Before There was Extreme Madness, there was...

...Wyatt's Third Birthday! I can't believe he's three! I couldn't wait for Wyatt to turn one, and then two, but now, I'm just sad. He's not a baby anymore. He can do so much, just like a little man!

His party was Diego themed, as if you couldn't guess. He was a little overwhelmed by all the kids in his house, so much so that the G-ma's thought something was wrong with him. "He's fine, just overwhelmed!" I'd have to say over and over again. But in the end, it was a lot of fun. We played "Animal Rescue," "Pin the Spot on Baby Jaguar," and "Pass the Rescue Pack." (Sorry if you have no idea what these things are, its Diego slang.)

I made a lot of things for the party, but only because I like to do that sort of thing. I love all the free digital scrapbooking stuff you can get online these days. I used a camo print from Summertime designs for the invites. And I Photoshopped Wyatt in his Halloween costume so he could be standing next to Diego! It was Wyatt's idea to have the dogs in the photo. Diego has Baby Jaguar, Wyatt has Duke and Da Vinci!I made homemade goody bags with toys, lime playdough, and candy. I was all set to make homemade cupcakes until Wyatt found little Diego figurines and fell in love with them. So off to Von's for store bought cupcakes instead! Woo Hoo! We had a nacho bar for lunch, and yes, I will say it now (because it makes me look good) I snuck carrots into the ground chicken filling and sweet potatoes into the cheese sauce! I was a rock star with the moms and I am not too modest to say it!

My favorite project was the birthday banner I made. Can I just say, I was obsessed with making this banner. It took forever, hello, 18 letters, but I was in such denial about the five gazillion other things I should have been doing, I just threw myself into this banner. It was definitely an excuse not to do other people's work, and to just lose myself in something for me and my family. Once again, Wyatt will have to take this banner with him when he gets married and I will annoy his wife every year. "Where's my baby's birthday banner?" I will ask, and then my daughter-in-law will sigh hopelessly and put it up so I'll be quiet, even though I'm sure she's thinking about how ugly and beat up it is. Not that that ever happens to me!

Some of you may say that this party was a bit much. That I'm spoiling Wyatt, but I'm saying, this is the life of an only child. Hopefully Wyatt won't always be an only child, but when you only have one, an that one is your world, going over the top for a three year old's birthday seems justifiable.

Anywhooo, it was a great day, and everyone had a great time! Fun times, fun times.

More of Wyatt's Words

At the dinner table: "Daddy's got an attitude."

After turning on my laptop (which he isn't supposed to do)

Me: Wyatt please don't turn on my computer.

Wyatt: But I gotta see Daddy-dot-com!

"Its the cross man!" (Looking at the crosswalk sign)

After getting out of the bath, Wyatt looks at his pruney fingers and exclaims, "My fingers look just like Nini's!" (Nini is his great-grandmother!)

So Many Ty's!

My little crush on Ty Pennington must have been a tad too obvious in our house. Just now, as I scrolled down on our blog, Wyatt looks and exclaims, "Theres so many Tys!" I think its time to get this Extreme project behind us!

Dee Dee

She is just a cute little Australian and was the nicest in the bunch. Gave lots of autographs and was the only designer to acknowledge the VIP tent. Which, (get ready I'm about to go on a rant) really burns my buns that the designers would acknowledge the spectators more than the family members sitting in the VIP tent. We were in the VIP tent because our husbands and fathers were sacrificing hours of time they could be with us, so that a house could be built! We weren't VIP because we had lots of money to throw at ABC! Without our "bacl shirts" planning and working thier butts off the designers wouldn't have a show to get a paycheck from! Whew, there, just had to get that out! Back to Dee Dee!

Eduardo

Would you believe there is someone out there taller than Byron? Doesn't he have great hair?

Paulie

Paul seemed to be doing the most work on the set out of all the designers. Interviewing, touring the house, at several points the guy was covered in paint!

Are You Extremely Sick of Pictures ,Yet?
