Foreign Men. Ooh la la!

The other day at work an older foreign man who spoke rough to little English needed help understanding what to do with his prescriptions. After about 10 minutes of explaining he finally understood and repeated back to me what to do with each. He was grateful to make sense of America and it's health insurance and in his thick accent said, "Thank you, thank you very much. You know you are a very charming. A very, very charming." I started laughing, realizing earlier that same week another older foreign man, with an accent, had told me the exact same thing and complimented me that my face was disarming. I had a good laugh and smiled the rest of day. Now on to younger men...maybe with an accent.

Dave and Brittany are getting married!

Dave and Brittany got engaged on Friday, Feb. 13th. This is the first member of my family to get engaged/get married. We are excited to soon have a new sister. She has been going to school in Flagstaff and Dave has been in Tucson, and they have been successfully long-distance dating since about last May. We are thrilled to have her be part of our family. They've set the date to be June 11th. Congratulations to Dave and Brittany!

Classic

I work at a doctor's office where nearly every patient is on some sort of narcotic. These narcotics cause addictions and often patients come up with bizarre stories as to why they should get more medication. This was a message at work from one of our patients.

"People have been stealing her medication so she started hiding them. She hid them in the couch and for her birthday her husband took the couch to Goodwill and bought another one. All her meds are gone now. She went to Goodwill to get her meds back, but they had already sold the couch."

This is funny on several levels. One, it's ridiculous. Two, this is the same lady whose father has suspiciously died or nearly died several times, and who is unable to make her appointments due to his death (or near deaths). Also, she sometimes is unable to make her appointments because her dad can't give her a ride (he lives in Utah in at least a few of her stories?). Three, there was quite a bit of creativity involved, or, this is truly a sad/humorous story. When they finished laughing, the doctors decided to frame the note.

Jacob's Mission Call!

Jacob will be going to the New York, New York South Spanish speaking mission. We are all so excited! He will be reporting to the Provo MTC on March 11th. It was an especially exciting day because two years ago today he was relearning to walk on his own. The call opening was emotional for him. Jake is thrilled to be speaking the Spanish language. (And mom is thrilled he will be in the states!) He had a great desire to learn and brothers Dave and Tim speak Spanish too! It means a lot to our family he is here today, and I am very grateful to all the people who have helped him these last two years, physically and emotionally. The friendship of the people around him mean very much to him.
