I know its impossible to reach everyone with a mailed letter so here is our Christmas letter.
Dear Family and Friends-
Another year has come and gone (almost) and we have definitely had a great year. The most exciting thing that happened this year was Steve’s return from Afghanistan after a year-long deployment. He noticed how much the kids had grown and was excited to be able to spend the summer with the family. We took a trip to Utah when Steve got home and went to Lagoon, swam in the Hansen’s pool, watched fireworks, lit fireworks (Tanner is definitely a pyro like his daddy), and loved every minute of it.
As for our kids… Tanner is still and forever our littler destructor. He gets into everything and makes a mess of everything. It is really hard for me to stay mad for long after he makes a mess in a room I have just cleaned because of his cute smile and loveable facial expression. He loves to do projects with his Dad. If Steve is working in the yard, on the cars, or around the house you are sure to find Tanner right there by his side, using his own plastic tool set. He loves to sit on my lap drink his milk and watch a movie. He is still my little cuddler and I love it. Tanner has a very active imagination and loves to play with his sister. They play house, school, and occasionally he can convince Sabrinna to play cars or dinosaurs with him. Tanner is fearless. He will come to anyone’s rescue during a wrestling match. He puts his head down and charges with little or no thought of it, even if it means he will be caught and tickled as a result! He will be starting primary in January.
Sabrinna is our little sweetheart! She started Kindergarten in August at Eagleside Elementary. It’s hard to see how fast she is growing up. She is so eager to learn and loves to pretend to be a teacher. She talks to Steve for an hour all about ABCs and Days of the week. Steve introduced her to soccer this year. She had her first and probably last season of soccer this fall. She decided soccer really isn’t her thing. She still finished the season; and when we asked her if she wanted to play again her response was a very firm “NO”. Her favorite things to do are crafts and play pretend mom. She will make things for Steve and I and then just leave it on our night stands. Sabrinna is so helpful and is very obedient. The other day I was cleaning and she came and asked me if I needed help with anything. What 5 year old does that? Not many! We are truly blessed to have her in our family!!!
Steve is busy with work, school, and projects around the house and yard. He likes to keep his hands and mind busy, which he is very successful in doing. He has been tirelessly working on his Master’s degree and has a goal to be done with it by next spring. He tries to limit himself to only watching the 4th quarter of football games so he can spend more time on his assignments. He still loves sports! Over the summer he was invited to play with a softball team on the city league. During the fall, he organized the Battalion flag football team which competed with other teams on post at Ft Carson. Now it is racquetball season. He is currently serving as an advisor in the Young Men’s Program at church and loves it. Steve reminds me and himself at every holiday that he is grateful to be home and not in Afghanistan this year.
I continue to enjoy being a mom and staying at home with my kids. I enjoy the kids’ fun personalities and new things they say and do. They keep me on my toes and I love being able to be home with them. I know I have said it before but being a mom is the best job EVER! I am happy to say that in April I will be having a little girl. We are both excited to welcome a baby girl into our little family next year. I am still serving in the Primary as the chorister. The primary children have a special spirit I get to feel as they sing and I really am grateful for the opportunity to serve them.
We are excited for this next year and the changes it will bring. The birth of our third child and the anticipation of a move and reassignment later next summer are two big changes we are preparing for. Life is always full of change and we hope to find the good in all of the changes this next year. We hope that your Christmas season is Merry and Bright and that you have a Happy New Year!
Love,
The Wentz Family
