Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me-E... Happy birthday to me ! My birthday surprise was to dissect a RAT ! ! We had to pair up but these two girls refused to touch the rat AT ALL.. my group was the only group with three members.. and we stood there staring at eachother, then stared at the rat on the dissecting-wax tray, then at eachother again... I dont have to say this and you all should know WHO ended up cutting open that rat.. and guess what, we still have to BUY gloves from our teachers.. omg, and one piece of glove costs 25 cents -.- I really feel like burning down this school.. Anyway, I didnt bring $$ with me to class.. its in my locker but I did not want to go all the way to get that 25cents, so this girl in my group bought two gloves and we were suppose to tie the rat's feet using string, securing it, and looped the string behind and all around the tray.. she tied the rat's feet reluctantly and while she was tying it, she was urg-ing and eew-ing and yuck-ing and breathing heavily.. JUST TO TIE THE RAT'S FEET?? I did a dissection course in RV but that was on a mouse 2 weeks old.. and ALIVE some more.. the rat we had today was three times bigger than that mouse and was STIFF.. it was soaked in formalin.. so when I cut it open, the muscles and skin were stuck together and HARD.. plus there was no blood at all..*disappointed* sighssssss! ............... HAHAHA, I know, I'm spastic :P The one of the girls was crying :S.. I didnt enjoy this dissection cuz after that class, I was almost vomiting.. cuz the formalin was too strong.. I would be better if it was a fresh rat.. as in seriously, cuz I dont mind blood.. I think I smell formalin now, and I'm still feeling sick about it.. hmmm, I really wonder how I'll survive third year medicine, cuz med students will have to take anatomy classes whereby they dissect a dead human body(which must have been soaked in MORE formalin).. Formalin smelling session for the remaining biology classes.. with two group members squealing behind me as I yank out the intestines, kidneys and lungs.. otherwise, I think I'm pretty okay with cutting up that rat, afterall, its already dead and it does not look as cute as the mouse we dissected in RV.. You know, in RV, my group was among the last to cut up tt mouse cuz we were busy stroking the mouse's fur... then on our first 'cut' into its skin, we were saying 'sorry' repeatedly until we finish slitting.. Weeeeeeeeee~ I'm unofficially 18 years old.. hahaa! yuppz it was celebrated last night tgt with XK, though I was in the 'spotlight' most of the time (cuz I'm having my 18th birthday).. Jenny brought Yiyang, XK and I downtown to get presents. She got both of us tops and bottoms and we were made to waer it to the buffet. We nearly lost our way and Jenny's hp batteries were running low.. so ya, I guess luck was on our side ytd :)) The Great Buffet of China was the place we went to ytd.. all I can say is 'shiok'.. HAHAHA! it has been quite sometime since I last used this singlish word.. :P:P:P If anyone comes to visit me here, I'll take you there FOR SURE!.. and thats the first time I saw so many cute chinese guys this year.. ALL IN ONE PLACE.. hee hee! Anyway, Neil and Janet were already waiting there for us.. and then laughing at our drenched clothes (cuz it was raining outside).. we decided to get food and there are almost 100 selections to eat from.. and 80% are delicious chinese cuisines.. *drools* hah!.. but while I was going for a second helping, Neil pulled me back and said there was some sort of emergency.. so ya, I returned with just a plate and a small piece of salmon on it.. Then not long, Janet came out with this humongous rectangle cake with six candles on top.. I was truly surprised because we initially decided on NOT getting a cake since I was already giving a treat in the restaurant.. THANK YOU JANET, NEIL, JENNY and all thouse who planned for this surprise.. urggg! *happy* ![]() ![]() note the cherry-fied nose... Later that night, Neil treated us to a movie.. [ Silent Hill ] We then ran home in the rain at 10 pm.. funn.. FUNN ! ! I enjoyed my 18th birthday sooo much.. but still, all of us are going separate ways once school starts again in September.. XK will be going Toronto, Neil and Yiyang will be staying in Saskatoon, Jenny might be returning to ?? and Janet will be staying for a few more years in Saskatoon before leaving to U of Victoria to become an oceanographer.........................and me? I am still deciding between UoS, UoT, UoA.. 'Separation' again........... Monday, June 05, 2006 @ 11:41 AM
I am in a horrible dillema.. my bday is coming and XueKai and Neil and Yiyang are going to hold a party for XK and me.. I went to Superstore to look for a card for XK, then I met Neil and XK at Superstore.. such a coincidence.. so it ended up Neil stayed there to work while XK and I walked home together. On our way back, I told him I was looking for his present while he told me that Neil is going to get sth for me that cost three digits.. I was like O.O... basically just shocked! I told XK I'm going to get him a three digit present too, but it has to include the 'cents-place' meaning $0.00 (ahha! THREE digits).. I was kidding.. We ended up bumping into Janet in CentreMall and we told her I was going to get a cap for XK's present. She tagged along with us and a fwe minutes later, she bought a cap for me while I bought one for XK.. This is my 18th birthday and the presents I am getting are.. sort of.. grown up?? Oh well, these friends are rich kids.. so yupp! I should be happy cuz when yiyang called me she told me what both guys are getting me.. and trust me, these are NO CHEAP STUFFS ! I was horrified.. But what shock me the most was, yiyang started crying. She said she has to buy equally expensive gifts but her parents wont allow. I was trying to get the fact into her head that the gifts I get friends in sg are just stuff toys and etetc... but she wouldnt listen.. then finally, (I felt she was threatening me, but maybe not, I dont know..) she said she wont go to celebrate my bday. I really dont know what to do.. and plus, we are going to go Boston Pizza to celebrate bday and give a treat to Janet and Jenny, thanking them for helping us do our hair and makeup during graduation.. I thought it was a good idea when XK told me on our way home.. BUT.. ..yiyang said her parents wont allow.. and this is not the first time I'm having this trouble.. NOW, I have to get the guys to change their plans just because of yiyang?? I really dont know.. I hate it.. I try to please everyone and this is the end result.. It hink yiyang's parents hate me like **** (cows) now.. I dont want things this way.. .. I just want to have a peaceful bday.. I dont want to worry so much.. but if I do, I'll leave yiyang out.. and then I will be the lousiest friend on earth.. and.. I hate it.. why do things have to turn out this way.. ..saddened.. :' ( Saturday, June 03, 2006 @ 6:44 AM
It has been quite sometime since I wrote a proper entry.. I was busyyyyyyy... I had physics competition and received only a certificate of high acheivement.. was the highest in sch but I was disappointed cuz there was no $$ won :( ....Out of 65 people in the whole province chosen to do this competition, I was within first 10.. AND THERE IS NO SCHOLARSHIP ?!! shouldnt have wasted my time doing this 2-hour examination.. >:( Then there was the U of TM issue.. its not the main campus but its still U of T.. I'm sooooo happy I got admitted into it :) BUT BUT BUT, I still dont know if I'll like the study environment there.. I hate making decisions.. hrr ! Also, there was the spring showcase thing.. there was only ONE pathetic proper practice.. and we had to ride all the way to the university to use the piano. There were only three bicycles, and two girls and two guys.. halfway, we borrowed another from our friend so there were FOUR ! ! Unfortunately, one of the bicycles wheels got punctured.. soo.. me being the lightest, had to ride with someone else.. and tt bicycle which had a seat behind was metal and it bruised my butt badly.. XK was having a hard time with his HARD bicycle seat.. so whenever there was a bump, both of us would be yelping in pain :S our performance on the showcase day was not all tt impressive but we only had ONE practice after all.. so, there was nothing to complain about.. I was nervous tt day and I absent-mindedly left my scores in my locker.. and only realised tt when I sat at the piano and the performance was just about to begin... ><" I shall stop blogging about my stupidity.. before my GOOD reputation starts to..... (cant think of a suitable word here)... heh heh ! Anyways, I'll just go on.. temperature these few days are like sg.. some nights, there will be HEAVY RAIN and thunderstorms , and the next morning, temperatures will be like 31 degrees.. it isnt tt humid here so I sweat much lesser than in sg.. so I AM GETTING CHUBBY :'( .....ok, seriously I dont know whatelse there is to update, there were lots of things happening recently, just tt if I were to list down all, it would bore you all down because WHO CARES ABOUT SHI NING'S LIFE ANYWAY.. sooo.. its PHOTO-TIME ! ! Hah! Kk, so basicallly there was graduation and it was really fun. I was told that I was not myself tt night.. especially during the dance.. where there was soft music and disco dancing.. I was pretty shock at myself for dancing tt way during grad, but everyone around me was like tt, so there was no point worrying how others would see you! STILL, it was NOT me that night (trust me) :P:P:P The banquet was a total waste of money.. I could have gotten to any old restaurant, and eat all I want and it would not sum up to $38.. and the food would be of much higher quality ! ! *sighs*..... oh well, overall was still not bad.. ![]() edward, xuekai, shining ![]() back: neil (china), xuekai(spore/china), yiyang (china)... front: julie(korea), jenny(taiwan), edward (hongkong), shining(spore/msia), janet(hongkong) ![]() shining, thilini(srilanka), janet, yiyang, jenny ![]() shining, yiyang, janet ![]() back: jake(korea), edward (HK), sean(korea)... front: brian(korea), jin(korea), eric(korea) |
