2010 Deer Hunt

It was a tough hunt for my brother in-law and I but we hung in there till the last minute and we both tagged our deer. The interesting thing about this story is we hunted all kinds of different spots and we killed our deer in the same area two days apart and I killed my buck from last year on this same hill this guy was on.

Early in the season we were seeing some does here and there and then on Monday my bro inlaw spotted a forkie at about 4:30pm and took him.

So Thursday comes around and I can only hunt until 12 cause i got to get back to camp and load stuff up to go home. We went back to the spot Ron (bro in-law) killed his buck and decided to glass for an hour and move on to another spot. Luckily I spot two doe booking it up the far side of the hill i was looking at. I called Ron over and we are both watching the does and Ron says I got a buck! We see two bucks running together at the top of the hill. They started sparring a little and then started making their way over toward us. We get a good look at the bucks at this point and one was really nice, but still too far away. We move closer around the face of the hill we were on and unfortunately the big buck beds down. His little buddy is still hanging out so I decided it was now or next year. I ranged him and he was standing broad side at 380 yards. I squeezed one off and Ron says he is down! I was pumped that I hit him good and then I remembered the how much work it was going to be to get him out of there.

Here he is. It was a lot of work but I had a great time.

This is how we hauled him out of the bottom of the canyon behind us.

Kamden's Birthday

Kamden turned 4 on the 14th of Sept. All he really wanted for his birthday was a new car seat and candy. We opted not to get a new car seat since we have 3 but, we did get him some new whiffle balls to play baseball with. They don't go nearly as far and we all are tired of jumping into the neighbors yards to retrieve balls. He also got lots of candy. We did a little party for him at Peter Piper but I have lots of pictures with foster babies that I can't post. Not that we really need a visual for that anyways right?!

Tex even joined us for some happy birthday cake! This was to cute not to post. This is the kids spaceship they made. A little old fashion fun. They played with this thing for weeks. I loved it!!

First day of School...FINALLY

I have all my kids in school this year. CRAZY. Riley started 4th grade, Carson 2nd, Kai Kindergarten, and Kamden Pre-School. The 3 olders are at Franklin South and LOVING it. Kamden is going to Pre-School with Mrs. Rachel who Kai went to last year. He thinks he's big time now and I'm certainly loving having a few hours of freedom!

Carson's Baptism

I'm trying to catch up so here are Carson's Baptism pictures from July. He is such a sweet boy and we are so proud of him for his decision. He is such a great big brother and is so helpful.

A little bit of Summer...

As usual we did lots of this during the summer. We love to camp and be outside in the fresh mountain air! We added quite a few new camping items to our collection. The kids favorite was real marshmallow roasting sticks. How have we been camping soooo long and not had these? Also I had a great idea to shave all the boys heads before we headed out one weekend. Well I didn't think ahead. Carson's baptism was two weeks away. Opps! Oh well.

The kids put on some good entertainment at night. Nightly Charades, skits and dances!
Riley fell on the dirt bike and burned the HECK out of her leg. (not on this trip but the weekend before) we took her to the Dr. and they were worried she'd need skin graphs. Thankfully she made a full recovery w/o them.

Our fellow camping buddy Sam in the background.

This Picture is for you Ash! This is on our way back from Heber after watching the fireworks.

Carson turns 8

Carson really was having a hard time deciding between a new bike and a DS for his birthday. He said I could decide so of course I opted for a bike. He was so excited and loves riding it everywhere even though it's hotter than heck outside. It was also his last day of summer school. After school was over we picked him up and headed out camping for the weekend with lots of Friends. We dropped Justin off at Scout Camp and head down the road where all our friends were camping. That night we surprised him with a Pinata and our friends brought two birthday cakes up. He thought it was pretty cool.

After we got back from camping we had his birthday party. Lucky for me I happened to be in Ut for my nephew's birthday and totally copied my sister and had the same party for Carson. Minute to Win it!!

It was a great party. I hope everyone had lots of fun. Carson sure did.

Riley and Kai had a birthday..

Riley and Kai had birthday's back in March. I guess I'm a little behind on posting but I still wanted to post about it. Sadly I can't find one picture of Riley's birthday. (what kind of mom am I?) Oh well...we had lots of fun. Her and I went and got pedicures and went shopping. Then we all went our to dinner and Ah-So with Grandma Sorensen. She had a good day. She's already planning her 10th birthday as my kids only have friend party's on their even birthdays.
Here's a few pictures of Kai. He turned 5. We went to Costa Vida for his birthday dinner and had some friends and family over for cake and presents.
Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen got him some toy story Lego's. Here is everyone helping to put them together.
He really wanted this Batman Castle and some guys. He was super excited.

A camping trip with Dad

I went on a quick weekend trip the begining of June to Utah with my friend Alena. While I was gone Justin took the kiddos camping up where Grandma and Grandpa were. He made the kids a rope swing and they had lots of fun on it.

The kids had watched Avatar the night before heading out to go camping. (Guess what they played all weekend?)

These cute boys playing on the quad. I'm sure waiting for their next ride.

He even took our new baby girl Pixie!! Isn't she just the cutest!
What a good Daddy my kiddos have. He loves spending time with them and taking them on fun adventures.

Kai'sPre-School Graduation

Kai had a GrEat time in pre-school this last year. He learned so much and love, love, loved Mrs. Rachel! He was a little shy during the graduation ceremony but, he really came out of his shell during this last year. I'm feeling so much better about him going to Kindergarten this coming year.

Kai and Mrs. Rachel
Kai asks everyday how much longer till Kindergarten starts and Kamden asks how much longer till he get to go to pre-school with Mrs. Rachel!

Melanie kicking off our 1st day.

Spring Break = Disneyland for us (and many many others!)

We took the kids to Disneyland this year for Spring Break. My sister from Ut and my brother for Az ditched their families and flew over to hang with us for the week. We are so glad they came. We had lots of fun!! Here we are on the first day. I think I'm more excited than my kids.

I could NOT wait to take Kai and Kamden on Buzz Lightyear ride. They are obsessed with Toy Story and thought they would love it. Here's happy Kamden before he knew Zurg was at the end. He screamed bloody murder!! He hates Zurg!

Thankfully Kai loved it!

Riley and Carson both got called up to do Jedi Training. Carson was really into flipping his lightsabber open.

Once Darth Mal and Darth Vader came out to fight. Kamden was screaming again!

Then is was off to Pirates which I thought the little boys would be scared on.

I was wrong again. It was every ones favorite ride.

Uncle Jeff with the kiddos on Pirates.

Family photo op in front of the Matterhorn.

Jeff and Melanie! You guys rock! So so glad you came!

A little ride around the park on the train.

Me, Jeff and Melly

Our last morning there we had Brunch with Goofy.

We all took turns at night going back to the hotel with the two little boys. The last night there Melanie took the boys back and Justin and I kept Riley and Carson and let the pick whatever they wanted to do. It was fun spending quality time with the older kids.

We took Melanie to the airport and then went and played at the beach for a while before heading home. It was a great trip and we can't wait to do it again.
