A Christmas Story

No Christmas is complete without a funny Christmas story...

Two nights before Christmas we receive a call. It goes something like this.

Clay: Hello?
Caller: Hi Uncle Clay (It's our nephew Aiden calling)
Clay: How are you?
Aiden: I opened all the Christmas presents... Thank You... I'm sorry
Clay: You're welcome

Aiden hands the phone over the Ally (Clay's sister).

Apparently when Aiden said he opened all the presents he meant ALL the presents. Every single one of them. It didn't matter who it was to he opened them all. This is what happens when you leave a 4 year old and a 2 year old (Drew) unattended for 10 minutes to go fix dinner so close to Christmas with too much temptation under the tree.

In other Christmas news my folks were in town. We had a great time! We saw Trans Siberian Orchestra which I highly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to go see them. We also ate entirely too much and played a lot of board and card games. Good times were had by all.

Happy New Year!

A funny finals story

Finals are finally over with. Between the ice storms and the power outages it was an interesting experience. However, no finals session is complete without a funny story.

We take our exams on computer and to block out the sound of 50 other people in the room madly typing away we wear ear plugs. Prior to one of my exams I was quite nervous and had a bit of a gastro-intestinal issue. Anyhow, I'm typing along and out of nowhere I let a loud toot. (Not a stinky one mind you). However, it was rather loud. But I was comforted by the fact that everyone was wearing ear plugs... or so I thought. A few minutes later I glanced to one side and the guy sitting next to me didn't have ear plugs!!! I was so humiliated. However, he seemed rather intense so maybe he didn't notice... maybe. Luckily I don't know this guy so he'll just be sharing the story of the girl who let the loud toot during the test... but he won't know my name!

So there you have it...

JK Rowling is a Genius

For those of you who enjoy Harry Potter you probably already realize Rowling is a genius. However, she has now shown what a marketing genius she is. In the last Harry Potter book Rowling had another book woven into the story line. That book was called "The Tales of Beedle the Bard." Recently she announced that she actually wrote this book and produced 7 copies. Six of these copies she gave to close friends and the seventh she auctioned off for charity. While it was on my wish list I don't think my mom was looking for a $4M stocking stuffer.

Why does this make Rowling a genius you may ask... well I'll tell you. Right now there are lots of people like me who are Harry Potter fans and would love to get our hands on a copy of that book. However, there is no chance it's going to happen. But in about 10 years people like me will have children about the age to read Harry Potter. So all JK Rowling has to do to restart the fever is to release this new book "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" in a slightly more affordable $15 version and Viola! Instant Harry Potter mania all over again... What a genius!

In case you were wondering what a $4M book looked like here you go. Apparently she hand wrote each copy and it's bound in leather with silver and semi-precious stones.

Intelligible Principles and other such nonsense

I love the Supreme Court. Just when you think things can't get any more complicated they come up with tests like "textually demonstrable Constitutional commitment of power." WHAT?!?! Theoretically that makes sense.

Wish me luck the Constitutional Law final is tomorrow!
