The Summer So Far

The kids have discovered Jello.
Luke likes it. Isabella thinks she does.
And in a strange twist- it's the only thing Julia won't eat. Huh?

I forgot to take a picture of the rainbow. Just imagine it- Rainbow Jello.

I wish I could say we do interesting stuff. But we don't, and I'm too lazy to develop, execute and record interesting stuff. Mostly the kids run around outside with the neighbourhood kids. Julia stays inside with me, but she'd rather be out there in the world. When she's not sleeping or eating, we go to the pool. Oh and I obsess over what colour to paint the walls! That's it.

The Hike at FountainHead. This is the coolest trail ever. And it's so so close to our house. I think we counted 10 different types of mushrooms and we (that is I) had fun identifying the trees. Another cool place we hiked was Hidden Pond. We've already been to Burke Lake, but not since we moved here. That's coming soon.

Our little puppy! She really carries everything in her mouth. Well she used to, before she decided she'd rather walk.

Luke is practicing how to pray reverently. He's our best and worst pray-er. That is he offers the best rote prayers in town, but he can't sit still when other people are praying. So we make him practice.

Happy Birthday Julia

My baby is so cute! It's was hard to choose just one picture...

Yes that's right folks, she licked her plate clean!

Five and Alive!

For the last six months Luke has been correcting me when I tell people he's Five.
"No! I'm four!" he says emphatically. I don't know why it's been so hard for me to keep it straight, but now I don't have to worry. He actually is Five. Hopefully next year I won't tell people he's five when he's really six.

Anyhow Luke's been unlucky in his birthdays.... basically he gets the shaft every year. Let's take a walk through history. Remember this is supposed to be ammusing, not depressing.

2012: The Duratio hits. Julia is born. Luke's bithday party is cancelled. But Grandma's is town. She takes him swimming. He gets pizza and a brownie with chocolate icecream and chocolae sauce. It was a bit of an over kill for my chocolate loving boy. There must be some reason this is the only picture. However I assure you, Luke had a happy #4.

2011: We're moving to a new bigger house. Everything is packed in boxes. Luke misses out on a big party- like the one his sister had earlier. Oh yes he remembers.

2010: Willy takes the bar. The kids and I spend the summer wearing dirty pajama's and eating boiled eggs.

2009: We're moving again. Everything is in boxes. Even the cake.

2008: Luke weighs in at 10lbs.
"They" call him a sugar baby and take blood samples from his heel every 30minutes for a whole day. Already Luke ia a lazy eater. Prefering to have food poured down his throat he refuses to nurse. Actually I think he wanted to sleep, but the doctors were worried about diabetes and kept him awake with bottles and heel pricks.

Now fast forward to this year. 2013. Luke is getting his birthday party- no matter what.  It seemed like a good idea to have his party in May before we moved again and before school ended.

Using the circle shape as a theme I planned a sort of field day. Parachute games, Ping Pong races, Twister, Bubbles, Hula Hoop Tricks. With Donuts Pizza and Capri Sun to drink. Only it rained and there were twenty kids (including siblings) running wild through our small town house. It was insane, but I think Luke had a lot of fun. And it was a good thing everything was in boxes.

Luke's birthday party in May

Looks like this is for Isabella right? I do like her look of wonder.

Luke's actual birthday in July. We ate his cake for breakfast, so I put candles on his dinner. I ordered 10 large pizza's for Luke's party- I'm sick of pizza. Also since we've been 'celebrating' Luke's bithday for nearly two months, everytime I bake a treat he wants to know if it's his birthday again.

Sometime in the last 30 days Isabella...

Lost her First Tooth
I took this picture BEFORE (at the old house).
You can't really tell but Isabella's got shark teeth.

Isabella is thrilled to finally cash in some teeth, well a tooth. Willy and I debated back and forth about how much the Tooth Fairy should leave. A largish lump sum seemed appropriate to me. Willy was shocked. "There's no way the fairy is paying that much for each tooth." I was shocked. "The fairy comes more than once!"

Here are some head shots of some other beautiful people in our family:

Cute Pictures of Julia

errrr, how did this get here?

Guess who?

Things that Begin with "L"

Luke sitting on the front steps of our new house way back in May

Liability-free stairs going up. Do you remember the cool boxy minimalist stairs in the other house we almost bought? These aren't as cool, but they're much safer.

Liability-free stairs going down. Julia has never fallen down our stairs yet. Of course we do have a door to the basement, which we usually leave closed.

Thses 'Liatrop' ikea units came with our house. It was a real selling point for Willy. Really.

My new LAMP. Isabella broke it. The day after I took it out of the box she snaped the pole right off the base. I was mad. But it's ikea... and I buy ikea stuff so my kids can break it. In theory.

Our new Dehumidifier. No it doesn't start with 'L'. Clever of you to notice.
Anyhow, without this little puppy our basement would smell like the morgue.

This is our Lazy Lawn. We own the awesome deck.  The common area beyond is practically our own private backyard that we don't have to mow! Awesome!

I always intented to plant Lilacs when we bought a house. And our new house already has lilacs! This place totally agrees with my goal follow the path of least resitance.

This is the Last box. It's still unpacked. We'll get to it soon.
