My christmas present from Easton...

Just wanted to show a cute little picture of Easton, this is the first one I have caught of him smiling....I was proud because I have made many attempts so far with no success (I didn't take the one located in the left corner, that was taken with a much faster camera than my own)! I found out something new today about our little bundle of joy, the little stinker completely rejects formula! Yes, literally about gave me a heart attack today when 4 different times threw up about 6 ounces of formula he ate while I was at work. All over two outfits, my outfit and our couches (good thing we invested in leather ones) This is only the third time he has even had formula but threw up both times, which I kind of linked to coincidence, but today certainly proved me wrong. I usually have a stock of breastmilk all ready for him but last week didn't work all that much so it got spoiled in my fridge. From now on I guess I will have to stock up....wasn't planning on breastfeeding for a year but it may be my only option now. I think it may be time to call the pediatrician......any advice dispensed in the way of comments would be appreciated also! This picture was taken on Saturday after the craziest christmas shopping trip to the mall ever! I have now resorted to online shopping! My friend Steph had a beautiful little girl the day after Thanksgiving, we think little Maggie is so adorable! Easton about smashed her in this picture of them together! Amazing that she is bigger than he was at that age!

Easty Beasty

So for a long time now everyone has been asking me how much Easton weighs since he is a fairly large newborn; however, he hasn't been weighed since his 2 week appointment so I only had guesses as to how much he might weigh. Well, we attended his 2 month checkup at the pediatrician today to find out he weighs a whopping 14 lbs. 7 1/2 oz. He is 100 percentile for length, weight, and head circumference...I swear I have never heard of a kid being 100 percentile for all three things before but my mom said we were all pretty close to that as babies! Although, I have no doubt he will be a pretty big boy one day. Hopefully he will make us lots of money as a professional athlete :-) (kidding) I love having such a chubby baby and I love playing with his cute little fat rolls, they are so adorable! We sure love our little Easty Beasty! (If you didn't know from the last post it is my family's new nickname for Easton, credit goes to my sister Hailey for coming up with that one...thanks alot Hailey)

Screw the U, Go Blue!

This Thanksgiving weekend Shannon, Easton (he didn't go to the game), and I went with my family to Salt Lake to attend the 'Holy War' in other words the BYU vs. Utah game...the best football game of the year especially when BYU wins! It did not quite beat the suspense of last years game but came close. BYU was losing 9-10 with 1:38 left in the fourth quarter. BYU had the ball on 4th and 18 when Max Hall threw a long ball to Austin Collie and he caught it! Then Harvey Unga ran it in for a touchdown with 38 seconds to go, Utah did not have time to recover and BYU won 17-10. If you can't tell from this post my family and I are crazy, fanatical BYU football fans. This even extends to extended family....my dad would probably not know what to do with himself if someone married into our family that is a Ute fan! Shannon always liked BYU but now he is a crazed fan like me! I hope no one is offended by my title, it's just a saying...my husband came up with it! Here are some pictures from the event.

Easton at 8 weeks old, we found out the other day he weighs 13 1/2 pounds! Adorable, isn't he? My family now calls him 'Easty Beasty'. Had I thought of that nickname he probably wouldn't have been named Easton, thanks guys....

Chubby baby!

It has been a while since I posted but figured I'd just do one big one. I had to go back to work last week and it was a really hard day for me. Although, by the time I get there and start chatting away with clients I kind of forgot about how sad I was, but I didn't realize quite how much I missed him till I got home and saw him again. Luckily, I'm only working 2 days a week so it is not so bad and he has great babysitters while I am gone. Easton will be 7 weeks old on Tuesday and is really filling out. He is quite the little noise maker, grunting and cooing all the time. He is starting to smile alot more at us, and we are having lots of fun with him. He is growing way too fast for me! I definitely never thought I would stay so busy on the days I stay home, but it being the holidays and all it has been kinda crazy!! Here are some pictures for your enjoyment! He's definitely getting to be a chubby baby! Big and strong like his daddy!
Easton with my friend Stephanie, she is having her own baby soon and if she doesn't go on her own they will enduce labor Thanksgiving night! We are so excited for baby Maggie to get here! We went on a christmas shopping trip on Friday to Idaho Falls together. I'm amazed that she could walk around the mall only 4 days away from her due date, but she says she will anything to try to put herself into labor. What a woman! It has been fun being pregnant with her!

Easton with my OBGYN Dr. Cox, he didn't get to deliver me so no delivery room picture, but I figure six week checkup picture will have to do!

Happy Birthday Mom!

This post is coming a little late but I wanted to give a birthday shoutout to my mom. Last Monday November 5th was her b-day! You are the best mom & grandma in the world. Thanks for all you do! (OK so I'm probably sucking up a little so that I can convince you to come watch Easton while I work!) But really seriously, you are the best! We love you lots and hope you had a great day!

Easton's blessing

On Sunday we blessed Easton and then had a dinner at Shannon's workplace after. This is one of my first times putting together a dinner for lots of people so I was a little nervous but it all went smoothly. It was a wonderful day! Thanks to all those who helped! Here are some pictures my sister-in-law Jen took of the occasion.

Easton sleeping in his carseat in his white tux, he messed through it soon after so it is one of the only pictures of him in it!

Everyone at the blessing, Shannon's fam on the left mine on the right

Some sad news

Some of you may have been following the story of our friends Jenn & Justin Pearson whose little boy Ian had heart problems. I am sad to say that little Ian passed away on Thursday due to complications from heart surgeries at 6 months of age. Probably some of you already know since this post is coming a little late. Please keep the Pearsons' in your prayers during this difficult time in their lives. Ian had such a sweet smile and spirit about him and I know his spirit will live on through his parents. Jenn was my visiting teaching partner for about a year and she was always the person motivating me to go. She always taught great lessons, and I was always amazed at what a great and patient mother she was to Emily and Ian. We love you guys and are constantly keeping you in our prayers at this time.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's SUPERMAN!

Easton was Superman this year for Halloween, we really debated on even getting a costume since he obviously cannot eat candy but found a killer deal on Ebay. Here is some pics of him in his costume.

Happy Birthday Whitney!!

Due to computer problems this post is coming a little late but on Tuesday it was my little sister Whitney's 13th birthday. She has been saying forever that she is a pre-teen so now she can finally call herself a teenager. Whitney is a great little sister and wonderful aunt! We love you Whit! The same day Easton turned 4 weeks old! Here are some pics from the event!

I have been tagged!

I was tagged about a week ago by my sister Angie but am now just getting around to it....

The Rules are:
A. Each player create a post listing 6 facts/habits about self.
B. At the end of the post the player then tags 6 people and post their names. Then go to each of their blogs and leave a comment letting them know they've been tagged and to read your blog for the rules.

So here are my 6 things....

1. A bad habit of mine is I am a big time interuppter. This drives my husband crazy and whenever we fight he always brings it up. I think growing up in a big crazy talkative family like mine it was the only way to get a word in sometimes. It is a habit many of my family members have also......(sorry guys)

2. I'm not a big fan of cinnamon rolls or apple pie. Most anything containing cinnamon. I like cinnamon flavored things just not actual cinnamon. Also I'm not a huge fan of mexican food. I tend to be kind of a picky eater sometimes. My husband and others think this is absurd and the same as not liking pizza or ice cream (I don't agree). And oddly enough during pregnancy I craved hot dogs and baby dill pickles (not together), I would eat up to 5 or 6 hot dogs a day!

3. I love crazy rides. I have a pretty strong stomach, and usually anything goes in this department. I've ridden the sky coaster at Lagoon and no rollercoaster is too crazy for me! Maybe now that I am a mom I will have to calm down a bit!

4. I love doing hair, it is great to have a job where you just get to chat with so many great people about anything and everything and get paid while doing it! Sometimes I have to stop myself from talking too much so I can concentrate on the job at hand, although I'd like to say I've mastered doing both at the same time! Although now that I have Easton it will be hard to go back to work and be away from him!

5. I really like hip-hop & R&B music (edited versions). I've even had a black guy comment once that he thought it was weird that a white girl from Idaho was into that kind of music.

6. I love being a mom! I am still adjusting to little sleep but really enjoy every minute of it! However, I'm not sure at this moment how people have more than one kid. I think all of you that do it are amazing women!

There it is...I now tag Gwen Anderson, Jaime Mickelsen, Emily Smith, Shamae Lyon, Mandy Kimball, and Michelle Sedgwick.

Tanner gets his mission call!

My brother Tanner got his mission call last week, he is attending school at BYU in Provo so we all drove down to watch him open his call. He got called to be in the .......Detroit, Michigan mission and will enter the MTC January 9, 2008. After the call everyone went to the BYU vs. Eastern Washington game except for me (still nursing) my mom, McKinley, Halle(my neices) and Easton. (We were happy to watch the game on the TV in warmer weather!) There was a big snow storm at the end of the game and BYU won the game! Go BYU! The day ended by going to T.G.I.Friday's for dinner! It was a great weekend and we are so excited for Tanner and know he will be a great missionary, we will miss him alot when he leaves!! Love ya Tanner!
The whole family at T.G.I.Friday's after the BYU game the same day!

Our day in Rexburg

This past Saturday we went up to Rexburg to visit Shannon's family. His dad had surgery on his back and had not seen Easton yet. We also got a chance to see Marc & Hailey and check out the model for their new townhouse they bought that will be ready next month. While there we went out to Craigo's and Shannon made me leave Easton for the first time, although it was only an hour it was really hard for me! I guess if I'm going to go back to work soon I'm going to have to get used to it! Overall, it was alot of fun to get out of the house and take a little trip while I have some Saturday's off! We just found out last week that Shannon's mom has thyroid cancer, please keep her in your prayers. The doctors said it is the best kind of cancer to have if you have cancer because it is the most treatable and has a 90% success rate. Still a hard thing to find out for us, never easy to hear that your mom has cancer. However, we are all staying optimistic! Marc & Hailey with Easton

Easton's first week out, technical difficulties

I thought I would share some pictures of Easton at a week old and us getting a chance to get out this week. On Monday we went to the pediatrician to get Easton circumcized, I was so proud they said he didn't cry at all, they invited me to be in the room but I couldn't do it so I waited in the waiting room, it was actually far worse to watch him get his blood drawn he didn't like that at all. Tuesday we went and visited the girls at the salon and Easton turned 1 week old. As a family on Wednesday we went out to Winger's and took a trip to Walmart. I then got a little fever probably from lack of sleep and Shannon told me I need to nap with him and catch up on my sleep instead of going out every day. I learned my lesson and tried to catch up on my sleep! Key word being tried! On another note, I realize the video in my last post is not working, it worked on the preview so I thought it would. I'm going to get Shannon to work on it since he is far more talented in that area than I am and then it should be ready for view.

Father & son bonding time

Shannon loves having a baby and is a really good dad. He misses him all day long after going to work and says he goes through 'Easton withdrawals' during the day. He loves coming home and playing with him. He is only one week old yet we think every little thing he does is funny. Here is a video of Shannon & Easton playing together. Easton thinks his dad's nose must be the food source....

Our baby boy is here!!

Yesterday at 3:45 a.m. I gave birth to Easton Shannon Lucas. He is 7 lbs. 10 oz., 21 1/2 inches, born with a full head of auburn hair, and looks exactly like his daddy! He was born one week early and we think he is adorable (I'm his mom though, so I may be a little biased)! I went in Sunday night and they told me I was in early labor but only dialated to a 1 so I got sent home. I went in again on Monday night at about 6:30 with closer more painful contractions and was dialated to a 2 and they almost sent me home again (I would have been really embarrased if I had two false alarms) but then they checked me again and said I could find my 'bag of waters' and said I had been leaking fluid, they made me walk the halls and it broke right there in the halls of labor and delivery. I quickly went from a 2 to a 4 pretty quickly, then at 2 am was dialated to a 10 and 100% effaced, I pushed for about 2 hours and the rest is history!! We have definitely getting adjusted to being parents to this sweet little boy, but felt for a while like maybe we had to give him back!! Glad we don't! Here are some pictures of little Easton! Easton with his two cousins Halle and McKinley. When my sister Angie told McKinley I was a mom now McKinley replied "your not a real mom, your Jill" I guess she can't think of me as both!

Please pray for Ian!!

For anyone who reads this, please include Ian Pearson in your fasting and prayers. He is only 5 months old and is on the heart transplant list waiting for a donor and is in need of one immediately. He is at Primary Children's. His parents Justin and Jenn are in our ward. You can look at their blog and update yourself on their situation http://www.emilyandian.blogspot.com/. Good luck to Justin and Jenn! Our prayers are with you! This is a picture of the family.

Almost there!!!

So I am writing this really not able to get to much sleep because I'm feeling very mild contractions every so often.....I went to my doctor's appointment on Tuesday and am dialated to a 1 and 50% effaced (I think that is how it is spelled!) I got a massage today also, and she worked on my pressure points in my feet that can put you into labor...Hopefully, it works soon!! If you can't tell I am being very impatient and am very ready!!! This was my last week of work for a while so the sooner he comes...the better!! We will keep everyone posted!!

My large pregnant belly!

This is me showing off my pregnant belly 3 weeks before my due date in one of Shannon's oversized shirts! I made Shannon take the picture but would not let him include my face. After my Sunday nap, let's just say I wasn't looking my best! I'm definitely excited to not be pregnant anymore and to be a mom! Since he could come anytime now, my next update will probably be when he gets here!

Starting up!

Well after alot of influencing by my sis Angie I have decided we need to start up our own blog. I felt like we shouldn't do one until we have kids to talk about but since Easton's arrival is a month away I guess we are close enough. We just ordered a camera/camcorder so I won't have any pics until atleast Monday! I am still working full-time as a hairdresser (soon to go down to part time) and Shannon works for Varsity Contractors. We are very excited for the arrival of our first child and are busy preparing for his entrance. We can't believe it is coming so soon! After four years of marriage without any children it will take some getting used to, but we welcome the challenge! We love looking at everyone else's blogs and are excited to have one of our own!
