I'VE BEEN TAGGED... (thanks Maegan)

I am supposed to list 5 things about myself that is unique or nobody knows about me.
First I must say I am an open book…therefore there’s not much about me EVERYONE doesn’t already know…But here it goes.

1. I have a niece that is a year older than me.
2. I’m the man of the house…if it’s broken I fix it, or my husband hires someone.
3. I was home schooled till 4th grade, or you could say I stayed home till 4th grade.
4. My Dad died when I was 11.
5. I’m the youngest out of eight kids.

I tag Tavah B., Amy Murphy, Amy Cook, Katt (sister), and Kirsin Spencer.
BACK TO SCHOOL

Doesn't she look BEAUTIFUL!!

That's right Giraffy went to school too!

IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME...well a few weeks ago...

Ok so I’m a little behind on my family “highlights” aka family blog…so sorry to the two or three of you sitting on the edges of your seats just waiting to hear how MY life has been the past couple of weeks. Well…PERFECT!! Not that any of you are surprised, come on you know my husband…his goal in life is to make me happy. It even works most of the time.
I have been busy having fun with both my girls in school…ok so Aleigha’s preschool doesn’t exactly leave me any time to do much more than drop her off and come home to watch Oprah and eat some bon bons and then maybe catch the beginning of Dr. Phil (you know the important things in life) before I get to go pick her back up. To be honest I miss Aleigha while she is gone. Really, she is the funniest 3 year old ever. She is so me and yet acts so much like her Dad. For example yesterday my neighbor waved to us and Aleigha said “mom who is that?” (Which she knew, I think she was just setting me up). So of course I said, “you know her, silly.” And her response…”Mom I know EVERYTHING but I don’t know EVERYBODY.” See…just like her dad…and MAYBE a little like me (you know the humble part). Anyway I now get 2 hours twice a week where the air isn’t filled with that wonderful sound of “Mom, MOM, Mooooom, Mommy, Mom” I do think my kids hold the unofficial world record for how many times a day they use the word ‘Mom’. It’s funny how I couldn’t wait to hear their sweet little voices say Mommy for the first time...now I know where the phrase “be careful what you wish for” came from.
The great news is Tylah LOVES her new teacher. Which makes all the difference in the world.
Tylah is so sweet and smart...I'll give that credit to her dad. It makes me so happy to know that she is loving school, because heaven knows I didn't...that is when I actually showed up.

GUS'S BIRTHDAY
Last weekend Nate, Ryan, Alisha (my brother and sister-in-law) and I, left our kids home with sitters and caught a flight to Boise Idaho for a “Big Fat Greek Birthday Party”. One of Nate and Ryan’s best friends from high school, Gus, was turning 30. Gus’s amazing wife Sara, who just had a new baby, threw him a big surprise party, which lasted all weekend.
It started off a little ruff with Delta (surprise, surprise) forgetting to put Nate and Ryan’s golf clubs on the plane, which was funny…well, it was to Alisha and I, because we had been watching the “luggage loader kid”, not loading much… lets just say he was brushing up on his texting skills more than his luggage loading. We had been joking about it before it happened. They were both able to rent clubs (which I guess was a great excuse for not golfing well) for the first day, so golf ended being just ok. Nate only took 2nd…but no worries, he took 1st once he got his own clubs back…Can you tell I’m a proud wife? Delta was able to get them their bags on the next plane.
Sara’s family, Gus’s family, and friends from high school and college, all came in town to help celebrate. Sara had planned for us to all meet at the golf course, Gus thought he was going to be playing golf with his father-in-law, but SURPRISE we were all there at the club house when he arrived.
After the boys finished golfing, and the girls got done shopping, we all met at Gus and Sara’s for a Big Fat Greek Dinner (thanks to Gus’s Mom, she always makes the best food). It was so much fun getting together with everyone and telling stories about the “good old days”. And of course playing a little ping-pong.

WHITE WATER RAFTING
The next morning Sara had scheduled white water rafting and zip lining, for those of us who were feeling adventurous. We woke up early and drove to the canyon. After a short bus ride, they gave us an even shorter presentation on how NOT to drown. Yah, that’s right who needs instructions on how to control the raft when it’s quicker to just skip all that and only teach you how to survive after you fall overboard. The instructions pretty much included keeping your feet up and waiting for someone to come rescue you. Even though I had done it a couple of times before, years ago… it wasn’t the most comforting presentation. After all was said and done, it was actually so much fun and not scary at all, nothing to get worked up about (not that I did… well maybe a little). We had 14 people, so we were split up in to two different rafts, which made the ride so much more “adventurous”. We had water fights with our other raft, which I must say our raft won every time…no thanks to me of course, my contribution consisted of either taking cover, or accidentally splashing the person next to me… in my own boat… oops! I’ve never claimed to be a skilled “splasher”
Half way through the river, everyone in the other raft looked very mischievous… suddenly they came full force toward us. Next thing we knew, Jimmy (a friend from the other raft) jumped into our boat, followed by Ryan, in the attempt to take over our raft and throw us overboard. Needless to say they got away with only a measly ore or two. We owe most of the thanks to Angie (Gus’s little sister) for taking Jimmy down with a simple bear hug throw down. I wonder what it would feel like to be a 6 ft. 200lbs man and get defeated by a 100 lbs. chick…I think I’ll ask Jimmy. Anyway we got our ores back and made it all the way down with only one person falling out…and it wasn’t me, it was Mark, Gus’s Dad.

ZIP LINE
We ate lunch and headed straight for the zip line. By far this was my favorite part…totally in my element. Nate went first, then me. The first three were zipping from tree to tree. Then on the fourth one, we went over a small valley then a larger one. The view was amazing. The only bad part is the more you weigh the faster you go, this was the only time in my life that I remember wanting to have more weight on me. I wish we had more pictures, but our camera broke during one of Nate’s graceful landings.

TYLAH & ALEIGHA
I love these pictures of my girls, they look like best friends. If only that were always the case. I know they look so kind and sweet with each other, but don't let the photos fool you, they love each other, they just don't show it as often as they should. They are as opposite as their looks.
These pictures were taken by my beautiful, kind, sweet, generous, babysitting sister-in-law Maegan, watched our kids so that Nate could take me on a surprise mother’s day trip. While we were gone she took these pictures of our girls and framed them for me for mother’s day. She is so creative and a great photographer…thanks Maegan!
"SIX CUTE GIRLS AND ONE LITTLE STUD MUFFIN"

For Easter our mother-in-law bought dresses for all of the grand-girls. Last month we got them together to get some "Smith cousin pictures". It was so funny watching the photographer try to get all of them to pose at the same time... or even smile for that matter. In spite of it all I think he was able to catch some really cute pictures of each kid:
FRIENDS
Ginger and I met about 4 years ago. I wouldn't say we became great friends right away, until believe it or not a windstorm brought our friendship closer. One night we were on our way home from a group date with some friends during an extremely bad windstorm. The wind was strong enough that it blew out the window of the car we were in. In spite of the wind, we still decided to stop at the grocery store a couple of miles from our neighborhood, to pick up a few needed items. On our way into the store, a huge gust of wind launched Gingers wallet out of her hands. After running all over, collecting all we could, she realized all that was still missing was a brand new $20.00 bill she had just gotten from the bank. As fate would have it the next morning while we were cleaning the window wells outside our home, I found a $20.00 bill just like the one she had lost. I took the $20.00 back to her... the rest is history... I guess you could say I had to buy Gingers friendship. (I got a great deal, because she's worth more like $22.63).

So here are some pictures of us:
THE ADAMS FAMILY
We (the Adams family) rarely get our whole family together for pictures. I think the time before this was about 10 years ago. My oldest sister was coming in to town so the rest of the family made the trip to Salt Lake to have a family get together. While we were together we felt it was time to update the family picture. We all met really early in the morning at Liberty Park. All I remember is freezing, hence the red noses. Then went to breakfast. It is always fun to get the entire family together.
