Dear Amy,

So, you already know what Anna wants you to get her for Christmas, but she wanted to make sure there was no doubt.

p.s. To any crazy person who thinks they will make all of Anna's dreams come true and buy her a cat for Christmas, you can't. Nathan and I are both allergic.....plus cats are evil. ;)

p.p.s. Anna does not sleep in that crib! She was playing in Noah's bed.

She also says...

I thought of a few more things Anna has been saying lately. I have to write them down or I know I will forget!

Trees make sack. Not sap!

Candles are made of whack.

A group of birds is called a flocket.

Oh how I love this age!

Well, it's happening again. We're so busy that I keep making mental notes of cute things the kids have said and then I forget all about them before I can write them down. Here are the few that I can remember.

On the way home from preschool a while back Anna told me, "Mommy, when I lived in your tummy I used to chew on your bones".

This past week I got my first spontaneous, "Mommy? I love you" from Noah. When I responded, "I love you too, baby!", he said, "Yeah, I love you mommy. But I not a baby! And you old". Thanks a lot, buddy.

Today in the mall Anna saw an older lady with short, curly, white hair. As we passed her Anna said, "Wow, I sure do love your white fluffy hair!". The lady just smiled. I'm not sure she even heard Anna, but I thought it was cute.

Noah is so goofy lately. I love to hear him pretend, and his pretend play almost always includes someone getting to eat ice cream. Today in the car he put his socks on his hands and told me, "It's not socks! It's blueberry ice cream scoops!". There's something magical about his socks. Last week he put them on his hands in preschool carpool, and when Anna's teacher opened the door he showed them to her and yelled repeatedly, "I a space man! I a space man!".

Love these kids!

My friend Julie just sent me these pictures from our October get together with our small group from church. We let all of the kids wear their costumes and they were so excited. These crack me up!

L to R: Anna (funny face) Jack, Emma, Leigh, Noah, twins Kate and Claire in the bumbo seats, and baby Olivia on the blanket. The kids in the back row are all 2-4 years old, the twins are 6 months old, and little Olivia is only 8 weeks old.

Poor little bumblebee!

After standing still for pictures they needed to let out a little energy on Jack's bed. That bed will look familiar in a few weeks. It's the same one we just bought for Noah's big boy room.

Just last week Leigh's parents welcomed their new baby Kara. When we first started our group had 5 kids and in just one year we're up to 9! I love how they all play and have so much fun together, even if Jack and Noah are getting a bit outnumbered!

Sleeping Beauty

Sometimes Nathan likes to sneak in and take a few pictures of the kids after they fall asleep. They look so peaceful and so sweet when they're sleeping. Plus it's the only time you can get them to stand still! Ashley, Anna has adopted one of the dogs as her own!

I love this picture, because it is a perfect snap shot of Anna's life right now. We let her sleep in her costume. I know, I know. But it's basically a nightgown anyway, it just has sequins! So she's a mermaid sleeping on her ballerina sheets. And hanging behind her on the wall is her preschool class morning message. This is the little paper they have every morning at the start of circle time, when they go over the date, the weather, and what the day's craft will be. They also have the kids circle sight words. I love how the teachers draw themselves above their names! They let every student take the paper home a few times per year and this was Anna's first. She immediately wanted it hung up in her room, and she loves pretending to lead me through morning message.

Noah sleeping style isn't so much Sleeping Beauty as it is runrunrun until you just pass out. ;)

He's such a sweetie though. For the last two days he has been asking for a baby brother, completely unprovoked! Last night he even made two play doh penguins and insisted they stay side by side because they were "Bwothers".

Preschool Pumpkin

So what if Halloween was last week? We can still carve our pumpkin, right?! Nathan and I like them better uncarved, but the kids were so excited to do it so we went ahead.

Ewww, not so excited about this part.

We let Anna draw on the face.

I carved it exactly like she had drawn it. Nathan made fun of my carving skills, but I think it's the perfect preschool pumpkin! Speaking of preschool, I had Anna's parent teacher conference this morning and once again I heard a glowing review. They told me Anna was well behaved, very smart, and a born leader. They didn't have to convince me! :)

It works!

This week I read on two different blogs that there was something going on with the Autumn Equinox and gravity and who knows what, that made it possible for you to stand a broom up in your house with nothing supporting it. I tried it, and after a few minutes of thinking it wouldn't work, it did! It stood there for a long time. I even went to the store and came back and it was still standing...until Noah saw it of course.

Anna thought it was super exciting. Here she is putting the hocus pocus on it. And yes, she's wearing her mermaid costume. It pretty much hasn't left her body since Halloween night!
