Ride vs Drive

October 16, 2008

I wanna learn riding! But also must depend on time, money and everything, sigh. It’s quite easy to handle now, cos I am having 1 day off, that day can be used to learn.

It’s a cheap transportation and I can use it everyday. Just at 2k, I can get a 2nd hand Honda NSR150SP.

I really wanna learn

Just as I thought … yes!

October 16, 2008

Just as I thought the chances are slim for my Noise Singapore Apprenticeship, I received a call on Thursday telling me that they shortlisted me for it. Yesh! I will have to go for an interview tommorow with the professional there. I hope I can get through.

Internship at Omens Studio is coming to an end and I can say, I have never regret joining the company. It has been a great time with the people there. The managing director treated us like his full time staff, he have total trust on us.

Sedo Dog Episode 1 has been reviewed by Mediafreak and there are alot of shots being dropped. We are now into the stage of finalising the animation and get it ready for rendering and lighting.

We spent our last night there with just the 3 of us. The managing director trusted us alot and handed us the key. There is no one else except us. We worked till about 3am on our own accord to improve on our work.

As expected …

September 22, 2008

As expected, I did not do as well as the other semester. However I am glad to secure 1 AD, 1 A+, 3 As and 1 B, attaining an overall GPA of 3.8+. Well, I am kinda glad that at least it did not drop that much.

I am aiming again for the 4.000 again next semester, preparation will start soon as I am ready for my home-based self training and learning on rigging for 3D characters. I got the materials prepared, just need to get into the mood.

Just submitted my apprenticeship application for Photography for Noise Singapore with the help of my mentor. Thanks Christina!

Well, Adrian was on leave last week so I am the only animator left in the studio. Progress was quite fast as I managed to finish like 5 shots. We asked if we could bring out the tutorials from the studio but we were rejected because it’s paid materials and it’s MDA property.

Will update again

First week at Omens Studio

September 14, 2008

Hi all.

Tomorrow will be our result day for Semester 3, the semester is a little bit difficult for me to do well because I miss out the part on proper time management. I focused too much on some modules and neglected some. Well, what will be will be, I hope that I can receive a acceptable result so that it will not pull down my cumulative point.

My first week was fun at Omens Studio. I am doing on a local production called Sedo Dog. I am now working on the Episode 1 of the animation together with Adrian, we are tasked to develop the animation for the episode.

Well, life is there can be good and can also be bad. This is because we have to develop something that is up to standard before we send them for critics. We cannot be just doing like what we did for assignments, just get it and done with. 6 weeks for 2 simple 15second animations that we did in school is really very little as compared to here. There is a standard set for everything and we will have to reach beyond it. The good thing is, we are having very fexible working time, we can reach the studio anytime at around 10am. Another good thing about the studio is, all the workers there are very motivated, they come in on time and start working on their assignment when the producer has yet to arrive.

We also need to work with people from KL. Basically, when we finish our shot, we upload it to the ftp server, and then we will need to email them for critics. This is my first critic that I have received.

Hai ,Joseph

for action-
Cosmo _ overall is ok ,only between frame45 to Frame49 the head got a bounce on it ,because you only use 4 frame to make the head turn and the radian is big.so just need to smooth it out.

facial-
-Cosmo eyes is blinking to much ,
(Normally our eyes blinking when the time we are thinking  , like while a person finish a sentence he will blink his eyes then just continues other sentence.ect.
Other like while a person turning their head or knocking  head.
For some animator will say a person will blinking their eyes every 3 to 5 sec)

-The word Tress in the sentence is missing ,frame 38 to 44 mouth must be open.
-Start from frame 77 the mouth still talking wit no any sentence, please just make it close.

Other action is ok ,Sedo second times eyes blinking is too fast, one frame close and one frame open will make the animation look pooping

CheeWei

Usually after the critic, we will have to touch up the shot and then once it’s accepted, we will have to put it up onto their main server where all the files are referenced and another guy will arrange for lighting and rendering. Before we start animating everything, the modeler will set up the scene into sets and some props at the main folder. What we need to do initially is to reference them to Maya and then, compose our shot there. By creating references, the whole production saves alot of time because if happens that there are changes to the scene, the modeler can just change it in the main file without affecting the animation for the rest of the shot. This is how their pipeline works. I have also got to learn a bit of MEL scripting which I did not get a chance to learn in school. More to learn, more to discover.

That’s all for my first week.

RC

September 14, 2008

Hey all.

My machine had it first run after so long yesterday and it was great, I observed that the shell should stay intact with the chassis all the time, especially during hard cornering and driftings.

I modified a new ESC, electronic speed controller, in it and it can now perform better in term of braking and accerlating, this gives me more control to the pervious stock Tamia basic ESC that I had.

The tyre should change around after every run to make it better. My next up project will be changing to a better performance motor for faster speed than the sport-tuned motor which I am having it now.

August 29, 2008

Hi all,

I am going to be an intern animator for Omens Studio, Singapore. I will be starting my internship on the 8th Sept 2008 for one month. I wonder will it be useful for me in the future in my career. I will be working on animation in the whole production pipeline for Sedo Dog, a combination of 3D and 2D animation locally produced by Omens Studio.

What’s up next? Current affairs writing workshop and a Public Policy forum next week.

Gonna send in logos design for Greyrock consulting now. Hope that I can be shortlisted.

Its vacation now and there are alot of things that I want to get it done. My mentor called me this afternoon and she ask if I am interested to go for an Internship with Omens Studio in Singapore.

Ugly Commuters

June 17, 2008

All these days while I was traveling on the train to school, I observed that there are actually wide spectrum groups of train commuters you can find in the train.
First, they are the early homemaker, the one who you see around with big bags of fruits and vegetable. They are well respectable in my perspective because they are the one who sacrifice their sleep to wake up very early in the morning to go to the market to get the freshest poultry or vegetables for their family.
Second, they are the students, the one who you see with school uniform are obviously those from Secondary School or Junior Colleges. Those from the Polytechnic are those you see around with coloured hair and funky clothing.
There are so many groups of people like the working adults, senior citizens… etcs. I am not going to evaluate every group but I am going to share about a special group of people known as the uneducated rascal commuters.

This group of uneducated rascal is rather special. They are not physically disabled nor mentally retarded or are they spastic. They are those you see around, thinking that the whole world should let him/her enter the train. They are the one who thinks that they have a 5m x 5m boundaries personal breathing airspace for their rotten alveoli.
I met one of the uneducated rascals today. Too bad for them, they met me. There is this uneducated aunty who board the direct train to Pasir Ris at CCK and alighted at Bt Batok. (See, that’s what I meant, uneducated). She forced herself into the train and was standing behind my back. The train was packed and at Bt Gombak, more people who are going towards the city tried to come in. The atmosphere is tense.
Upon arriving Bt Batok, that rascal alighted and while she alight, she turn back and look at me and bite some word as she walk out of the train. Luckily she didn’t fall off or wad, if not, I may burst into laughter.

Of course, being the smart one, I kept quiet, acting as if I did not hear her as I have my earpiece on. Everyone along the way turned and stares at her, thinking that she is crazy. Someone from the back pushed her out of the train.
These uneducated rascals are so getting on my nerves! I hope they can disappear from the world.
