Snailblazer

Today I got up early to go to a local book,toy and music fair which is always very good. Sorry no telling where it is as I don't want too many more people there (although Ingrid you might have to come too next year). Even though it wasn't supposed to start until 8am I got there at 7.50 and there were already people looking. This is the type of sale where there are boxes everywhere and people are on their hands and knees rummaging through them. I heard one lady say she had found some Secret Seven books and contemplated jumping her for them but thought better of it.

It managed to get some great things including:


(some of you may remember the French version I picked up here.) This was a lucky find as I happened to go back to a box I had already looked in and there it was.

I haven't even looked at these yet to see what condition they are in I just saw them and grabbed them.

Again a lucky find in a box hidden under the table.

I also got a Fisher Price Tree House and horse for Lucy but I can't prise them away for a photo. So a very good day indeed!

I was a very lucky winner over at Sarah London's blog last week and I received a lovely package in the mail today.

Firstly some fabric I purchased from her including this great Matryoshka fabric.

I also won a guess the fabric scraps in the jar competition and I won the fabric which includes some lovely pieces which are nice a big and will work wonderfully well with softies.

I took my mum to the Good Food Show today and we were lucky enough to get tickets to see Gordon Ramsay.

He was absolutely fantastic, no swearing, great food, 1/2 just wasn't long enough. Even my mum who didn't really want to see him loved him and I think she is now converted.

The only downer for the day was Charlotte was sick before we left but thought she was well enough to come. Of course when we got in there she wanted to come home, luckily my lovely brother drove into the city to pick her up, thanks Ash. She was really disappointed though as she gave up a party because she really wanted to go, hopefully next year.

Why didn't anyone tell me about Wool Flannel? I got some last weekend at the Remnant Warehouse to make some softies and it is fantastic, it's soft yet sturdy. I love it! I made another rabbit with it (he hasn't had his face done yet but I was so excited about the wool flannel I just had to post about it. This is the guy that looked like a penguin before getting his ears so I am going to adapt the pattern and give a penguin a go.

I also made Charlotte a skirt this week for the school dance last night. I used a flamenco skirt pattern that was doing the rounds a while ago and except for hemming it which was a pain. I made a little pouch and buttoned it to the front so she could keep her money in for lollies and chips (ps I borrowed this idea from Milli)
And here's Lucy have her first ice block, she usually has to share with Charlotte, which means dolled out lick when Charlotte feels like it, but yesterday Charlotte had a friend over before the dance and they both had one so of course Miss Stubborn had to have her own.

A few things I'm working on at the moment, envelopes with patterns in, the unravelled tape measure (the kids love it, I'm often tied to the chair as part of some game), the trusty unpicker. It's a bit of a mess but if you could see my desk at work, well let's just say I can't even see the desktop.

I missed last week's this is and I was very disappointed as I went on a fantastic holiday in 1999 but I didn't have time to go hunting for the photos as it was back pre-digital days. Suffice to say my favourite destination is New York, although I loved Disneyland, San Fransisco, Niagara Falls, Ireland, England and many other places. Oh and I loved South Africa in 1995 during the Rugby World Cup.

Ok Sydneysiders get yourself over to the new Remnant Warehouse. They have finally opened their new store (although the old site is still operating selling remnants only). The new store is bright and there is plenty of space to get around. For those mums out there no troubles here with a pram now. They still have their great range of quilting fabrics along with dress fabrics, now they also stock patterns, more ribbons, threads etc. They also look to be doing classes as well, so if you live nearby or are willing to travel give them a call. Best of all they still have the same friendly service.

So what did I buy. I actually didn't go overboard as I went mainly for some wadding and some wool flannel that I am going to use to make some more of these.While I was there I had a call from Adds. I'm sure they thought I was crazy as I was describing fabric to her over the phone. I ended up getting her 8 fat quarters from the new Moda Nest range. I hope I got all the right ones.I got myself these other fabrics. Mod Girls from the Sis Bloom range. I am actually going to ring and get some more of this because when I got home I realised it would make a great tunic or skirt for Charlotte.
The orange dot which is an American Jane, the brown which is a Denyse Schmidt and the other dot which is a Heather Ross.
I also should have gotten a charm pack of the Moda Nest so might have to add that to the order.

It's worth taking a trip there as they have specials on all the time. Happy Shopping

Some of my regular readers (if there are any!) may remember when I got this at the op shop

After many nights in front of the tv I finally finished embroidering it and it is now sitting proudly on my mum's toaster (unfortunately it is too small for ours).

I really enjoyed doing it and I am now thinking of other embroidery tasks I can do.

It seems like ages since I posted anything crafty. I have been busy doing some small projects but the weather has been terrible so taking photos hasn't been an option. With the rain looking like it will continue for some time I took some photos inside tonight so they are not the best but you can get the picture at least.

Firstly this little bunny Lilac. She is for a gift so I won't say who she is for but I loved making it and I think there will be lots more bunnies on the horizon.

Next this very, very basic tote. I sometimes take crafty projects to work and have been taking things in plastic bags so hopefully this will do the job a bit better. It was very quick as it's not even lined but it suits what I wanted it for. I stitched my Brown Owls name on the front too. it was made from a vintage sheet I picked up at the op shop recently.

Then I made this sewing holder. I tried to use the pattern from here but it really perplexed my for some reason so I ended up making it like a pencil/notepad holder and next time I will change it even more to make it simpler. I used the embroidery pattern from Kootoyoo though and it was great. I stitched my Faraway embroidery onto the front.

And finally I have been making envelopes from vintage children's books. I will probably pop these onto Made It soon
