Spring Break

In all the hubub surrounding Miss Lily's entrance into the world I didn't blog about spring break. Clay and I went to Phoenix to visit my grandparents which was a lot of fun. We played golf and we got to meet the other baby in the family. Introducing Miss Molly grandma's 2 lb poodle.

Isn't she cute!

We had a great time and really enjoyed our visit in Phoenix.

Also, since I never post pictures of Clay and I here ya go. last night we went to the Law Review Banquet and I actually remembered to have someone take a picture of us :)

And because we are so gosh darn cute ...

(Sorry we're a little yellow it was in a ballroom with yellow lighting.)

Lily Landi Klein

After waiting for nearly 48 hours my sister finally gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Lily Landi Klein. She was about 5 weeks early but is perfectly healthy. Mom and baby are doing well. I will post pictures when I get some :)!

I'm Legal!

So a few months ago (I won't be too specific here) I realized my driver's license expired. This wasn't an "oops I missed it by a month" but my driver's license had been expired for nearly a year!! This is a problem.

I promptly tried to renew my license only to find out that the laws had changed and I couldn't just go to a tag agency. The lady told me I had to go and retake my drivers test. No big deal right?!?!

So I got to the testing sight and found out that they were booked that day. I tried back a couple of times to find out that they opened at 7 but all of the exams were booked by 7:30 every day. Crazy.

I then decided that spring break would be an excellent time to take care of this small yet incredibly annoying problem. However, for the first part of spring break we flew to Arizona where the security folks made me produce multiple forms of ID to make up for my expired license. NOT COOL.

When we returned I woke up early and headed to the testing facility the next morning. Apparently you have to get there at like 4am to get in line to be able to take a driver's test. So I called them to see if there was another location or if I could reserve a spot in advance only to find out I didn't have to take the stupid exam and I was lied to. All I needed to do was bring my expired license and my birth certificate. How simple :)!

So this morning, armed with my birth certificate, marriage license (just in case), expired license, and enough homework to keep me busy for a few hours I went back to the testing facility. After sitting there for nearly 2.5 hours my number was finally called. Ironically they don't issue your license at this location all they do is give you a piece of paper that then allows you to go to a tag agency to get your license. So back where this whole saga began at the tag agency I was finally a legal driver again. Why do these things always happen to me?

Oral Argument

For my patent law class we had to read and/or listen to a transcript of the Supreme Court oral argument for a case. At one point the attorney is trying to justify his position based on expert testimony. In response Chief Justice Roberts asks, "Who do you get to be an expert to tell you something is not obvious?" The attorney flounders for a moment and Chief Justice Roberts fills in, "the least insightful person you can find?"

That's gotta hurt. Nothin' like being burnt by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
