What the...!

Yeah, it is a bone. As you know I have been deep cleaning my house. A new room every month. Well this month is Shane's bathroom. It isn't even a full bathroom, only a half bath. As I was cleaning out his drawer that has all of his shavers in it (and whiskers, and combs, and bullets, and you name it pretty much and it was in there), I found this piece of a bone! Sick! This is actually only part of what I found of it, because my first reaction was to just get rid of it as fast as I could. The other part of the joint got lost in the garbage somewhere. But I can assure you that the other piece was bigger and had dried up pieces of meat on it. So gross! When I asked Shane what in the heck it was doing in his drawer he (thankfully) at least knew that it was there and why it was there and where it came from. Mongolia. In case you were wondering. It was a gift from his friend Ashley Lewis who brought it back especially for Shane. Shane thinks that it may have had some sort of special meaning, but he couldn't remember what it was. Well Ashley, I'm really sorry, but Shane can't keep your memento in his bathroom drawer anymore, it just grosses me out too much.
P.S. I know just how long Ashley has been home from his mission (i.e. how long this has been hiding in my house), and I will not be reporting on that.

The New Coat

On a much lighter note...

I've been in the market for a new coat for a long time. When I went to work on Thursday these coats were not there. When I went back on Saturday night there they were. And there were only two left! I wouldn't have even noticed them except a customer asked if we had any black ones left in the back and I took it and went to look for them. When I asked my manager about them (because I had never seen them before, and I had only been at work for 5 min), he told me how fast they were going because they were so cheap. There were no black ones left, so I took the coat back out to the customer and told him. He took the white one and there was only one left! I grabbed it. I took it into the back and tried it on. Then I saved it in a special spot until later when it was time to close. Now for the best part:

Do you see the price tag?! All clearance was 40% off on Saturday (that is what the orange tag means). I get an extra 30% off because I am an employee. I paid $22.00 for it with the tax and everything. I just love a good deal.
P.S. I am not an impulse shopper. I usually will wait and think about it, or go home and regret it. But I have not regretted this purchase at all. I wore it to church on Sunday and it was so warm and toasty. And for $22 I feel really good about it.

Rest in Peace

I suppose that now you all have heard that on Wednesday night Dan Seals passed away. I've posted a new playlist of Shane and I's favorites. Hope you enjoy it.

For Suz

Last night we went to Coalville. On the way down Tyler mentioned that he needed to go to Bell's because his teacher said that there were ribbons and stuff that kids had set up in memory of the little boy who died there this week, and he wanted to see it. So by the time we were ready to come home it was dinner time and the kids were starting to feel it, so I ran to the store really quick to get something fast to make for dinner and Tyler said "Oh yeah I've still got to go to Bell's." And just teasing I said "For Dinner?!" Only Shane thought that I was serious and I told him that I wasn't, but I do like their cheese sticks. I thought that that was the end of it. I went to the store, we drove past the memorial and let Tyler see it, and then we headed for home. Except all the while the twins in the back were talking about cheese sticks, and how good they are. So as I pull in the driveway at our house, Brooklyn starts SCREAMING "We Forgot to go to BELL'S! Need Cheese Sticks! We Forgot to go to Bell's!" She cried and cried about it. She was so excited to get gas station food for dinner, and I guess I really let her down.

Yard Sale!

This morning I had a much needed lengthy conversation with my oldest sister Rose. We pretty much covered everything, and while we were talking I mentioned the need I had for a yard sale, and the disappointment that I felt that they just don't work in my community. I have so much stuff that I need to get rid of, but I don't just want to donate it because it was expensive and most of it is hardly used. She told me that she was going to have a big yard sale at her house in a couple of weeks and so I invited myself up there to participate. Thank you so much Rose for allowing me to do this! I have already made up a list in my head of all the stuff that I want to bring and as I was telling Shane about it he casually asked if I was going to haul a trailer too (because the truck was going to be full). No I am not going to take a trailer, but I do plan on getting rid of a few larger "baby" items. When the truck is full, I guess that is all the stuff that I'm going to take. Anyway...I am super stoked about it. If you want first dibs on any of my stuff email me and I'll send you my list of everything that I'm getting rid of! hahaha
BTW I love it when you open a fresh bag of Cheetos. The first ones always taste so fresh and delicious.

Dear Old Navy,

I received this email today, and I must say that I am really sick of your mannequin models. I will not buy clothes based on what they look like on a piece of molded plastic. Of course your clothes are going to look good on a mannequin, but I have some news for you...REAL PEOPLE HAVE A BUTT! Not only that but the clothes have to fit over it you idiots! I'm pretty sure that this is the worst marketing idea that anyone has ever come up with and I for one am not going to shop at your store until you bring back real people! In fact I might as well say that I'm not shopping in your store until you bring back a little bit of quality. I got an Old Navy shirt for my birthday last month that was made out of fabric that had to be less than 100 thread count. I have to layer it just so that you can't see my bra through it. It is ridiculous and I think that you are cutting all the wrong corners in order to save a buck. I understand that in these hard economic times we all have to pinch a little, but I can tell you that no one is going to fall for this crap that you are trying to pull.
Signed,

Cabin Fever or Spring Fever?

I have been the most miserable person to live with lately. I am so cranky, I don't want to do anything. My house is a mess and I am the last person that I think should clean it up. I am so sick of being inside that I just want to scream. I want it to be warm outside so bad so that I can take the kids out and so that we can all just get a little bit of space from each other, but it is either too windy (like a tornado), or it is just too cold. It will snow later today and tomorrow, I'm not sure how much longer I can take this.

The Draper Temple

On Saturday we went with Shane's family to the Draper Temple open house. It was totally PACKED! There were people everywhere. Enough that it was almost un-enjoyable. We had all of our kids and they actually were pretty good considering the conditions (hot and crowded). However...a few good things really stand out in my mind:
#1...My most favorite part of the evening was in the middle of the temple when Brooklyn broke out in song. She sang "I am a Child of God" for a crowd of about 100 people. I figured it was appropriate and that Heavenly Father probably wouldn't care so I let her sing.
#2...Also about Brooklyn. She wanted to know where we were going while I was getting her dressed in her Sunday clothes, so I told her that we were going to see the temple and that it was Heavenly Father's house. I realized that I had said too much when she started talking about seeing Heavenly Father at his house, and she was really excited about this. I told her that we weren't going to see him tonight and that seemed to be the end of it. Later that evening when my arms were too tired to carry her 30 lbs anymore and I put her down with strict instructions to hold my hand, she refused and took off toward Shane. As she ran past Shane (who merely watched her run into the crowd of strangers) he heard her say that she was "going to find Heavenly Father."
#3...When 200-300 people are all whispering at the same time it is noisy. I noticed throughout the temple it was this way. But when we reached the endowment room it was painted all over with beautiful outdoor scenes and as we walked into the rooms (there were two of them like this) a wonderful hush came over the crowd and you were able to feel the spirit and the sacredness of the whole building. I don't know if everyone quieted down because of the spirit or because of the paintings, whatever the reason it was nice to have that quick moment of silence, and I appreciated it, it made it all worth it.
When I asked the kids what they thought was their favorite part of the whole experience they said:
Tyler: The Oxen.
Chris: The Cows.
Brooklyn: Jesus have owie on his tummy, people not like him. I nike (like) the school bus too.

When I told her that it wasn't really a school bus, she changed her mind and said that she liked the temple bus.
