Bragging about the Bragg

Banana slug

Bean vs Giant Redwood

Hello awesome coral starfish, aka echinoderm.

The boys being boys collecting rocks, hermit crabs, shells.

The view from our hotel room...yeah, you can be a little jealous. It was gorgeous.

Hiking at Russian Gulch

As promised, here are a few of our photos from our first real family vacation. Our little family (plus Mimi Sue and Grannie Frannie) made the 14 hour drive to Fort Bragg, CA for four days of pure awesomeness. For those of you not acquainted with the wonderfulness that is Fort Bragg, it is a small town in Mendoccino County (Northern area of CA). It has amazing beaches, tide pools, and redwoods. We hope to make it a traditional family getaway.

As for updates, all is well here with us. Papa finished his last summer class, and has been anticipating his last semester of law school this fall!! (I can see the light!!!The end is near! Hooray!) Mama has been working and still debating on graduate schools. As for the Bean, well, he has been being his incredible big boy self, learning new things everyday and reminding us of how much we love being his parents.

Why I haven't been blogging...

I'm sure the devoted fans and followers of this blog (yes, that means, all one or two of you) may have possibly been wondering why I haven't updated in like 5 months. Well, its because I've been doing this....
A little bit of graduating with my bachelors of science, and a little bit of California beach nirvana with my boys. More updates and pictures to come

First family photo shoot!

I finally decided that since our son was 2, it was time to get our family photos done. We hired our neighbor (who just happens to be an artsy, professional photographer) to carry out my vision. I had always wanted our engagements/wedding photos done out on the salt flats, but due to the quick nature of our whole engagement/wedding, we settled for unprofessional photos in which our family members are lurking in the backgrounds of most the shots. Basically, our entire collection of photos up until this point= a total BUST.

So the Andersons headed out to Salt Air for a freezing good time. Guy and Michael behaved themselves quite well, although candy was used to keep Michael happy and Guy's little dog Mochi was in nearly every shot. Though it was slightly pricey, and we may not be eating for the next few weeks to pay for it, I am thoroughly pleased with the results :)Here are just a few.

A very grateful Thanksgiving.

I'll start off this post by noting the great collage of family photos from the past 2 years. I made this especially for Michael's brother Spencer, who will be back from his mission in about a week. I cant believe its been two years since he left, and I can't believe Guy will be TWO years on December 2nd. Time truly does fly.

We had a very nontraditional Thanksgiving this year. Michael and I have both been battling colds and our energy stores are depleted from the long semester. We spent our thanksgiving morning doing homework, Michael participated in the annual "Turkey Bowl", and we spent hours trying to get our overtired child to sleep. We had a late dinner with my family, played some games, and I even persuaded Michael to go to a late night showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So choice!
A few things I am thankful for this year
--Michael and his Job. He has been working with a great firm the past year, but has now moved on to bigger and better opportunities. The Attorney General's office sought him out for a position in the Litigation Department, he took it, and will start in January. I'm so proud of my brainiac lawyer-to-be husband. He is such a stud, and I love him with every part of being. *note awesome picture of him above.
--My child, Guy. He is AMAZING. He has brought so much joy into our lives, and has made me grow in all aspects of my life. He is our inspiration and our darling.
--Our home. Somedays I get frustrated as I see our friends purchasing new homes, I want that so badly for us. But as we prepared for freezing temperatures and a blizzard this past week, I was so grateful we have a nice, warm, and clean place to sleep at night.
--School. I curse it throughout the year, it brings me to tears, and makes my hair fall out from the intense stress at times. But man, am I grateful for the opportunity to get my degree and to help people in need.
--Our church. Being LDS rocks, seriously. We are blessed to have such guidance in this mess of a world. My sunbeam class drives me nuts at times, but, yeah I'm even grateful for them! :)
--Lastly, but not least. Our family's and friends. We love them, to pieces! They help and support us to no end.

I'm done being all cutsie and sentimental. We both have finals the next few weeks, and then its time for some Holiday fun! I have lots of fun pictures from the fall, I'll update again soon.

Peace

A very belated summer update

Our summer was great. (I know, I know, I'm posting about summer in October) We enjoyed hikes, petting zoo at Gardiner Village, swimming at Lagoon/Cherry Hill, participating in the Kaysville fourth of July parade, camping, a trip to Idaho(where Guy and myself had our first adventure in a cave), Guy's first haircut,(real haircut, my moms unwelcomed "trims" don't count!!) and trips to the zoo. Michael and I both attended summer semester full time, which eased our future stress while insanely upping our current stress. We are glad to have that part over and look forward to my April graduation/Michaels December 2011 graduation. Go team!

Back in May...We played in NYC

This is a great, gross, lovely statue near a cathedral we visited.

Greenest Garden ever!
Heartbreaking.

Italians do pizza right my friends.

This is Heidi, John, and Ben (minus Lily)

Kisses in central park

I adore the architecture of this bridge

Toys R US in Times Square. We were shocked at its awesomeness.

So because I failed at blogging this summer I am reporting this way late! Way back in May we were able to take a little trip(thanks to my sister-in-law Ann for her delta 2 for 1 coupon) to stay with Michaels sister Heidi Foss, and her lovely family in New York City. Michael and I had both been there separately, but this was our first time exploring it together. The Fosses live in this great upper east side neighborhood in Manhattan, and we were so grateful for their hospitality and superb tour guiding. We only stayed four days, but we packed each day with plenty of adventure/ exploring thanks to the Fosses suggestions and Michael's superb subway navigation skills. We were able to visit central park (aka see romantic sexy picture above), the museum of natural history(soo soo big, we need to go back to finish it), chinatown/little italy, Colombia University, Wall Street, Ground Zero, Times Square, and so forth and etc. We ate tons of great food , encountered many a strange folk, and had plenty of laughs. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to go (thanks Grandmas for watching our darling boy) and we hope to go back someday soon. It is one of my favorite places in the world.
