My Mamaw

Me and mamaw at her 90th birthday party in March 2005.
She passed away the following December.

Mamaw's Daylillies

These are a few pictures of my first daylillies of the season.

Last spring, my dad and I went to my Mamaw's old house and dug up some of her daylillies to put in my yard. They bloomed some last year, but nothing like this year. My mamaw was an amazing gardener. I would always say that she could put a stick in the ground and it would grow the most beautiful flowers. Unfortunately, I did not get the gardening gene in the family. I am so thankful that we transplanted these flowers last year because everytime I look at them I think about her. I was blessed to lived next door to her for the majority of my life. She and my mom were two of the greatest women I knew. They have both gone on to be with the Lord and I can tell Heaven has never been the same since. I miss both of them terribly.

The End of a School

Well, today was the last day for students at Union Academy. It was a very sad day for us today. Due to the lack of enrollment with school choice, the district has decided to close a wonderful school. I understand their reasoning, but it still is a sad day for us. I have had the privilege of being at Union for 6 of my 9 years in the district and have met some of the greatest teachers I know. I travel with my job, so I am not a school much during the day. I have always wanted to be a part of a school family, but with my job it is sometimes hard (b/c I am never there). The Union family always made me feel that I was a part of their school and their family. I am truly blessed to be a part of such an awesome staff. You all mean the world to me and I will miss you all next year.

Best Friends

Today, I got to spend the day with Michelle, and we had a great time. It has been a while since the two of us have been able to hang out (Lots of drama over the last 10 months). May 4th was her birthday, and we have been trying for a couple of weeks to get together for lunch. So I took off early today and we went to Tupelo. We ate lunch at Red Lobster and then went shopping. We got to go baby shopping!!! I am so happy for Michelle. She is going to be the best mom ever. Her faith over the last year has truly been amazing! To have gone through what she has and still be as positive as she is is just a testimony of the strength that God has given her. She and Bella have changed my life and I will be forever thankful. I know that God puts people in our lives when we need them the most, and I am just so blessed to have her in my life. Love you, Chelle!!

This is me and John James at Easter.

Well, I have been a Blog stalker for long enough, I guess. I thought that I would give this a try. I am really not sure what to write, and I really not sure if anyone will even read this. I guess I will tell you a little about myself first. I am a Speech Pathologist (or speech therapist, speech teacher, speech lady - I have been called it all.) for Columbus City Schools. For the most part, I love my job. As with any job, some days are better than others. I have the privilege of working with preschool students, mostly at Headstart, and doing the preschool testing. Most people would not like working at Headstart, but I absolutely love it. I get to help children who, for the most part, come from underprivilege households. It never ceases to amaze me what some of these children have gone through already in their short lives. Another great aspect of my job is that I am off in the summer!!!! 7 more days to go!!!!!!!!!!

This is summer is going to go by so fast. They always do. It always seems like we go back earlier and earlier each year. My summer is already packed full of stuff. I will be teaching Bible school the first week of June and keeping John James while his parent are out of town. I am sure that this blog will be full of stories from John James. He is my little Boo-Boo. I have kept him since he was 8 months old and he is now 5. I will have to fill you in later about how his family and I became so close. They are truly my second family. I will also be going to Peru on a mission trip in July. I am definitely going to need all the prayers I can get for that. I am very nervous about going, but I know that God is leading me there this summer. It will be a wonderful adventure for sure.
