Ugh!

I just got home from the pediatricians office with Brooklyn. She has a UTI. Which means that she has been peeing her pants for a very good reason...it hurts too bad to go, so she waits until it is too late, and it also means that she is going to be on antibiotics for the next ten days. So we walk in the door from our little outing and it is just in time for the motrin that I gave her this morning to wear off, her body turns blue, she gets covered in chills and then she starts crying uncontrollably. So I pull out my bottle of antibiotics that I just bought at Wal-mart (for $55.00) and I pour some into the little spoon for her. She then proceeds to scream that she doesn't want to take it. Then I put a little teeny tiny drip of it on her lips so that she can see that it is not yucky but tasty and she gags on it and throws up on me. Then we try again, because she has to have it and I am not wasting my $55 bucks. She throw up on me again, but she takes the spoon as if she is going to do it herself. She did give it a good try, but she gagged on it again and spilled it all over the bathroom floor. I was so mad, she could tell too, because she ran right in to her room and sat on her bed for a time out. I know that is what she was doing in there because I heard her telling Chris when I was walking down the hall after I cleaned up all the throw up. Anyway the self imposed time out really calmed her down and when we tried again she drank it right down without one gag and even proclaimed that it really wasn't yucky. My pants on the other hand really are yucky and smelly, so I'm going to go change.

Tyler's First Loose Tooth

Just now as I was feeding Tyler his lunch, he said "Mom, I think that I have a LOOSE TOOTH!" We've been through this before, but I check it out every time and today it was really loose! His first loose tooth. He was so proud. Tyler has been waiting for this day for a really long time. Then I started to get the whole story from him..."I bet that the tooth fairy will come tonight" "What if it falls out in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping and I swallow it." "I was just eating my lunch and my tooth hurt a little and I thought maybe I have a loose tooth, and I DID!" "I'll probably wiggle it all day today until it falls out." "Mom, Keagan got his first loose tooth right when he turned six." "I'm not going to tell dad because he will want to pull it out for me and it will probably hurt." "I don't want to eat a cookie, because when you have a loose tooth sometimes you chew with the loose one and then it hurts, or it can fall out, or maybe chip off, and I don't want that to happen." (this one was my favorite because here he's had a loose tooth for about three minutes and he talks to me like he has suddenly become the expert). Anyway he was really excited, so we'll keep you posted on when it actually falls out.

We're all done!

I took this picture of my living room on Thursday. I have just had so many projects going on lately. Unfortunatly the rest of my house pretty much looked like this too. Shown in this picture is the new treadmill that Shane bought (we'd just brought it in the house and we needed to clean out a space for it). I also have my sewing table out where I am sewing a quilt for Brooklyn's new big girl bed, which is also shown in the picture...it is the pile of wood on the floor.

Like I said before, the whole house is a mess. These two pictures are before pictures of Brooklyn's room.

Here is how her new bed looks in the room. I should note that the quilt on Brook's bed is NOT the quilt that I am making. I did not quilt this, a lady in our ward did for our wedding. I put it on the bed as a temporary, because I have not finished the one that I am making. (At the pace I'm moving on the sewing project this quilt might be a permanant addition).

Here is the after shot of her room. We still have to put her bed back against the wall, but we wanted to let it dry a little bit longer before we did that.
I love the way the purple looks against the window. Like it just came out of a Better Homes and Gardens. Unfortunately it also makes for a dark picture.
Here's Tyler, he wanted to pose for me.
When we started painting the primer on the walls, Brooklyn wandered in and said "Oh! it looks ssssoooo BEAUTIFUL!"
And while we were taking off the tape just now, she says "I love my beautiful PURPLE room. It is wonderful!" I've never even heard her say wonderful before. I guess she just saves that for the really special things.
She also told me that now all she needs is for me to paint some Princesses on her door. I guess I'll have to get right on that.
As a small side note, I just watched Dan in Real Life (while the paint was drying and the kids were napping). I really liked it. I'm definately recommending it.

Even Steven

On Saturday my sisters and mom and I had a huge, successful yard sale. Then on the way home from Logan, Brooklyn came down with a fever. She'd had a little cold with a bad cough...Anyway the point is that on Sunday Shane needed to conduct in Elders quorum and I needed to teach primary and someone had to stay home. Then on Sunday morning Chris was coughing and had a runny nose. So we decided that Shane would stay home. I was going to come home after primary, and I thought back and forth about whether I was going to do that, and I finally decided that I was going to stay for sacrament meeting. Then I remembered that I had my tithing all ready to go and it occurred to me that I should pay on my yard sale money. Then I remembered that I really wanted to pay off my credit card with it. I wouldn't have enough if I paid my tithing. But I get paid again at Nike on Thursday, and I went back and forth and back and forth and I decided that I wanted to pay the tithing. WELL...When I got home from church (an excellent meeting by the way) I put on a pair of capri pants that I haven't worn since last summer and hidden in the pocket of the pants is $20! WooHoo! So the moral of the story is that you don't have to do what you are supposed to do, but maybe if you do you'll find twenty bucks in your pocket.

This guy says it all!

Yesterday we rented the Disney Princess Stories Vol. 1 from Netflix. I always get a kids movie for the middle of the week and one for me and Shane for the weekend. I've been thinking of buying this movie from the Disney Movie club for a while and I didn't know what to expect so I thought that I would rent it and see if it was good or not. Well the answer is not. Not even Brooklyn liked it and she loves anything princess. The kids were begging me to turn it off because it was so stupid. So this morning I got an email from Netflix saying that they got it back and would I like to review it, so I did and I only gave it one star and then it shows you what everyone else thought of the movie and I found this little gem that somebody contributed:

A Gift from the Heart??? More like A Gift from the FART!!! This movie stunk!!! Bad!!! REAL BAD!!!

I felt the same way and it made me laugh, so I decided to post it here. A word of advice...Don't rent this, and especially don't buy it, it is a total waste of money.

Nap Time

I let Brooklyn help me tuck Chris in for his nap...

Then she tucked herself in on the other side. She was ssssoooo mad at me when I picked her up and moved her to her crib.

Big Beds!

On Saturday we bought a "Big Girl Bed" for Brooklyn. The problem with that is that there is no room in her bedroom because there are still two cribs in there. So it is still in a box on our living room floor. So last night we told Chris that he was going to have a sleepover in Tyler's room (on the bottom bunk) and we tucked him in in there. Brooklyn cried and cried because "I didn't! I NEVER get sleepover." Chris slept all night long. Brooklyn woke up sobbing at 5:30. I know that she was just lonely, but she didn't know the word to tell me what was wrong. When I put her back in bed after I got her a drink, she didn't want me to close the door, and she kept trying to stall my leaving the room. She was still awake at 6:00 when Shane left, so I turned Sesame Street on and let her come in my bed and snuggle for a little while. I remember when they were little and I had them in the same crib for a little while. When I moved them to separate cribs, Brooklyn had troubles then too. It is so sad. It makes me want to give up on the whole big beds business. I've been waiting for them to grow up for so long, and now I'm not so sure that I'm ready for it.

The twins

Brooklyn was in my room coloring the other morning. And she called to me "Mom, I'm a teacher!" And I said "Oh are you a French teacher like Nanny Nancy?" And she gave me the most disgusted look and said very matter of factly "No! I am teaching Ariel about lipstick!"

As you can see Ariel has several very beautiful colors of lipstick on. ("The Lipstick" is always the first thing that she colors on every picture.)

I was very busy vacuuming my house today. When I finally finished and looked up this is what I saw. They were having so much fun taking the couch for a little ride. They say "Yee-Yaw, Yee-Yaw."
