Giveaway

I'm still here but I've been sick again, I really wish winter was over. We have had so much sickness in this family over winter. This time it was a head cold so I have been in bed early every night.

I received a lovely package from Adds this week with some great Amy Butler fabric, some pink flowery fabric and some smaller bits and pieces. Thanks heaps Adds, sorry it has taken me a while to update my blog.
I've been very lucky recently winning things on other people's blogs so I though a giveaway would be in order. So leave a comment on this post before midnight Sunday (that's Australian time) and I will get the random number generator thingy to pick a winner on Monday. So come out of lurkdom and let me know what you think of my blog or just say hi. The winner will receive a package of goodies tailored specifically for them.

To finish up here's Lucy pretending to be Elton John

Brilliante Weblog Award

My gorgeous quilting friend Helen nominated me for this award the other day. I was lucky enough to meet Helen (and her wonderful sister Adds) in March and I consider myself very fortunate to have them as friends. Helen makes the most beautiful quilts and I am lucky to own one (ok technically I don't own it, Lucy does)

Here's the rules:
Put the logo on your blog.
Add a link to the person who awarded you.
Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
Add links to those blogs on yours.
Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

And the winners are....... (I tried to nominate people who haven't already received and award)

Erin from House on Hill Rd
I love Erin's stuff and she recently made a wonderful quilt using vintage sheets.

Corrie from Retro Mummy
I can't believe Corrie is about to give birth to twins she has been doing so much. She also stocks great fabric in her Retro Mummy shop

Bianca from Sadieandlance
Would you believe we knew each on another life! I love Bianca's work with The Toy Society

I'll have to come back with the others as Lucy has just woken up.

This is..........

what made me happy, today!

We took the girls to see Disney on Ice today and the look of awe and wonder in their eyes and the smiles on their faces made me happy today. Of course my family always makes me happy!

Cupcake and Tea Swap

I recently took part in a Cupcake and Tea Swap hosted by Rachael Rabbit. My parcel has now been received by April over at Cake Makes the World a Better Place so I can blog it at last.

Firstly this tea pot bag

Tea Cozy (I can tell you this really tested me)
Cupcake pin cushion

Pin Sharpener (this was fun so I think a few of these will be floating around)

Tea and a Cherry Ripe (this swap went to England so I thought an Aussie treat was in order)

An Ideas notebook (front and back) made from a vintage recipe.

I'm Back

After a short break due to technical difficulties I'm back! I received a lovely package in the mail yesterday from Erin. I sent her some vintage sheet fabric a little while ago for this project and she sent back a lovely journal.
I think this is what the crafty blogging community is all about. People happily lend a hand and don't expect anything in return but there is usually a lovely little surprise that comes your way. Thanks Erin.

I have also had heaps of projects floating around in my head lately. I lie in bed at night not able to sleep because I am thinking so much. This bag has been on my mind since we went to a recent wedding and I didn't have a small bag to take. I made this drawing (yes I am a crap artist) ages ago. Then this week a girlfriend rang to see if I wanted to go to dinner this week and I thought a new bag might be on the cards because I didn't really want to lug my larger everyday bag with me so I whipped this up. Ok maybe not whipped, there was quite a bit of unpicking and a bit of swearing (at myself and the machine) but finally I came up with this. A lovely aqua print on one side and some Aunty Cookie on the other. I was really happy with the final product and can see a few more of these surfacing especially in a larger size.

On a final note a BIG THANK YOU to Angela of Leeloo for getting my bobby pins featured in Shop Till You Drop magazine.

Oops I almost forgot. Check out this blog to win a fantastic quilt.

And make sure you join this swap that Meika is running.

Just for Helen, some photos of Lucy with the beautiful quilt she made when Lucy was born. I was taking some photos of some quilts I have just made for gifts (sorry no photos until they are received) and Lucy dragged in her quilt and decided she needed some photos taken.

She was really hamming it up for the camera but I really wanted her to lie down so I could compare it to this photo.

This is..........

my most treasured childhood possession.

I must admit this is not mine. I foolishly got rid of my Chrissy doll (named Audra, after the character on The Big Valley) when I outgrew her. I did manage to get one on Ebay a number of years ago but don't have a good photo of her. She came in the original dress but without the shoes.

I loved this doll, her hair could grow longer by pushing a button on her stomach and to make it shorter again you turned a dial on her back - childhood bliss.
