The Other Side

While studying for the bar my friends and I kept making reference to "the other side." We'll have fun "on the other side." We'll eat normally "on the other side." We'll watch TV "on the other side." Well I'm happy to report I am on "the other side."

Yes the bar was all of the horribleness it was supposed to be. We put in long days. There was crying and stress. At times we were pretty sure we could not remember one more rule of law. But the exam is over and now we wait. Results come out September 9th.

Thanks everyone for your support. A special thanks to my wonderful husband Clay for putting up with me not only through the bar but for the last 3 years of law school. You're the best Clay!

So now that I'm on the other side let's do something fun! Call me :)!

That's right folks one month from today the bar will be over and I will be recovering from this fun little process. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I promise I'll be back to my normal, fun self shortly.

Photo Shoot

I just had to share this series of pictures of me and my best friend Amanda from graduation.

A: Which camera do we look at?
S: I don't know, I'm looking at Clay.
A: Ok I'll look at Clay.
S: Dang it I looked at mom.
S: How about we just look wherever we want.
**Cue uncontrollable laughter**
And we finally pulled it together.

You would think with the combined brain power of an associates degree, two bachelors degrees, one masters degree, and one juris doctor we could figure out which camera to look at! And that my friends is why we've been best friends since 7th grade.

I'm "IT"

My friend Becky tagged me. Normally I don't indulge but since its finals and I am avoiding studying like the plague I figured I'd give it a go.

8 Things I'm Looking Forward To:
1. Graduation & the after party!
2. Having friends and family in town for graduation
3. Passing the bar
4. Earning a real paycheck
Yeah right now I can't see past the bar so we'll leave my list to 4

8 Things I Did Yesterday:
1. Took my Conflicts final
2. Went to the mall and had dinner with Melissa
3. Had lunch with Clay & some of his friends
4. Studied for my Conflicts final
5. Took a shower
6. Brushed my teeth
7. At Lucky Charms for breakfast
8. Picked up some of my graduation stuff
(Yeah I lead a pretty dull life)

8 Things I Wish I Could Do:
1. I WILL PASS THE BAR
2. Travel ... there are so many things I want to see
3. Sing (well I can sing but not really well)
4. Remember people's names (I am horrible when I meet new people)
(Again I can't think of 8 things. Man I'm boring)

8 Shows I Watch: (anyone who knows me knows I'm never going to reach 8 on this one)
1. The news
2. Mythbusters
3. What Not To Wear

Ok apparently I'm pretty boring. Oh well. I feel I have fulfilled my civic duty and wasted 15 minutes!

Magically Delicious!

This week I was at the store buying cereal and out of the corner of my eyes I spied LUCKY CHARMS!!! This was my favorite childhood cereal. Mom preferred Alyson and I have healthy cereal for breakfast but this was the one sugar cereal she allowed in the house. (I think that's because my dad really liked it to.) So right there in the cereal aisle I had a childhood flashback and decided that being an adult I could buy whatever cereal I felt like and gosh darn it I wanted Lucky Charms! It's all the sugary yumminess I remember and a child. Right now I think it's the only thing getting me through finals.

A story

If you buy your husband a blueray DVD player for Christmas he is going to want the high-def television that goes along with it. And not just any high-def TV, but one that fits the living room. And if you have a high-def TV and blueray DVD player you're going to need the surround sound system that matches. And if you get a new surround sound system you're going to need to buy a new tuner to run all of those wires through. And if you allow your husband to buy the high-def TV you have to purchase the new TV stand for it to sit on. And if you buy a new TV stand you are going to need the matching end tables and coffee table. ***

The old . . .

Pretty awesome 1980s speaker system!
(This pic was near my b-day thus all the gifts)

Leftover college end table inherited from my folks (thanks mom and dad!)

Shamefully I was using the coolest 1970s gold and brown TV tray as an end table!

Somehow I missed a picture of our excellent coffee table complete with glass top and caster wheels. Man I hated to see that thing go :)!

So without further ado here is the new and improved living room!

46 inches of high-def awesomeness!

Solid wood end table - very nice!

The end table even has a matching buddy!
(As you can see Maggie is thrilled with the new furniture!)

*** Loosely based on Laura Joffe Numeroff's book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie"

Happy Anniversary M&D

It's my parents anniversary. I won't tell you how long they've been married for fear it may disclose their ages, but it's in the neighborhood of over 30 years :)! I don't think I gave away too much there.

LOVE YOU GUYS!

Third Puppy

Clay and I think one of the best "tricks" we taught the puppies was not to get on the furniture. Since both Baxter and Maggie weigh about 80lbs each they would end up absorbing all of the couch space leaving the people to sit on the floor. However, an unexpected consequence of teaching the dogs to stay off the couch is that the cat hardly ever leaves the furniture. The cat (or Tigger as Clay calls him) simply moves from couch top to couch top to avoid the dogs. So this morning I was surprised to find this . . .

Perhaps we have a third puppy! Granted it's a grouchy, biting, evil puppy.

P.S. Yes the dogs were inside when this happened.

Winter Wonderland?

Nope! Just a cold slushy, nasty mess.

Last week (when it was in the 70s) Clay planted some blueberry and raspberry bushes for our garden this year. We'll see if they survive!

Did everyone see this! Yes that says 3"-7" of snow in OKC for this weekend. WHAT!?!?!

I guess someone forgot to tell the weather it's supposed to be spring.

THE CAVALRY!!!

The cavalry came yesterday morning to help fix our fence. Lucky for us my mom's extended family live in town and some of them are retired. So I called my uncle Don and asked if he was a fence building expert? He replied he had built a fence or two in his day and I informed him that in my world that made him and expert! So he grabbed my uncle Dean and they showed up at my house at about 10am with all the fence building tools one could imagine.

Dean & Don assessing the situation

The culprit!
(sorry Alyson I don't think the Power Wheels knocked down the fence)

Basically the fence fell down because the post had rotted. We knew it needed to be fixed a few months ago but no one wants to fix a fence in December so we had braced it and prayed it would hold until summer. Then Monday night we had straight line winds and the usual Oklahoma spring severe weather. Mix the two together and you get a broken fence!

Setting the new post

Clay helped by getting our crew lunch!

Once the cement set our neighbor Justin came over and put up the fence panels since I had class and Clay is still incapacitated.

Thanks uncle Don, uncle Dean and Justin for all your help!

P.S. The dogs say thank you also!

Good Morning

Here's what we woke up to this morning . . .

Yeah that hole wasn't there when we went to bed last night. Looks like I have a long day ahead of me.

SPRING BREAK!

Spring break did what I had hoped to achieved . . . I feel refreshed. The big news is that Clay is driving again which frees up a lot of my time. In fact next Friday (27th) he'll be back on his feet (literally). While I worked all break and didn't have down time the change of pace was welcome. We also had a wonderful dinner with Brianna and her fiance Chase.

In other surgical news my mom has requested pictures of Clay and his brace. While I have some absolutely stunning pictures of Clay in all of his surgical glory with the wonderfully sexy surgery cap and robe (and some super sexy fuzzy socks w/ non-slip bottoms) you will have to be satisfied with a picture of Clay in his brace and crutches.

Clay and his brace (or exoskeleton as he lovingly refers to it)

Clay's injury 1 week after surgery

Also the dogs got their first grooming of the spring.

They are thrilled as you can tell

And the cat was stressed out!
Nap time!
