New Boy
Here is our new baby boy!!
After eating some labor inducting ice cream from cold stones. Lisa came home and said “I’m going to have the baby”. I ran to the neighbor to watch the kids and off we went. Lisa put plastic down in the back seat of the car just in case. Half way there she said "I'm going to have this in the car" to which I kindly responded "No you are not". We arrived at the hospital put Lisa in a wheel chair and the rest was smooth sailing. The baby was born 10-20 minuets later. Wow what a rush. Still no name yet !

Balls of Fur
Our home has been quite a bit different in the last week. Last Sunday we brought home 2 baby kittens that were 6 weeks old, to add to our family. Their names are Ash & Abby, 'A' names of course. :-)
Amy grew up with cats and has always wanted a cat, and Alexis has wanted a pet, because here sisters both have birds. I have a friend at work who had a bunch of new baby kittens and I told him that we would like one of them. For Alexis' birthday, I surprised both Alexis and Amy by wrapping up a picture of a kitten for one of her presents and told her that we would be getting one for her birthday. After the shock and excitement, we drove over to my friends house to look at the kittens and have Alexis pick out the kitten that she wanted to have as her pet.
The kittens were not old enough to leave 'momma cat' for a few more weeks, so we just picked out the cat we would like to have. Alexis picked out a black and white kitten that would be her pet. Everything was fine and dandy until Amy fell in love with a little gray kitten. I was barely ok with one cat, but TWO? I told her that we would just be getting one for Alexis, so she should try and convince Alexis to get the gray one. It had only been about 1 day before I told Amy that we could get both kittens. So there you go, last week we brought home two kittens and added two new 'A' names to our family. After seeing them play together all week, we are glad that the two sister kittens have someone to play with. They are very cute and everyone in the family is 'smitten with the kittens'. I have even held them a few times. :-)

Daylight Savings
Today I was an hour late to early Sunday meetings, due to Daylight Savings. I had totally forgot that we needed to change our clocks last night.
It reminded me of Daylight Savings 12 years ago. We were on the way to the airport listening to the radio to leave for our honeymoon, and the announcer reminded everyone about the time change. We both looked at each other in horror and realized that with the time change, our flight would be leaving in just a few minutes! We rushed to the airport, parked the car in long term parking and ran all the way to the terminal, because we didn't want to wait for a shuttle. We arrived to the gate panting and out of breath. The employee told us that they were making the last call for passengers and that we could probably make the flight, but our luggage would not. We had missed our honeymoon flight because of daylight savings!
Fortunately, our flight was to Southern California and another plane was leaving in a few hours. We changed flights and played around in the airport waiting for the plane to take us on our honeymoon.
Back to the present day...tonight we played a game with the kids to see how many clocks there were in our house that needed to be updated to the new time. All of the kids took a guess at how many clocks we had in our house to change. Ari guessed 7, Keya guessed 12 and Lexy guessed 11. After running through each room of our home, looking for clocks, watches, cell phones, computers, TVs, VCRs, cars, microwaves and everything else with a clock. Our final count for the night was 34 total clocks in our home that had to be changed! Wow, all that for just a few more minutes of sunlight?

Train Show
As the first 'official' entry in our new family blog, I thought I would write a bit about the train show Alek and I went to today.
The girls and Amy were all gone to play practice, for the local play they are in this spring. Amy is doing the costumes and each of the girls have a part in the play. Alek and I decided to head up to Ogden for the large train show they have every year that was going on this weekend.

The first thing Alek wanted to do was ride on the small train they had in the parking lot. After doing this, he was ready for something bigger, so we went to play on the 'real' trains. He enjoyed climbing on the trains and pretending to drive them.
Throughout the rest of the day we saw hundreds of model trains from small to big. The sets they created for the trains were very elaborate and must have taken months/years to work on. The train sets that Alek (and daddy) liked the best were the Lego Train Village, Harry Potter Hogwarts Express and the trains that had real smoke coming from the smokestacks.
I had never seen so many trains before in my life and we both had a great day together on the railroad.

Welcome to the Evans Family Blog!
I thought it would be a fun idea to put together a blog for the Evans family. Here we can post our thoughts, family updates, vacation notes, family pictures, upcoming events and anything else you can come up with.
I encourage everyone to bookmark http://slevans.blogspot.com/ and come here weekly to see what is going on in the family. Post whatever you want, the more we use it, the better it will become. Enjoy!
