Outing at the ZOO! (September 2010)

We had planned to go to the zoo before Spencer broke his leg, so we had to reschedule it, because he really wanted to go, so since he had a day off of school, we decided to make it a zoo day.  We went to see some of the animals but a lot of the zoo was under construction so there wasn't too much to see.  Spencer got REALLY tired of walking really quickly.  He just got his walking cast about a week before and wasn't used to using his leg so much.  But we still had a good time, just me and him.

Spencers favorite animal.. the bald eagle.

 His favorite water ball!
I love this pic of him... he needed to rest for a bit and it was the perfect seat for him!

Holy Huge Turtle Batman!

End of August...

Spencer's first day of MIDDLE SCHOOL! Yikes! and with a cast and crutches... He was really excited to go to 7th grade this year, however a little apprehensive about doing it in a new cast.  He had only had the cast for about 3 weeks and was still getting used to crutches, let alone a 40lb back pack!  He did marvelous the first day of school and only fell a couple of times the first week, after that he was a pro! (He even got out of Gym for the year!!) Lucky kid!

The Summer Tragedy!

Spencer was having one of the best summers until July 19th rolled around.  We went to Classic Skating as we did every Monday in the Summer with my friends, however this Monday changed our whole Summer.  After playing in the bounce houses, and going on the water slides all day, Spencer and his friends decided they wanted to try roller skating.  This was Spencer's first time roller skating EVER!
Well, needless to say, he fell and broke his leg about 10 minutes before we were going to leave... off to the ER we went.  Spencer was in hysterics, and going into shock, I was trying to carry him myself into the ER (since he couldn't walk) and this was not working very well, since Spencer is just about as tall as me now.  But the nurses got him taken back and gave him some morphine and treated him for shock
( I was hoping that it was a really bad bruised leg, however, when I told the nurses this they looked at me like I was crazy) After some xrays we were told it was definitely broken.   He then went straight home and sat on the couch for 10 days and was NOT allowed to get up for ANYTHING... (almost like having a newborn again for mom and dad!!)
 getting the morphine
 Broken leg before the splint

Happy Spencer after the splint was put on, and after they set it... and on Morphine!!

This is him at Shriner's Childrens Hospital getting his splint off and his 1st Cast put on!
He is VERY nervous to have his splint taken off

This is the bruise on his leg 10 days after the fall... it looked much worse in person

Getting the first half of the cast on
 THE FULL CAST
Yay! the cast is on and Spencer can now move around!!

Raging Waters

We went to Raging Waters today for a friends birthday.  It was so nice and warm outside, but the water was FREEZING... we eventually got used to it and had a terrific day!! Thanks Shannon and Zach for inviting us.

Clark Planetarium

We went to Clark Planetarium this week with some friends.  We saw Under the Sea in 3D.  It was a very cool movie.  We also checked out all the fun stuff they had there.  Walking on the Moon, Mars, fun quizzes and of course the store!!

Sillyness at home

We had some friends come and stay with us a couple weekends ago, and after they left, I was working on the computer, and kept hearing the funniest giggling noises, followed by something hitting the ground.  When I got up to investigate, this is what I saw. The kids decided to use the blow up mattresses as a slide instead of using the stairs.  They seemed to be having so much fun, that I just didn't worry about them popping the mattresses, and just let them have at it!

Jumpin Jacks

Another fun outing was going to Jumpin' Jacks with some friends.  They have a ton of bouncy things and the kids were entertained for hours.
