Steven Curtis Chapman - The Invitation

In The Palace In The Land Of Mercy
The King Looked Out From His Throne
He Saw The Sick And The Homeless And Hungry
He Saw Me Lost And Without Hope
And Moved With Compassion
He Sent Out His Only Son
With The Invitation To Come

This Is Your Invitation
Come Just The Way You Are
Come Find What Your Soul Has Been Longing For
Come Find Your Peace
Come Join The Feast
Come In This Is Your Invitation

So I Stood Outside The Gates And Trembled
In My Rags Of Unworthiness
Afraid To Even Stand At A Distance
In The Presence Of Holiness
But Just As I Turned To Go
The Gates Swung Open Wide
And The King And His Only Son
They Invited Me Inside

So Now Will You Come With Me
To Where The Gates Swing Open Wide
The King And His Only Son
Are Inviting Us Inside

This Is Our Invitation
Come Sinner As You Are
Come Find What Your Soul Has Been Longing For
Come Find Your Peace
Come Join The Feast
Come In This Is Your Invitation
This Is Our Invitation
This Is The Invitation

This Christmas...
For the lost, may they be found again in Jesus
For the weak, may they receive healing from God
For the poor, may they be blessed abundantly by God
For the discouraged, may they find strength in the Lord

We may be struggling but don't let our struggles sink us down! We may not be swimming strongly but we know we have a God that we can hold on to. He is our lifebuoy. Float by faith today. Trust in the Lord.

Blessed Christmas, everyone! =D

Finally, a break for me!

A break at last!!! It has been a real roller coaster ride for me for the past few months. Starting work initially was filled with much excitement and stress at the same time. Then sickness struck and my health hasn't been good since then. I really hope with this break, I can have much rest away from the childcare environment and also build up my immune system with the help of supplements. To think that I have to eat supplements....All in all, I still want to thank God for all that I have gone through these past months, both the good and the bad. Coming back from the trip, it will be a whole new year for me in school already. I am taking the K1 class with many talkative children. I really hope I can do a good job in managing the children and also to educate them.

Alright, put these worries aside, I want to enjoy my trip! Please keep me in prayers =D

A Word With You - Oct. 22, 2010: The Reason You Must Keep Running

If you're into college sports, it's always a big day. If you're into professional sports, it's always a big day. Some call it Alumni Day or Old Timers' Day. Whatever you call it, it's the time a lot of those who played on that very same field come back to cheer on the men and women who are today's players. If you're a player and the game is tough, glance up there in the stands. You'll see some people up there who know how you feel, who've played the game you're playing, who've gone against that same opponent, and who are up there right now, screaming their lungs out for you. They just really want you to win!

That picture of the alumni in the stands, rooting for the ones who are wearing the uniform today, is the inspiring picture that God gives us for those times when our game is tough. Hebrews 12:1-2, our word for today from the Word of God, and maybe it's God's personal encouragement note to you today.

"Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus." The image here is one of an Olympic runner, running his race, encircled by thousands of cheering spectators in the stadium. The cheering crowd here is people who've gone before us who are watching us run the same race they have run successfully before us. And you know they've got to be cheering for you: "Don't give up now, man. Don't drop out. No, don't go off on that detour. Don't let that thing trip you up. Don't drop our legacy, man. Don't let it die with you!"

So who's in this "great cloud of witnesses?" They're God's honored alumni, who have run for Him in previous generations. The previous chapter, Hebrews 11, identifies some of the all-stars who are watching you and me from the stands: Noah, Abraham, Moses, David. And maybe they've been joined by greats like John Wesley, and John Calvin, and D. L. Moody, and those five missionary martyrs like Jim Elliot. Or grandparents, great-grandparents, a mom or dad, who ran their race for Jesus all the way to the finish line, no matter how hard it got.

The previous chapter tells about some heroes of earlier races whose names we don't know but who paid a very high price for the very things you're running for. They're in the stands. They're cheering for you, too - those who "faced flogging" and others, the Bible says, who "were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword...the world was not worthy of them" (Hebrews 11:36-38). We are running our race under the gaze of people who paid with their lives to finish their race for Jesus. So what's that that's keeping you from running? What's tripping you up? What's your reason again for slowing down or giving up? This is a faith that people have sacrificed for, shed their blood for!

The secret of running strong and running all the way to the finish line is still the same as it was when the lions came down the chute at the Coliseum 2,000 years ago - "fixing your eyes on Jesus." Because He didn't quit when it meant spikes in His hands and feet, thorns in His head, a spear in His side, and all hell poured into His soul. So you look up in those stands and you listen to those who finished like heroes. You look up there at the finish line at the One who gave it all for you - and remember that all of them are counting on you to finish what they started. To carry what they refused to drop. And there's Jesus waiting for you at the finish line, waiting to welcome His weary but winning runner home. You can't stop now!

"Restoring Someone's Broken Dream" - Girlfriends in God - Oct. 21, 2010

By Sharon Jaynes

Today's Truth
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

Friend To Friend
I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, 200 miles from the coast. And yet, our local Wal-Mart has a random smattering of seagulls that soar overhead and eat French fries and other debris from neighboring fast food restaurants. The truth - seagulls are lost. They've taken a wrong turn. And instead of discovering where they went wrong, they've settled for the asphalt parking lot rather than the salty sea. They've reconciled themselves to feeding on the refuge and trash of harried shoppers rather than the fresh seafood cuisine of their feathered forefathers.

It's not just the seagulls that are lost… who have forgotten the reason for their very existence, the habitat for which they were created to survive and thrive. It is human beings as well. Many have become lost. They are standing in the parking lot of life subsisting off of the refuse of fast living.

Someone needs to point them to the ocean of opportunity, the sea of success, the shore of satisfaction. And I'm not talking about money or materialism…that IS mere French fries compared to the abundant life that God has for His image bearers. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).

Do you know someone who is discouraged? Who has taken a wrong turn in life? Who has let the fire go out on their hopes and dreams? A friend? A husband? A child? If so, hang the fire extinguisher back in the corner and become an encourager who fans even the smallest spark of potential into flame. Let's send those "gulls" and "buoys" back to the sea of opportunity where they belong.

"Lessons on the Sanity of Friendship" - She Seeks - Week of October 18

*an inspirational entry from a girl who liked to run in the alley with the boys

I think it's because I was raised with an older brother that I learned at a very early age that playing with girls is hard work. I was five, and my friend and I were having a tea party [because that's what little girls do]. She poured the imaginary tea, and I set out our pretend chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. We were giggling and laughing until out of nowhere, she got mad at me. My little girl mind immediately wondered why.

Her reason was obvious, even to me: I didn't want to be the "mom," I wanted to be the "dog." She didn't approve. According to my friend, dogs couldn't attend tea parties.

After learning the news from my friend, I slammed my teacup down and said, "This is stupid! I'm going to run in the alley with the boys." Mad, I marched my way through the dirt all the way to the fence gate that led to the alley. I could hear my brother and his friends laughing, running and cheering. The alley was fun. The tea party was drama.

The truth is, even as a grown woman I tend to want to run in the alley rather than play tea party with the girls. I'm anything but a tomboy, but I admit that I get bored with the drama that women bring to each other.

But though my instinctive nature is to run from bossy tea party attendees, I have realized over the years that I do need women as friends. I'm happy to say that because I have opened up my heart to them, I have experienced beautiful friendships that have taught me some valuable lessons on staying sane through friendships with women. Here are a few nuggets those friendships have brought...

˜Room to breathe is a gift. While I love my friends, I'm not a person that needs to talk to my friends everyday. Some people are, and I get that. But we all have to make room for each other's personalities and needs. A friend who doesn't take distance personal is priceless.

˜Trust is a must. Let's just say it -- there's nothing worse than a person who has a big mouth. Being able to trust your friend as well as them being able to trust you is the most valuable aspect of relationships. Value your friendship and the trust you've worked hard to build and remember that when you are tempted to share something that is private.

˜Seasons come and seasons go. While this has been the hardest lesson I've learned in friendships, I've come to accept [rather than mourn] that there will be seasons of life when I will be closer with some friends and not so close with others. While we struggle through different aspects of life the fact is, sometimes we will grow apart.

Friendship is truly a gift from God. But we can't ever expect a friend to fill a void in our life that only God can. We also have to know that perfection is only attainable for God -- friends will let us down and we will let them down.

The old saying is true; to have a friend...you must be a friend. And while sometimes friendship may feel like a risk, it's one well-worth taking. You'll never regret the memories, heartfelt moments and making a difference in someone's life. Find that friend you need, and never let those bad friendship experiences ruin your tea party.

A Few Good Men

There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

Tim Kimmel, who along with his wife, Darcy, is a frequent speaker at our Weekend to Remember marriage conferences, remembers the two of them going out to eat sometime around his fortieth birthday. As they were waiting for their meal to arrive, he began doodling a crude picture of a casket on his paper napkin.

Turning it around to face his wife, he asked, "Darcy, how many people does it take to carry one of these things?"

"I don't know," she answered. "Six. Or eight."

"Okay, if I were to die tonight," he asked, "who would you call to be my pallbearers?" She began giving him a name or two, followed by the names of his brothers.

"No, not my brothers. They don't count. They'd be required to be there anyway. I want you to think of people who wouldn't feel like they had to come but who would drop whatever they were doing if you called them." Unfortunately, those names didn't fire so quickly to mind. And that's when Tim realized that he couldn't be sure he had enough real friends to answer his roll call for casket carriers.

That bothered him. He realized that, like so many other men, he had not really worked on building friendships. And that bothered him.

Since that night, Tim has been spending time with men, pouring his life into them. He is choosing to invest himself in people rather than fritter his time away on trivial, temporary matters.

You have a lot of choices in front of you—all kinds of ways you could spend your time and energy in the remaining years of your life. Will you use them to draw you closer to others or more deeply within yourself?

Turning Tragedy into Triumph
By Os Hillman

September 11

"So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you" (2 Cor 4:12).

On 9/11/01, New York City firefighter Stephen Siller had just completed his shift when he heard on his truck's scanner that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Siller quickly turned his truck around and attempted to drive back to Manhattan via the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel but found the entrance blocked by abandoned vehicles. Desperate to join his elite Squad One brothers, Siller donned 75 pounds of fire gear and ran a mile-and-a-half through the tunnel, before an emergency vehicle picked him up and dropped him off at Tower Two.

Siller had been orphaned at the age of 10 and raised by his much older brothers and sisters. Siller died that day trying to save others. He left behind a wife and five children.

His story proved so inspirational that it became a legend in the newsrooms and firehouses of New York City. His six siblings - who in many ways viewed Siller as a son, as well as a brother - found themselves grappling with a dilemma: should they allow the tragic circumstances of their brother's death to paralyze and embitter them or use it as a catalyst to help others and preserve his memory?

The Siller family chose the latter.

Once they made that decision, and armed with no extraordinary wealth or political clout, the siblings combined forces to convince New York officials to close down the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel the last Sunday morning of each September and stage the "Tunnel to Towers Run" to commemorate their brother's heroic last run.

Each year since 9/11 tens of thousands of runners have retraced the steps of a hero. As part of the event 343 New York City firefighters, each representing a fallen comrade and holding an American flag, stand throughout the length of the tunnel. They are joined by firefighters from across the United States, each holding a poster-size picture of a firefighter who perished on 9/11.

The Siller family has raised more than $1 million and donated the money to charities that benefit families of those affected by the 9/11 attacks.

This is a tribute to one heartbroken family who opted to channel its energy into triumph out of tragedy.

Say Yes!

Forgot the date =X It's definitely a Sunday cause we were going to Church!

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:10 (New American Standard Bible)

When someone hurts, we should respond to their pain. When one of us is weak, another should be strong. Those who stumble and fall should be able to count on someone to pick them up and finish the race. Instead, we often shoot our wounded and leave them lying in the dirt to find help on their own.

Admittedly, the problem is not always that we are unwilling to help someone in pain. Sometimes we are simply blind to the fact that they exist. We overlook hurting people because we are in a hurry or maybe we just don't want to deal with the mess of a broken life.

Jesus Christ willingly left His throne in Heaven and came to Earth as a man. He felt every pain we have ever felt or will feel. He was afraid and lonely and often had no place to "lay His head." Jesus was misunderstood and slandered and then crucified to pay for our sin. It must break the heart of God when we so easily toss aside what cost Him so much, the life of His only Son, Jesus.

Look around you, girlfriend. Someone needs you to acknowledge their pain and be willing to do something about it. Just say "yes" and God will show you the next step.

By Mary Southerland

Father, forgive me for the times I could have made a difference in the life of someone who was hurting, but didn't because I was too busy or just didn't care enough. Help me to see the needs of the people around me and teach me to recognize the wounded hearts. Lord, I want to serve You by serving others.

In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.

Feel so loved when hugged by little ones, haha. Just yesterday afternoon, while the children were having play time, a boy walked over and gave me a hug. He hugged me for some time some more! It's like an out of the blue moment. I didnt even know that boy, he's not from my class! But that hug sure felt good, a genuine warm hug =)

Timely Message!

Just as I was about to sign out of msn and shut down, this email popped out. It appeared at the right time as I prepare to settle down and pray to God. Kinda anxious about work tml, those fears and expectations of me. Really hope I can settle down well and have supportive colleagues.

I hope you will settle down well at your workplace too.

= Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. But while you're working on it, God's working on YOU - which is far more important to eternity =

God wants to give you a breakthrough………

God wants to give you a breakthrough—a sudden burst of His favor; an explosion of His goodness. He wants to release His power in such a way that it overwhelms you and drives out your enemies! Maybe you have been praying about a relationship for years, and suddenly, things get into place. That’s a breakthrough. Or you were trying to get a certain job. They said there were no openings; but suddenly, they call you back and you get the job. That’s another breakthrough. Perhaps you have struggled with an addiction for a long time, but then something happens and it’s not a struggle anymore. Those are all breakthroughs. No matter what you’ve been facing, no matter how impossible things look, know this: the God of the breakthrough wants to visit your house. Get ready! Look for His favor and goodness. Remember, God rewards the people who seek after Him. So keep expecting, keep believing because the God of the breakthrough is ready to overwhelm you with His goodness today! Bible say in 2 Samuel 5:20 “…the Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like the bursting out of great waters…” Prayer for Today: Father in heaven, today I am expecting Your goodness. I am looking for Your favor. I’m trusting that You, the God of the breakthrough, are working mightily on my behalf. Help me to live a life pleasing to You as I wait for Your hand to move mightily in my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.

First of many steps

It's 1st of August 2010! A few more months to yet the end of another year and I am gonna turn 23, shucks...hahas. It doesn't feel good to be getting older day by day. I've been coping with some lower back problems since last week. Maybe it's just that I haven been exercising for a super long time so time to get back into shape soon. Speaking of which, I pretty much will as I officially enter the workforce. I foresee tiring days as I return home and lie flat on my bed. Nevertheless, I guess I have to start working soon, I cannot be pushing to a later date to start anymore. Beginning to feel bored some days when there's nothing to do, I can't be out hanging around, playing or shopping every day. I have enjoyed way more than I deserve. August marks a new milestone in my life, in various aspects. I hope I wont fail You this time. =)
