Sweet boy, I can hardly believe you've been with us for two whole months already!
It's been a big month for you, little one. You spent your first time away from us with a babysitter, spent your first night away from home at the Hotel Zaza, saw your Uncle Michael and Aunt Ashlee get married, got your first little touch of sickness, went to church regularly, slept (once) through the night and began regularly getting a bath around 1030pm, getting swaddled, eating and going to sleep around 11pm, sleeping for about 5 hours straight , then getting up for the day with Daddy around 7-730am. Bedtime has become very easy and routine and we're all feeling a little better now that we're getting a little more sleep!
In this last month, you've really started to show us who you are and give us little peaks into your personality and we love it! It feel like you've really turned a corner this month (and really, the last 2 weeks) and all three of us are starting to figure this thing out a little bit. You've become such a sweet happy baby, with much more time spent smiling than crying, which has been so much fun! You still like swinging and bouncing and the sound of rain white noise, but we don't have to use it quite as much just to keep you happy. And, you've found your thumb, which you LOVE--it keeps you content and even helps you to put yourself to sleep for some naps. You're also very into looking at lights and fans--they can keep you happy for quite a while. You smile and coo and talk to us all the time--its so fun hearing your new noises and sounds. We keep saying "mama" and "dada" back to you, but nothing yet. :) And, you've begun grabbing onto to all kinds of things around you--my hair and earrings, our shirts, your little toy rings on your play mat. You are to the point where you like to play and can entertain yourself for short (10-15 minutes) periods of time. I love looking over to see you playing with your little Baby Einstein ocean play mat and just smiling and talking to the little octopus--we refer to her as your girlfriend, ha. Precious. You're also pretty opinionated--you like what you like and don't like what you don't and don't hesitate to let us know--most recently with this little shreiky yell. It's kinda cute though, so sometimes we just end up laughing when you get angry about something. And, you've inherited your momma's ability to sleep--sometime you'll go from screaming mad to sleeping on our shoulders in about 2 seconds flat.
Your eyes are still a beautiful grey-blue and your hair is finally starting to grow back in on top! At first we thought it was coming in blonde, like your dad's was as a baby, but now it's looking more brown like mom's. You're still in your newborn diapers and some newborn clothes--but also all of your 0-3 month and some 3 month outfits, though they're still a little big.
You light up our world, sweet one. We love seeing you grow and change and learn new things! Here are some pictures from month two.
tummy time with Daddy, doing a little baby push up
hanging out with your daddy, in your bumbo chair--you're not quite able to hold your head up enough to sit in it by yourself, but with a little headrest, you love to sit up in it and be able to see all around you
You're still pretty long and lean, with just a teensy bit of chub on your little thighs. Really though, you lucked out and got your dad's legs--and we can already feel your little leg muscles developing! Probably from all of that standing and pushing and kicking you've been doing. You can pretty much completely support your body weight on your legs now, with us just holding you for balance. Crazy! I love it--except when I'm putting you in the sling and you continually stand up inside of it, haha.
some more tummy time and sweet smiles with momma
Our little thumb sucker. I think God has a sense of humor--despite how cute it is, we were both determined not to have a thumb sucking baby, but you have a mind of your own. You love your thumb--you've pretty much mastered putting it in your mouth, but haven't quite mastered keeping it in every time.
Your little hands still shoot up whenever you get startled. I still love it.
You're a good little sleeper. You'll sleep on us, in your swing, in your bouncer. I'm pretty sure there's nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.
I love when you fall asleep on me. :) Even though you like to be on the move, you've also become a little snuggler lately and I adore it.
The hands are always in the mouth these days.
Either that or you're blowing spit bubbles.
You had his first bottle this month. Not a fan. Daddy did such a good job and you ended up drinking a couple of ounces, but you weren't happy about it. We'll keep working. On a side note--I think you looks so cute in this picture, just looking up at your Daddy like that.
You love lying flat on your back and moving and kicking. You are one active little guy--always moving and looking around you to see what's going on. And I love these little house shoes on you.
Sometimes we read books together and sometimes we play with your little toys. You like to kick this ball--it flies across the room and makes little noises.
You like to hang out in your vibrating bouncer with me while I'm getting ready, making dinner etc. Sometimes it even puts you to sleep.
sweet face. I love those little cheeks and lips.
And those hands. I can't get enough of cute baby hands.
Seriously.
I love them. I could kiss them all day.
Sometimes you also sleep in your bouncer while I run on our treadmill. I think the sound of the fans and the treadmill make it easy for you to stay asleep.
A few months ago, Landon got the idea to plan an event for the people in our Bible class at church. We talked to some people, took a few polls and decided upon a progressive dinner. Neither of us had ever done one before, but figured it couldn't be too hard to plan! :) And, this last weekend all of Landon's (and the hosts) hard work paid off--the dinner went off without a hitch and was a blast! About 45 of us showed up and enjoyed a fun evening eating delicious food, seeing friend's houses and just hanging out and having a good time. And, our sweet baby was SO good, which was a welcome surprise--it can go either way any time we take him out!-- and made the evening so much more enjoyable for all three of us!
We started our night at Brian and Janine Kaul's house with some yummy appetizers--some fruit and crackers and a couple of different kinds of dips!
At each house a couple of us stayed behind a few minutes to clean up and wash the dishes to that the hosts didn't come home late that night to a dirty house!
Then, from there we jumped in our cars and drove down the road to Brice and Tommy Waldron's, where we ate some salad and garlic bread and talked with some more people--some new and some we hadn't talked with in a while.
Aedan took a little power nap while we ate our salad and bread.
Next, we went to James and Tiffany Wright's house for the main course, a little Texans football watching and hanging out with some more people we hadn't had a chance to talk with yet.
Then, we ended the night at David and Cynthia Liakos' house for some DELICIOUS trifles for dessert! I think we all sampled them all and had fun just hanging out and relaxing. The trifles were the perfect dessert to end a night of eating because they were still kinda light--we had banana pudding, tiramisu, brownie berry and berry pound cake. Yum.
not sure who took this picture, but Brandon's face made me laugh~
Christel and I with our sweet baby boys--we were pregnant together and our babies were born about a month apart. :)
Once almost everyone was gone, some of us stuck around and helped them clean up. I changed Aedan into his pjs and he hung out for a little while, as happy as could be. And, on a side note--I think he has officially outgrown all of his newborn jammies, ha!
Time to go home. It was such a fun night, but by the end, we were all tired. :)
