Things I have learned from my boys.....

I'm reading a book titled, "How do you tuck in a super hero?" It is a great book about a mom of 5 boys and different stories she has from their day to day life. I decided I should write down some things I am learning from my boys.

1. If there is dirt on the ground you are required to touch it

2. It is ok to go tee tee on any tree at anytime

3. Anytime you go tee tee on a tree you should try to leave your mark as high as possible on the tree

4. Spitting comes to boys as naturally as breathing

5. The bed of a truck is a play pen for a toddler

6. Anywhere my boys sit becomes instantly sticky

7. It is ok to NOT eat dinner and then request a full meal because you are STARVING right as you climb into bed

8. The best kleenex is whatever Mommy is wearing

9. Anything on the ground is fair game for a taste test

10. If you are the little brother the best way to get back at your big brother is this: slap big brother in the face while he is on the potty and therefore can't immediately come after you. (I witnessed this just this morning)

I've also decided that car washes should offer the "Mom's car special." This would be the same price as the "wheel deal." They would focus special vacuum and wipe down attention around the car seat area thereby removing all stickiness and crumbs/leftovers.

That's all I've got for now. I hope to keep jotting things down as I see them. But for now I have to go tell someone to stop using my couch as a trampoline.

Easter 2011

We had a wonderful Easter with our friends and family.

The boys kicked off the festivities with an Easter egg hunt at their school. I always struggle with what to put in the eggs. I hate to put candy because they always get so much of that. I chose stickers this year but the boys weren't very excited about it. Maybe next year I will put play-doh or hot wheels in there. Its hard to find a toy that will fit in an egg but not in a child's mouth!

This is the boys before the hunt. They look so big!

The evening after the school party the boys had a ton of candy. When Marshall got home they boys had their evening wrestling match. Grant gave me a look like "oh no" and I knew what was about to happen.....I reached for the closest thing I could which happened to be his Easter basket. Poor baby Grant "lost" all the candy he had eaten right back into his basket. Mommy will do a better job of limiting candy intake next time.

Marshall and I serve at church each week in the children's area. We check the kids into the nursery.
Aunt Kelly had her camera at church and took a few pictures of the boys.

Church makes Grant sleepy

On Sunday afternoon our families came over to our house for dinner and another Easter egg hunt. Jackson loves his cousin Malosi. He could not wait to hold her.

He even got to give her a bottle...with some help from Granelly.

PaPaw and Jack in their matching ties.

Sweet Baby Grant. I can call him that until he is 18, right?

Most kissable cheeks ever.

Classic Jackson mood swing face.

Crazy Cousins.

Both wanting to hold Malosi.

Fun with Photos

Aunt Kelly showed me a cool new app for my iPhone that lets you adjust your photos with some cool effects.

Jackson and Neriah were pretending this was their pontoon boat like PaPaws. Jackson is upset in this picture because the boat had just capsized and I forced him to get back on for a picture.

Eating lunch
He found his Daddy's sweat band and thought it was so cool.

He is so cute.

Fishing at Pappy's farm part 2

Here are a few more pictures from our Sunday fishing trip at Pappy's farm. Jackson and Grant loved every minute. I thought they would be scared of the minnows but they loved holding them and laughed every time they jumped out of their hands.

Jack's big catch
Poor little second child....we gave him the broken Spider man fishing pole to play with. It was just his size.
Nothing better than Golden-Chick corn in the back of Pappy's truck
Grant is really growing up fast and I am SO sad. Like really, really sad. I have started rocking him to sleep every night just to hold on to what few 'baby" things are left to do with him. He is so sweet. He will cuddle and give you kisses any time you ask. However......if he gets mad, look out. He will either yell at you or worse. He is a biter. We were playing indoor tackle football the other night as a family. Jackson crawled under the table to retrieve the ball. While there, Grant decided to bite him....on the bottom.....until he bled. It was not good. Grant is tough as nails though. He rarely cries no matter how rough he and Jackson play. He is a great sleeper, great eater and my sweet sweet BABY.
Jackson is growing up so fast. He tells me every morning to look how much taller he is since yesterday. He is definitely on the sensitive side and still loves his Mommy (aka Mama's boy). He would rather play with the neighbor boys than me most afternoons though. I am learning to not take it personally.
This is our indoor race track. Most days you will find the boys racing down our hallway.

Last but not least here is our garden. We have herbs, tomatoes, banana peppers, black eyed peas, beans, zucchini and probably a few other things. Professor Hootington is in the center. He keeps the squirrels away. Seriously...he does.

Jackson's first BIG FISH!

So...we went to Pappy's farm today for a family fishing outing. We brought Pappy and Granelly and our good friends and thier two boys. We haven't fished dad's lake in a couple of years so I didn't really know what to expect. Jackson has been practicing his casting accuracy and has been asking to go for a month or so. I grabbed some dinner and a couple dozen minnows and off we went. Note, I have never until this day bass fished with minnows. If training a young angler - definately worth the six bucks! We caught 10+ fish in no time with at least 5 breaking the the line of our spider man combo. I'm going to put 50lb line on his pole for next week...we'll just have to make sure to secure his fighting belt to the bank!
