Busy, Busy Weekend

We had a GREAT and busy weekend. Marshall was home most of the day Friday so we got started on our weekend a little early. We had Jackson's dentist appointment, went kayaking, rode the Trinity Park Train, played at Trinity park, went to the Shepard's house and had lots more fun. Jack is talking so much these days. I am amazed each day at the things he is picking up on. Our dentist let us know that Jack has 4 teeth coming in right now and his molars aren't far behind. Jack hasn't been sleeping well, but other than that in a suprisingly good mood considering he is probably really uncomfortable. I am officially 8 months pregnant and really uncomfortable. :)

I love this picture. He looks so grown up to me.
I would like to tell you that he is praying here before lunch, but most likely he was pouting about something. He does a good job during our "meal prayers" though. He loves to shout "AMEN" at the end.

Sweet face.

I took Jack's paints out to the Shepard's so he could paint some pictures to send to his Aunt Kelly in Fiji. The first thing he did was taste the paint to make sure it was good.

This is after the painting was all done. He enjoyed painting his belly. Yes, he is wearing a dog collar as a belt. He is THAT cool.

Daddy and Jack kayaking in the Trinity.

Playing in the waiting room at the dentist office. Cool as a cucumber.
This is the only picture I got of the actual exam. The screaming started shortly after this. He didn't bite anyone though so I consider that a win. He just got his teeth brushed and counted. Like I mentioned before he has 4 teeth coming in and his molars aren't far behind. The dentist also let us know that Jack doesn't have a lot of space between his teeth which probably means braces in his future.

Another little tidbit I would like to document is that Jackson is calling me "Leah" almost just as often as he calls me Mommy. I guess I can't blame him because he is the only one that calls me Mommy obviously. He hears "Leah" more than Mommy. I asked Marshall to start calling me Mommy when we are in front of Jackson. We'll see if that helps. Little Stinker!

Circus

On Saturday we took Neriah and Jackson to the circus. It was a great show. Much better than the elephant parade we went to see on Thursday! We had great seats. I think the adults enjoyed the show more than the kids!!

PaPaw, Neriah and Granny

Jackson, Pappy and Marshall

1.5 years old!

Jackson Kelly turned 1.5 years or 18 months old on July 30th. He has changed so much in the past month. Everyday he does something or says something new that amazes us or just makes us laugh. He will repeat any word or phrase you say and is using sentences more and more.
Here are some of his vocab words:
Na-Nauh (banana)
Pees (please)
Pane (plane)
Orsie (horsie)
Ookie (coookie)
Iger (tiger)
Broter (brother)
Buffer-fy (butterfly)
Buffafo (buffalo)
Chew-dryer (screwdriver)
Mato (tomato)
MINE (mine)
Tractore (tractor)

He LOVES trains, water, balls and animals. He is a GREAT sleeper. When we are home he will take a 3 hr. afternoon nap, goes to bed around 8p and wakes up around 7a. We are preparing for Grant to be the opposite if this. Jackson's favorite foods are bananas, tomatos, cookies, french fries, beans (green beans), cheese, oranges and waffles. He will pretty much try anything though. The kid loves to eat. Jackson also loves books. We read throughout the day and at night we read before he goes to bed. Jackson and Marshall still spend bathtime together every night. He HATES water getting in his eyes but loves bathtime. Jack just started dancing and jumping all the time. By jumping I mean he bends down and then raises his arms really high. His sweet little feet never leave the ground. His dancing involves kind of a gallop in a circle. He loves to watch me cook and always says "I see Mommy, I see" meaning he wants to see what I am cooking. He is very persistent and will repeat things over and over and over until he gets what he wants. He is still very attached to blankie. He can name his eyes, nose, ears, hair, arm, belly, leg, hands, toes and fingers.

It is truly a blessing and so fun to watch this little man grow up. I know this was a lot of info, but it is fun for me to look back over the blog and see when he reached certain milestones.

Leah

Chalkboard Doors

Since the boys will be sharing a room that has 2 closets I was looking for a good way to put their names on the closet doors. My friend Tracey showed me the chalkboard doors idea in a magazine she had. Marshall was skeptical but went along with me. We bought the chalkboard paint and went for it! Neither one of us could paint in a straight line so we ended up adding trim around the edges.

AFTER

I think they turned out cute. Jack and Grant can color on the bottom squares and I can write their name up top.
