Stitching and Other Pleasures

This morning I received my wonderful exchange from Edgar. He has totally spoiled me by sending not just one thing off my wishlist, but 4! Altoids, Icebreakers, needles & TWO LHN charts. Thank you so much Edgar! Oh & the fob...the fob is gorgeous & tiny. I love it. Now I just have to decided which scissors to put it on. ;)

I've had this kit since 2002 & have been wanting to start it for ages. So now that I have, I can't put it down LOL. Although I am having a small problem with the Maidenhair Fern silk. I went to pull one strand out this morning & it just broke off and of course it wasn't a usable length! I find it is also deteriorating in the linen while I stitch. The AVAS silk doesn't seem to do this, only the overdyed one. Erk. I think I prefer cotton thread.

I've been stitching away madly on SB's My Earth (it's going quite fast & I've almost done the top section - photo to come!) but put it aside to do this ornament. It's Holiday Tree by Mill HIll. Of course, the pic doesn't do it justice. I just love these little ornaments and have done quite a few.

Thank you Jennifer & Cindy for your help with my sidebar. I played around with it quite a bit & finally found the various places to centre my pics. HOWEVER, I've had a major discovery!! Instead of adding each pic as a separate page element & then centering all the stuff etc & repeating ad nauseam, I can add ALL my previous sidebar stuff from my old template using a HTML page element. Well, that was easy! Add a HTML thingie, copy & paste my bits into it & then all I have left to do is centre the title. Goodie!! I'm one happy camper.

So onto the real reason for my post. My good friend, Cathy has started a blog. Please go & welcome her to blog land. I've had to drag her into this underworld of sin LOL and she's doing great so far! Here's a link to help you all find it: linky link.

I've finally updated my template to something pretty. But blimey.....why does blogger make it so hard? I had to upgrade my blog to some new thingie but now I have absolutely no control over the html. It's some other language that I can't work out at all! If someone could tell me how to make my sidebar pics centered, I'll love them forever. Plus I'd like to add my little percentage bar thingies but that would entail adding another pic which would then include that little dotted line between them. Erk.

I started My Earth on 31/12 as I promised. Mind you, I only stitched a couple of rows. But I got it out again yesterday & here is the progress pic.





My New Year's Day start was SB's The Earth Gatherers. I am so loving this piece! But boy is there a lot of work in it. I've stitched the girl....that patchwork vest took ages. I meant to keep track of the hours worked (just for interest sake) but forgot. I've been working on her every day since Jan 1 so that would be quite a few hours I think. This is how she's looking now:







I got a new camera for Christmas & I love it! I can see the difference in my pics already. My old one was only 1.3 megapixels & the new one is 7. Such a difference!
