I'll bet someone back east is going, "Now why don't he write?"

Well I guess I owe the world one record long update on my life. As you may recall, my computer fell victim to a virus back in February and it took me until April to go to Texas to have my uncle fix it. So let's start with an April update.

April:

I did manage a short post on my big birthday. I have slowly begun to accept that I will be 29 for the rest of my life. So far my second 29th year has been pretty good to me. I'm really enjoying my job and I have a wonderful husband!

For my birthday weekend I mentioned I celebrated by going to Idaho to visit my friend Amanda. She had her first daughter last August and I needed to meet Saiorse.

We tried to do a photo shoot but she kept giving me the deer in the headlights look.

We also went wine tasting. Only in Idaho would this be the road you take to the winery...

The winery
The view was pretty great, but I expect it's even better in August!

My best friend Amanda has been there for me since 7th grade! We've officially been friends for over half of our lives! What a wonderful experience to have someone like that. We had a great time. Miss ya girl!

Her mom, June, also came to visit. It was great to see her since she was a second mom to me through junior high and high school

The girls on our wine tour!

Towards the end of April Clay and I packed up and headed back up north to visit my folks. Along the way we made some interesting new friends.

Watch out dad!

Clay, I told you not to make the elephant mad!

Also, my parents bought a new house last summer they needed some yard work done. Nothing like manual labor on vacation! So Clay and dad decided to pull out some overgrown bushes. When left to their own demise this involved logging chain and a truck. I'll let you fill in the rest...

All of this brush used to be here...

We had a great time visiting the folks. Their new house is lovely and now has a few less bushes :)!

May:

Well we made it back to the city in time for severe weather season in Oklahoma. We are in the process of having our fence reconstructed. And we now have a new addition to our house. Meet the "fraidy hole" (as they are called around these parts)!

It sits around 6 people and a couple dogs uncomfortably but will keep you alive should your house fall down around you in a tornado. After this weeks events I told Clay that I may be over reacting but I want a storm shelter. And now I have one. Hopefully this guarantees I will never need to get in it, but just in case I have it. Now we just have to get the dogs practiced at going down the stairs.

Well as Porky Pig would say "Thhhhhat's all folks!"

PS. For the bonus round, what movie is the title of this blog from?

Safe and Sound

Clay and I are counting our blessings today. Last night one of the many tornadoes that hit Oklahoma passed through our neighborhood. We were watching the news and they kept saying it was getting close. We had prepared the hall bathroom (our safe room) and we were watching out the back window. Clay saw a large dust cloud and said to get to the safe spot. I saw the dust cloud to and ran and hid. Just as we got settled the power went out and we could hear the wind outside. When the storm passed we counted our blessings that we were safe, our house was fine, and the only damage was our fence.

Our east side neighbors. Notice you can see several backyards.

Our west side neighbors.

Notice the one fence post that remains standing and let me remind you of a certain fence incident a couple of years ago. Yes, the fence post that remains standing is the post that we had to fix about a year ago. Thanks again Uncle Don and Uncle Dean! Good work!

Also, just for Alyson, the culprit....

Again our fence was taken down by a child's toy!

So that's the story. We are safe and sound. I, of course, am going to perhaps over react because I'm having a storm shelter installed in our garage on Friday. I guess this one was just a bit too close for comfort.

Also, one of the news channels around here has a web site where you can send in pictures and they will broadcast them. Someone happened to catch a picture of the tornado that hit our neighborhood from inside our neighborhood.

And that, my friends, in spring time in Oklahoma!
