Halloween

We had a really fun Halloween this year. Colbie was at the perfect age to go Trick or Treating and she and Alexis had a blast. Colbie especially liked a giant mummy we saw in someones window. People liked to give us extra candy cause the girls were so cute in their costumes. We got a hoard which we are still trying to dwindle down. I might just throw it out! I helped out at Alexis's school Halloween party. They played pin the nose on the pumpkin and a candy balance relay race. Colbie got to come too and they gave her a bunch of treats. We made homemade chili and sugar cookies. We attended a trunk or treat at our church building and I dressed up like a pirate. We decorated our car with our carved pumpkins. Colbie and Alexis especially liked decorating our little tree out front with green spider webs. I love Halloween!

Fall

Colbie got into the mud.

having fun at the BD picnic

On of our ominous wall clouds coming through. It almost looks like a couple tornadoes forming. Notice the broken trampoline from the last storm?

found this cute purse pattern and made a couple purses for the girls.

Cade loving being outside.

Classic Colbie. One shoe on one shoe off, diaper, crown, makeshift stool, turning on and off lights, and escaping out the front door.

Alexis on her first day of first grade.

Our camp out in the backyard

Stake softball tournament. I got injured first time up to bat and had to sit out the rest of the tournament!

So glad for the cooler weather. I have been enjoying it thoroughly. I started teaching dance today. I am teaching a creative movement class for 2 and 3 year olds at the dance studio where Alexis takes dance. It went really well and the kids are darling. Colbie turned 2. I can hardly believe how fast the time went by. We took her shopping to ToysRUs and she picked out a shopping cart. She has been pushing her babies around and going "shopping" ever since. It was so cute to hear her singing "Hap Bir tay" all day to us. She was thrilled with her Barbie cake but even more thrilled about eating it. Today I caught her with a chair up to the counter lid off the bowl eating leftover cake .....crumbs everywhere! She is very messy and busy! Within a couple hours today for example, she squeezed syrup all over the counter, scattered cake crumbs all over the kitchen, escaped into the backyard, dumped out all her puzzles, and spilled a few drinks. You would think I wasn't right there the whole time this was happening which I was. Colbie is super loving and sweet and has a kind quite demeanor but she is also super messy and curious. She is very imaginative which feeds into the curiousness. Alexis is doing really well in school but also misses the more free atmosphere of kindergarten. There is a lot more busy work and she misses doing art. Shaun is now the Elders Quorum President which is slightly less busy than being in the Branch Presidency. It is amazingly nice to have him sit with us during sacrament meeting and be home a bit on Sunday mornings with less meetings. We have been trying some new dutch oven recipes in the backyard and even camped out one night. It has been really fun to have a backyard. We got our trampoline fixed that got busted during a severe thunderstorm. The girls have been jumping ever since. We also had our first tornado warning this last month. Luckily we had no damage and the tornado passed just outside of town. We continue to plug along. We miss family but are enjoying our time here. I just love the fall season here. It is so beautiful!

Family Pictures

We got some family pictures taken when we went out to visit in July. It was quite the undertaking getting two tired little girls ready and to hold still. They actually turned out better than I thought they would. It was nice to have a picture of all of Shaun's side of the family. We had a great trip out to Utah. We had already gotten on the road and realized we had forgotten our camera. Luckily we had some good pictures from family. While we were there we went to the children's museum, watched fireworks, went to a parade, played at a splash park, and saw both our families.
Right now we are getting ready for back to school. I can't believe the summer is gone already. In addition to becoming an independent sales rep. for Avon I have agreed to teach a creative movement dance class to 2 1/2 and 3 year olds at the studio where Alexis takes dance. I am a bit nervous but excited.

Colbie has grown like crazy and is talking up a storm lately. Her latest saying is "that for?" she asks constantly what things are used for. She loves barbies and dolls and playing pretend. She likes to catch pretend butterflies.

Alexis continues to love art. She showed me a detailed drawing tonight of her design to make a canopy to put above her bed out of a hoola-hoop and material. She had a friend over the other day and they played dress up, watched a Barbie fairy movie, made necklaces, listened to music, and put on makeup. She is grwoing up way to fast!

The girls out looking at the storm the day the tornado came through 1 hour to the south of us.

Fun trip to South Dakota with my sister's famiy and my parents.

me and my cute sister Stacie in Deadwood South Dakota

Alexis's cute dance class

we got to see some fun exotic animals at the library. Our favorite was the fennec fox and hedgehog.

What's summer without popsicles?

County Fair. It was fun but super hot. Heat index 115-120 degrees!

We had fun watching the pigs get sprayed with water. They were prickly so Colbie didn't like to touch them.

Colbie liked the goats the best

2 day old baby goats

feeding the cows

We thought this cow was tied up till it started following us around!

Alexis's favorite were the baby chicks and ducks. So cute!

Colbie was scared to hold them but loved seeing them.

Good old Corn on  the Cob.

My favorite toys of the summer. Love them!

we came back from vacation to a jungle in our backyard! These are Alexis's mammoth sunflowers we planted. The field behind us is corn this year. It makes a great privacy fence! The fireflies are also beautiful at night. Our cat Cade thinks it is his personal hunting jungle! Luckily it is so hot he comes back home pretty quick if he gets out by accident cause finding him in there is impossible!

Alexis always loves finding the  frogs.

ready to go fishing with the library at the park. We didn't catch anything but a boy caught a large crawdad. It was pretty cool to see.
our other summer fun item.

Cade was sleeping like this one day it was pretty funny
