The past 5 weeks were filled with many experiences I will not forget. Whether it is the good or the bad, they are kept as precious memories or lessons learnt. I believe this trip has made all of us grow stronger as we venture out in a foreign land. The bonds we have with other friends have also grown stronger. You may foster new friendship, see old friendship restored, friends who may never have quarreled giving the cold shoulder and friends who show another side of them you have never seen before. God is good and faithful, even though many things happen in Boston; He never failed to pull me through. Through His grace and mercy, I learn to be more forgiving, accepting and loving to other people. I thank God for blessing me with great friends and sisters too. They mean so much to me; their encouragements put a smile on my face whenever I am feeling down. I also learn the importance of walking by faith, not by sight, allowing God to lead. Courage from God helped me to change my perception of things. People showed me how to love and care for others even though sometimes it is so hard to do so.
When we came to Boston, I observed and thought for long. Is our cohort going to go back still confined in their cliques and comfort zone? Will we be like cohort 1 and bond closer together as a big family? It didn’t seem that my wish would come true until the last few days in Boston. I saw the unity of people coming together - to help each other pack their luggage so that they are not overweight. There are friends offering to help others in need of space to put in stuff in their luggage. The morning of departure was hectic but people came together to help one another - some holding on to the lift door and the various doors to let others pull their luggage through. Some helped others with their luggage. Putting heavy luggage into the boots and carrying up onto the bus because of the lack of space was a really tiring task. We did it because everyone gave their best to help - some lifted, some supported, some carried, some encouraged. It may not sound that inspiring at all to others but at least it did to me. I was touched and happy because we did all things together. You can be a team player or a leader but ultimately, we are all part of a team and everyone is important. Never belittle yourself and think that you are not important. Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference in life.
