OMG. the 2 econ minimarts in bayshore park and coasta del sol do NOT know what is a NAIL BUFFER. i soooo felt like fainting. i was having a nail crisis today.. and i found out that i just HAD to buff my nails or they would look so.. EWW. and its like..zomg. went down to the minimart..then i asked the person if they stock nail buffer..and they were like.. 'what is that?!' and i was like.. silently "ZOMG-ing". TOTALLY. walked allll the way to bayshore park, past the THREE sercurity guards and the SMELLY pond.. alll the way to the minimart there. i asked the WOMAN if she had nail buffers for sale. and she gave me the same reply. "what is that?!" i soooo felt like laying splat on the floor. seriously. how can they NOT know what is a nail buffer?
cursing myself for my utmost stupidity, i went home, and found out that there was a MANICURE shop at my house. zomg. i shld've known!! arhhhxx!!! so i FINALLY got my nail buffer. what a HUGE detour...

i am totally appalled by the service standards of singapore today. any expat who wants to sink into the "singapore culture" is going to have the worst culture shock of his life. service standards are so horrible nowadays, it isn't any wonder why people would want to migrate to somwhere else. someone please bless our service standards.

please don't be taken in by the intricately designed facade of the Singapore Tourism Board. i think all tourists feel deceived when you tell them that they are given "the highest possible class of service there is in asia". i certaintly think that they would shun singapore for life once they have stepped into the Bedok North branch of the 'widely-known' Long John Silvers Fast Food restuarant.

i've been there quite a few times in my 4 years in bedok green secondary. what shocks me however, is the ever- diminishing service standards provided to students. just because we are not considered independent adults, albeit young adults, does not mean that the crew can show a blatant disregard for us, showing us the most horrifying service standards possible.

lets start with a wet rainy day in singapore, shall we?
firstly, i would like to say that i become a frightfully grumpy person once i chance upon a rainy day. i am not one who enjoys getting wet, and certaintly not one who enjoys the gloomy weather that befalls singapore every few days. im just glad im not living near any catchment areas.
secondly, when one is hungry and has trudged around bedok interchange, they do not want to encounter the most horrible of weathers as well. unfortunately, i had the chance to encounter a horrifically rainy day together with being totally famished.
thirdly, when i stepped into Long John Silvers, i was greeted with the most disgruntled face i have ever had to misfortune to encounter. the crew member, and solo 'counter-person'. Michael.

his name is forever etched in my mind, as being the only person who has made me very, very, very, disatisfied with the service standards of singapore. he is the worst of the lot. and greeting me with a very disgruntled face is only the tip of the ice berg.

when ordering food, he did not speak in a very friendly tone. i don't think i am requesting too much from a fast food restaurant. i do not expect a sunny smile in such a gloomy weather, but i do at least expect minimal respect as a consumer of the restuarant. seriously, giving me the "ah beng" tone is not working. secondly, while attending to my friend-of-4-yrs, furquek, who wanted to have a seperate serving of tar-tar sauce, he admandently refused, claiming that the outlet had ran out of plastic containeres in which the sauce could be served. while attending to me, not only did he refuse to anknowledge my inquiries, but took my order in the most snappish tone possible. his tone can rival the foulest of professor snape's snappish behaviour in all 7 harry potter books added up. it was remarkable how he could still be working there. where on earth is the freaking manager?!?!
and the worst thing, was that the manager REFUSED to change my plate. i claimed that it was difficult to eat with the paper tray that i was given. what on earth is wrong with requesting for a styrofoam plate? the worst thing was that she too, gave me an answer in a snappy tone. "what the supervisor does, the crew follows" must be a new policy in long john. 2 people with the same service standards. what a great way to eat lunch.
while i tucked into my lunch, i realised that in my anger of not being served properly, i have neglected my craving for tar tar sauce, and i thus proceeded to the counter to get myself a serving.
when i asked for some tar tar sauce, a friendly attendent came forward, a lo! behold! there sitting neatly near the black pepper was a tower of small containers that Michael claimed to have been OUT OF STOCK. not only was i put off, i felt DECEIVED. i am not one who is calculative, nor am i one who is unreasonable. but i do think that every customer is entitled to good service, no matter where they come from. what if i was the daughter of an aclaimed food critic? what is i was the heir to a multi million dollar food company who wanted to buy over Long John Silver's? what if i was the daughter of the president of some top aristocratic group? prehaps i would be treated with more respect if i were an expat? or prehaps a hollywood superstar?

just because i am a student does not mean that i must be subjected to mediocre service. no, scratch that. the service cannot even be deemed as mediocre as it wans'nt even of a suitable standard. i do not think that i am a food critic, but i do love good service. i do think, that with good service, comes good food. of course, one cannot expect the uneducated workers of LJS to be equipped with the marvelous skills of the waitors and waitresses of Raffles Hotel, the Stampford's Bar and Billard Restaurant, but let the crew at least be on par with MacDonald's, who has by far, provided the best Fast Food service besides Carl's Junior.

and the worst thing was when i wanted to lodge a formal complaint to the company, i find their website sorely lacking in Customer service details. they don't even have a head office.

Long John Silver's Bedok North Branch has thus showed me the really ugly side of singapore's customer service. talk about being the island of smiles. sheesh. you can't find THAT smile at LJs... even if there are two sides of a coin, you would never expect the other side to be that unpleasant.

omg.. haha. my prom dress is OFFICIALLY in my wardrobe!!! zomg. its uber lovable.. =) even my aunty likes it! and shes normally quite picky with cocktail dresses. yayness!!! =) muahahaha.
now i can happily concentrate on my upcoming exams. chiong-ah!!!! =)

today, i FINALLY saw my prom dress. it was totally THE ONE. =)
and it was surprisingly frm... *drum roll* JESSICA.
i know you guys wld be like.. 'jessica wad'
FYI, its a high end brand in HK. easily 150 for a simple top. and at least 300 for an evening gown.
but, im pleased to note that i bought my dress between the 200-250 price range. yayness for me!
yeahh..i think its exx. but gosh. the cutting.. it can be worn quite casually and really formally at the same time. its like..black. i know. of all colours, y black?!?! but.. haha.. its nice. =) it has crochted lace and cutout lace!!!!
ZOMG. haha.. =) i don't know why..but i feel 'drawn' to it.. its like..calling out to me.. omg.. haha..i make it sound as if the dress is possessed. for the record, its not. =) i just love it for some bizzare reason. yeppx. i just love the cutting actly.. haha..
so how long did i shop? NINE bloody hours..in HIGH HEELS. dammmnn shite.
