First Day of Kindergarten

Can't see, Mom! The sun's too bright!
Is this better, Mom! I'm not covering my eyes!
Can we PLEASE just go to school?

Off we go! Check out the cool backpack!
Halfway there. Thank goodness we live close enough to walk. (But far enough that I don't feel guilty when I do drive!)

 AFTER SCHOOL:

He got a little too up close and personal with the concrete. It doesn't work too well to be running and bouncing the ball in one direction when someone hits you from behind going another direction.

A Boy and his Costumes

Not really a costume, but kind of for our little guy. First time to wear a white button-up shirt and a tie to church. Thank you Great Grandma Donna and Great Grandpa Ken!

His cobbled together Robin costume riding the very special Robincycle.

The Mom decided to help out a bit.
Still not perfect, but a bit more like the real thing!

Crashing the Appelhof's Family Vacation

The trip was a total surprise for Geddy. Thankfully he fell asleep in the car (with his Shoshi and Nami). Can you tell he had a blue Slurpee?:)
A few months ago we found out that our good friends the Appelhofs were going to be vacationing in West Yellowstone, Montana. After realizing how close that is to where we live, we decided to join them. (Kind of). At such short notice hotel rooms were impossible to book (or impossible to pay for!!!!). So we borrowed some camping gear from Carrie and Ben and decided to stay in the tent area of the RV campground our friends were in. We were clueless as to how these parks were laid out as we had never been to one before. Lesson learned, do not tent-camp in an RV campground! The tent spots were nice and convenient to the clubhouse with game room, bathrooms, showers, and the free hot chocolate every morning. However, they were also convenient to the big, noisy, bear-proofed dumpster and the entrance/exit to the park. Many, many people like to either arrive late at night or leave super-duper early in the morning. Thank goodness we were only there for two nights. Scott and I managed to get some sleep whereas Geddy slept like a log and proclaimed his first ever camping trip as "awesome!". It was great to spend a wee-bit of time with our friends. And we are very grateful to them for taking a vacation which gave us a little more incentive to take our own vacation. We spent Saturday morning at The Bear and Wolf Discovery Center, which was very cool. Alas, my camera's batteries died as I was taking the very first picture, so I don't have even one photo to show from there. Then in the afternoon we drove into Yellowstone Park. It was lovely. We stopped at most of the scenic spots on the way down to Old Faithful. Amazing stuff to be seen in such a short amount of time. I took lots of pictures but can't remember the names of the different things, sorry. And we were a bit disappointed with Old Faithful. Not near as spectacular as I had envisioned. And we were also disappointed with our wildlife spotting, we saw elk, a river otter, and a bald eagle. Thank goodness we had gone to the Discovery Center. I would have hated saying I had been to Yellowstone and didn't even see one bear or wolf!

Family self-portrait

Thanks to a nice person that offered to take our picture. Didn't worry too much about getting us all to look, there was a warm, moist breeze blowing. And it didn't smell the best either. Just wanted the picture done.

Geddy and Kirah at dinner - the way they were acting, you would have thought it was their first date!
Sorry if all those pictures bored you (just think of all the ones I took but didn't post:). They were the things we found most fascinating on our little trip. Some of them may not have translated to photo to blog too well, but what can you do?
