their other kids (Dexter & Juliette) played at our house for a few days.  They are the easiest kids in the world & get along so well with ours it was honestly a bit sad to see them go.

Swim lesson fun!

Dallen's first time in the dentist chair

Found this schedule that Hunter wrote out for himself.  Man, life can't get any better than this, eh?

Regatta Land parade & Regatta bike parade

Look at those two monkeys in a tree!

We had lots of beach time with friends too

We had our first official family camp out all together at Spruce Run.  It went pretty well.  We had a practice run at home setting up Mum & Tunie's old tent that they graciously gave us :).  Despite the gaping holes & the zipper that wouldn't zip we all slept snug.  I was super tired the next day but I think that was because we didn't go to sleep until about 2am & then got up with the sun!  We went fishing on Saturday & headed home.  I think we'll definitely go again & maybe someday get a new tent!

My friend Samantha got baptized!  Here is Emma reunited with Bolt.  She left Bolt at my friend Bridget's house & she was sweet enough to mail him back to Em.

Hunter lost his first tooth!!! And Dallen is just the cutest thing.
