Mommy School weeks N, B, H, L and V

Life in Pictures, Febraury edition

Every time I do these monthly, normal life, posts, I'm reminded of just how full each month is.  Life right now is fun and challenging and busy and wonderful, all rolled up into one.

Aedan's 100th Day of Kindergarten

For some reason, my kids dressing up as 100 year old men for the 100th day of school was something that I was really looking forward to doing with them, because I'd seen my friend's kids' 100th day of school pictures and they were just so stinking cute.  But then, when they sent home the information about Aedan's 100th day celebration, Aedan said he didn't want to do it because he was afraid that everyone would laugh at him.  That made me so sad, because I don't want him to be worried about what other people think of him.  I told him that other people would be dressed up too, and tried to talk him into it, but he wasn't budging, so I let it go.  But then, the night before the 100th day, at about 6pm, he changed him mind.  My heart was so happy because he was wanting to do his thing, dressing up, and not letting his fear of what others thought about him, stop him!  And then, we ran around like crazy people, trying to find a store that was open on Sunday evening.  Thank goodness for Target, lol. :)  It was fun though, because I was just so happy he changed his mind!

February 22, 2018!

In our family, your birthday day is all about you and what you like to do!  So, we started the day off with Austin's favorite breakfast--breakfast tacos. :)  I got up early and had them all set up for when eh woke up.

16 months!

Oh my sweet little Adam!  You are definitely still our baby, but man do you want to keep up with your brothers.  Everything they do, you want to be right in the mix.  I'm seeing little glimpses more and more of the little boy you're growing into!  Sweet boy, you are fun and funny and opinionated and a busy little bee right now. I can't leave you alone for a second!  But the joy you bring to us is well worth it!!

FOUR years old!

Oh my sweet boy--FOUR!  You are at such a sweet age and I have a feeling four is going to be a very good year for you!  You have grown SO much over the last year, in so many ways.  You are fun, funny, imaginative, playful, loving, snuggly and just pure joy.  We are so thankful that you are ours!!  Happy 4th birthday, little one!

Last night as a 3 year old

Tonight is Austin's last night as a 3 year old and I seriously cannot even believe it. Four just sounds so old. Like, with 3 I can still say he's a toddler, right? But four, that's preschool age. I'm in denial. I've spent the night reminiscing about this night 4 years ago, and I can still remember it like it was yesterday, seeing his sweet little face for the first time after such a fast labor and delivery. Sleep tight, little one, and we'll celebrate you tomorrow!! We love you so much!

Austin's 4th birthday party, Paw Patrol style

This year, we celebrated Austin's birthday at our house, Paw Patrol style, and it was SUCH a FUN day celebrating our favorite FOUR year old!

As is tradition, Daddy made the cake and it came our SUPER cute!!

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day was fun this year. :)  We were a little last minute with everything, but it was still a good time!  Austin and Adam had their Sonshine Valentine's Day party that Tuesday, so that morning when Austin woke up, we put his Valentines' together.  Love any one on one time I can get with any of my boys (or their Daddy!!).

Road Trip, Part 5: Headed Home!

We all slept in a little when we woke up in Sioux Falls and grabbed a little breakfast at our hotel before hitting the road.  We didn't have a firm plan for the rest of our trip home, but were tossing around ideas as we drove.  It's how we roll on road trips. :)  We stopped for lunch at one of the top rated places in Omaha, a little Italian restaurant.  It was good food, and super cheap, but a tad fancier than we were expecting, with out three young boys lol. But, we were all happy to be out of the car for a little while though!

Road Trip Part 4: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota

We pulled into our hotel around 2am, and the kids were up at their usual early hour. :)  We held them off with a little Curious George until Adam woke up and then headed down to the lobby for some breakfast and swimming, as promised!  It was a super fun morning and some much needed downtime after our late night the night before.

Road Trip, part 3: Wyoming

We left Park City and headed for Wyoming with an end destination (Yellowstone!), but without a plan for where we were going to spend the night, because we just wanted to see how things went.  We ended up stopping in a little town about 2 hours away from Yellowstone, and staying in these cute little cabins.  We got in late, transferred 3 sleeping babies into beds and then crashed out too.

Adam slept in bed with me, and during the night he definitely felt warm to me.  Then, around 6am, he started throwing up.  It was so awful--I felt so bad for him.  He and I were both covered in it and he was burning up.  I got him all cleaned up and then he fell back asleep.  Everyone else was up at this point too (it was a small cabin!), so we turned on some cartoons  for the bigger boys and all snuggled in one bed, while Landon drove to the one little store in town for some breakfast and medicine.  It was not the start of the day we were expecting!

Road Trip, part 2: Park City

The next morning we got  up, ate a quick breakfast from foods we had packed and headed up to the resort.  We were ready to have some fun!  We had bought all day passes for everyone and the plan was to just hang out until everyone crashed out.  Just kidding--kind of. :)

As soon as we got there, the boys climbed by the sign and asked us to take their picture.  I sure do love these boys!  We are all excited for a fun day.

Road Trip part 1, HOUSTON to DFW to PARK CITY, UTAH

During our early years of marriage, Landon and I printed off some maps of the US, colored in the ones that we've already been to, and talked about how we wanted to visit all 50 states before we turned 40.  That seemed really far off at the time, ha. :)
Then, almost years ago, on the Thursday before the 4th of July weekend, he called me on the way home and asked if I was up for an adventure.  I said sure, we packed some bags and started driving.  I had no idea where we were going, but he did...and we ended up driving through the night to visit our friends who had moved to Tennessee with 4 month old Austin and 3 year old Aedan.  It was a little crazy, but so fun.
A year later, he emailed me a map with a route planned out, hitting something like 13 states throughout the southeast.  He asked if it was crazy.  I said yes, but let's do it!  So, the week after Aedan's 4th birthday party, we loaded up our 1 and 4 year olds into our minivan and set off for 2 weeks.  It was amazing and we got home ready to do it again!
And that brings us to this trip.  We've always known that this trip would have to happen--our road trip to North Dakota and back.  This one, we talked about for months, trying to figure out how to do it.  We looked into renting an RV, but ultimately decided to just take our van.  We knew we had to do it during the summer, so we wouldn't drive in snow.  We talked and talked.  We also wanted to do it before Aedan started school.  And we ended up with a little window this last summer in July.  Landon was slower at work, which was perfect, and we had a 2 week window between Aedan's Meet Of Champoins with his swim team and my childhood friend Amanda coming to visit.  Almost at the last minute, though at the same time not last minute at all, we decided to go for it.  And I'm so glad we did!  It was a ton of driving, we still had to parent (lol) and 3 kids, with one of them being a baby, is definitely harder than 2 kids, both out of the baby phase, but oh my goodness was it fun.  We made so many memories, had so many good talks, took so many pictures, ate so much good food and drove so many miles.  And we'd both do it again in a heartbeat.  Somehow, in the busyness of life this summer, I never got to blog about it.  So, here we go.:)

The night before our trip, we were up until about 2am packing (how does this always happen??) and then Aedan and I were up at 6am because I was tent mom for his meet.  We had so much fun and I was so glad to be there with him.  He swam well and it was amazing to watch him and realize how far he'd come in just 2 months.  SO proud of our little guy!!  Landon stayed home with the little 2, while I texted him pictures and updates like a crazy person, and packed up the van.

Looking back and looking forward

So, February is as good a time a any to do a little reflection and looking forward, right?  I'm a new years resolutions person and while I haven't written anything on here about them yet (I'm on a mission to catch up from October--YIKES), I've definitely been thinking about them and working on them.  And I have a little time on this Sunday afternoon while we all play and have a lazy day (and Adam naps), so I'm feeling the need for a little brain dump on where I am in life.
